PrettyThick1 replied to NewMeDebbie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I got to green on my 4th fill - it brought me to a total of 5.5 in a 10cc band. -

Wow...you posted again while I was posting the last message. I'm going to say a prayer for you tonight before I go to bed. I really will...I just made a reminder on my phone so I wouldn't forget. Those are a lot of things to be concerned about. Since you are a nurse, you know the importance of positive thoughts and surrounding yourself with positive people. Don't allow anyone around that's going to feel sorry for you, only those who believe in your strength to overcome. I don't know you, but I'm sending those vibes your way now. You can overcome anything that comes against you, there is a power within that makes it possible. Find it, use it. -

Congrats on your success with the band and I hope your health issues are resolved quickly. Try drinking protein shots instead - they are only about 2.5 oz but are packed with 26g, you can make up a lot of ground with those even on the days you can't stand the thought of eating or drinking anything. They also come in 42g / 3.5 oz bottles. Either of those is great to fill in the blanks, I rely on them heavilly...and now the same for Unjury Unflavored Protein. I mix that in everything...for instance: today my lunch was a 1/3c. cottage cheese with a spalsh of peach punch for flavor and one scoop of unflavored protein - it was awesome, I managed 80 calories, 36g protein and I stayed full for 3.5 hours. -
Too tight? Or is this typical?
PrettyThick1 replied to Wanna-Be-Healthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's normal, you aren't supposed to eat bread, rice, Pasta or anything like that because it gets gummy. I am able to eat them on occasion, but I have to be VERY careful, take tiny bites and chew well - I also take a sip of something while it's in my mouth before I swallow it. I can't eat chicken breast, it's too dry. If you want white meat, you have to add some kind of sauce to it. I usually just opt for a skinless thigh instead. Every time you get a fill, something will change and it will be the trial and error process all over again. That's the case for me anyway. -
ON MY WAY TO THE HOSPITAL

Relax...and enjoy La-La land. See you on the other side! -
I don't but I am concerned that I might develop one because it's so hard trying to drink enough Water. Can you try to keep a cup of crushed ice close at hand? You might have better luck chewing on it throughout the day rather than trying to drink water. I don't know that cranberry would help, it seems that might contribute to the problem because of it's acidity and you're already struggling to drink water. That's a tough one. Good luck.

That's awesome! I'm going to have to get a better scale, mine always strokes my ego and when I get to the doctor I'm at least 5lbs. heavier.

Girl, just go for it! Don't worry about calories, just enjoy yourself. You're not likely to overdo it anyway, so don't stress. And if you do overdo it...the band is forgiving and the pound or two you might gain will be gone in a couple of days - at the most. You deserve it, let your hair down and just enjoy being with friends.

I give Unjury Unflavored Protein an enthusiastic thumbs up! With the small amount of food we can eat, we have to find a way to get our nutrients in and I am happy to say that I know I can do much better with this product. I've added it to my yogurt this morning and it hasn't changed the texture or the taste (only slightly...maybe because I know I've added something to it). But it completely dissolved and actually made my yogurt much cremier. I like it and will be ordering more when I run out! My yogurt has gone from 8g's a serving to 30...what a deal!

You sound like me at first. This passes and in the end, I love my band and I'm so happy I did this. I hope you come to feel the same way soon.

Stomach growling??
PrettyThick1 replied to bluegirly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Muscle Milk is lactose free, I don't think I have any that have milk protein. I use Body Fortress protein shots, Muscle Milk and unjury unflavored protein. -
Stomach growling??
PrettyThick1 replied to bluegirly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've convinced myself that my stomach growl is the food emptying into the lower part like water going down the drain or something. -
went to dr for fill very disapointed :(
PrettyThick1 replied to ladyjordan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm sorry to hear that and I hope everything turns out okay. -
Love those comments!!! I lost my fine brown @$$ pretty quickly, but the more I lose from the rest of my body, it's starting to look better. LOL I was worried for a few weeks that I might have to get implants because I HATE squats.

Congratulations!!!!

Spouse is NOT on board.....
PrettyThick1 replied to manda81305's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have that problem, but a friend of mine went through a similar situation. While her husband was supportive of her decision to get the sleeve, he always told her he was afraid that she was going to get "skinny" and leave him for someone else. Even though she loved him dearly and couldn't see herself doing that to him - the negative thoughts he always had eventually manifested in their marriage. He was the one that called it quits - not her. She lost all of her excess weight and he just didn't see the same woman he fell in love with. So in the end, he walked and it broke her heart. But, if someone loves you they are going to love you no matter how much you gain or lose. With that being said, I hope your love, friendship and connection to each other is strong enough to weather any storm and that he is able to embrace your changes. In the end, you have to do what you think is best for you and hope that he understands and gets on board with your decision. -
I'm so very sorry about your friend, I will pray for her family and for you. I also knew someone who died from an obstucted bowel brought on by gastric bypass surgery and the bad thing about it is that it occurs very suddenly and with little or no warning. She had the surgery two years before her death and had lost about 400lbs, so by all accounts it was a success until the last hour of her life. One minute the person seems fine and the next they are being rushed to the emergency room but by then the damage is irreparable. She was a writer, you can google her: Joan Fountain, her before and after pics are amazing...her book was a best seller and she was well on her way. You will likely have to use the title of the book - it's been so long, she's wayyyy back in the google search pages. Joan Fountain - Nothing Bad Happens, Ever

From what I know it helps, but it's only made "perfect" by mons pubis reduction and lift surgery.

Banded yesterday, freaking out today! :( Lots of discomfort
PrettyThick1 replied to matilda85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your nurse is wrong, do not listen to her instructions. Seriously. You can't even have yogurt the first 2 days after a fill, much less the day after surgery. -

PrettyThick1 replied to matilda85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I usually don't say this: but I wonder if you made the right decision, too. If you can't go without food (yogurt is real food to a bandster) right now, the band might not solve your weight issue long term. Please be careful with yourself dear. -

Your main problem is that you shouldn't be eating anything right now, Clear liquids only at this point. Secondly, you just had extensive surgery - you aren't going to feel normal for the next few days, so please expect discomfort...it will be worse tomorrow, just so you know. Your body is adapting to a device being placed underneath a major organ and around another, it is going to respond accordingly. I'm really surprised you have an appetite at all, I couldn't stand the sight of food - much less want anything to eat for the first few days. I forced clear liquids, because I knew I needed something to keep me hydrated and get a few calories in. You should really follow your doctors orders and there isn't a single surgeon that would allow you to have yogurt the day after your surgery. Jello - yes, because it's a clear liquid. But if you don't watch what you're doing, you are going to find yourself in trouble in a short amount of time. I'm not being negative, but your post alarms me. -
My insurance approved me in 3 days, I was not required to do a 6 month supervised plan because I had tried a number of other diet plans before: Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Phentermine, Atkins and Quick Weight Loss.

I use La-La, Yakult or whatever is on sale. La-La is always .99 for a 6 pack, but I don't know if that's a national brand or not. You can find them either in the dairy case, near the yogurt or cheese.
