  1. Ivy...I think part of my problem is drinking while eating and drinking too soon before eating a meal. I hate to get an unfill and I think I'm going to try to do things the right way before going in for an unfill. What do you think? My Protein shake is going down okay now.

    Pre-process is moving fast!

Have no fears...insurance won't take that long to approve you. Now, excercising patience to surgery day will be a challenge, especially when the pre-process moves quickly. I remember those days, it felt like an eternity!

    I think I'm in trouble...too tight?

Thank you for showing that you care...even though you thought I was upset with you. That shows true character and I like that!!! I'm the same way, so that makes us buds now.

    I think I'm in trouble...too tight?

Thanks Ivy. I don't hold grudges, sometimes I get a bit hot headed and if I hurt your feelings or offended you with a prior post, I do apologize. Any positve advice is always welcomed and I will take your suggestion seriously.
  5. It flushes the food through your system too fast and in my case if I've been drinking before I eat, the food will not go down and you'll vomit or PB. I'm in bandster hell right now - I think I'm too tight, but even a slight unfill will leave me hungry all day. Sigh. Every day is a learning experience and what works today, might not work tomorrow.

    Feeling stuffed 4 days out

What you are experiencing is completely normal. You're still swollen and there is still trapped gas from your procedure. You'll feel much differently a few days from now.

    Not losing

I think your workouts might be the culprit. I've read that high intensity excercise can be counterproductive at this stage of the game, that's why surgeons suggest just walking. A 30 minute walk does far more for you than strength training or other strenuous activities. Try swimming, pilates, yoga...but nothing that requires you to increase your heart rate too much. Some of us get a bit overzealous and want to see reductions so badly that we actually make our bodies work against us. Less is more right now. Leave the "workouts" alone until you start toning, right now you just need to burn fat and walking is enough to do that with the way you're eating. Stay in touch!

    I got a new attitude

Begin again. Adopt the behaviors of a newly banded person - liquids for a week or two, mushies and then lots of fish and poultry. Having the band already is your biggest bonus. You know what you have to do and it can be done. Don't be discouraged...we are waiting to hear your success stories soon!

Sick of tuna kits for lunch!

You're lucky...my band will not tolerate boiled eggs. Epic fail!

    YUMMY!!!!

Sick of tuna kits for lunch!

Oh dear! Why are you depriving yourself with such a limited diet? You've got to get creative, there are LOTS of things you can have for lunch! My doctor gave me a "cook book", just start preparing meals and freezing them since it's so hard to prepare small portions. I live on Lean Cuisine (I leave the Pasta, rice and other carb-rich items in the tray) the Protein included is the perfect amount for us. For example yesterday, I had the Lemon Pepper fish meal - I scraped off the coating on the fish, left the rice pilaf and ate the broccoli - it went down easy and kept me full for 4 hours. Today I am having the BBQ chicken, I will leave the potatoes and only eat the chicken and carrots. I also buy already prepared Tyson chicken breasts and keep them at work. The portion sizes are exactly what is required for a serving of protein for us. Girl, you better start finding new things or you're not going to be as successful as you otherwise would. Even worse, it could cause you to make poor food choices before long. Get out there and make it happen!!!

    Pre op

Are you strictly liquid? Not to be a bad influence, but a small salad (using fat free dressing!!!) will help you get through and the crunch of the lettuce can replace the crunch of the chips. Just use your imagination and remember you're sacrificing for the greater good. You won't be craving bad things after your surgery, just keep that in mind as a happy thought.

    Time to go,

Good luck! Don't worry about the jitters, we all had them - you'll do fine!

    Called the insurnace today...

I didn't have to go through the hassle, True Results only contacted my PCP and that satisfied BCBS.
  15. Okay, I love hard boiled eggs but have come to the conclusion that my band hates them. Don't try this at home boys and girls.

    Buying clothers

I'm gonna Pop Some Tags with $20 in my pocket...hit the thrift store. Not spending $$$ on clothes for a while, you'll be buying a new wardrobe every month.

Post-Op Day 1: Gained 5 pounds in 1 day. WTH???

My doctor only wants me to weigh when I come in for fills once a month. Watching the scale every day can drive you crazy. I still do though...
  18. I would say 6-8 weeks after your surgery. You can start with pure cocoa butter in about another week though. I used cocoa butter for two weeks before my procedure to give my skin a head start. As you lose weight, your scars are going to get smaller anyway. Some people's scars are hardly visible a year out, one of my friends got rid of her surgical scars and stretch marks in about 7 months, but she was very diligent about using mederma, cocoa and shea butter on her tummy 2 -3x a day.

    Wow tomorrow...

Nothing to fear! Enjoy the moment...the surgery is nothing to worry about, it's the day after that will have you in tears. LOL Don't let me scare you, I wouldn't trade my Band-Day for anything in the world, I remember everything except getting knocked out. They put a little bag on my IV and the next thing I know I was waking up in a room. Sweet memories of La-La land...hahahaha. Congrats and enjoy, you've come a long way and you'll be so happy that you had it done. I know I am. I have a lot to learn, its like every day is a new experience with my band, but I love it nonetheless and I'm happy with my results so far. You will be too! Keep us posted!
  20. Please tell me you did not remove your steri-strips!!! They usually don't fall off on their own until about 2 weeks after your surgery. It's hard to speculate what could be going on now - I don't know what my incisions looked like at that stage of the game. You should call your doctor and see how safe it is for you to use neosporin or some other antibiotic ointment. I'm 4 weeks and 1 day out today, but plan on using mederma or anther scar gel in about a week. I had one tiny little bump that looked like a pimple near my port site, I popped it and it didn't come back so I'm not concerned. I really think your strips came off too soon though.

    Messing Up

Big time. My preop was supposed to be for 2 weeks, I didn't get serious until the last 4 or 5 days. Some people don't even have a preop diet. It's designed to defat your liver, not necessarilly to lose weight - perhaps to also prepare you for the changes in your eating habits. But 1) how do they know how fat your liver was to begin with 2) once banded, you won't have a choice but to change your eating habits. To say it is your food police is an understatement. I'm almost afraid to eat sometimes, especially at night. You'll be fine.
  22. PrettyThick1

    How long should i wait?

I went swimming during my second week. Enjoy!!!
  23. PrettyThick1

    Time between bites

One minute is the rule, True Results even gave me a neat little sand timer to be sure I stayed on track.
  24. Seriously. I think you need a psych evaluation before you proceed with any subsequent surgeries. I am far from feeble minded and sarcasm has no place on this site. We are real people, helping each other with real issues with weight loss. If you're here to play games, you should definitely find another outlet.
