Insurance Covering My Tummy Tuck!!!
PrettyThick1 replied to PrettyThick1's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Fortunately, I can't do it until after December 19th and according to my friends and family, I should only aim to lose another 10-15lbs. I would also like to address my arms at the same time, so I need time to save for that. I'm giving myself a goal of 12-18 months from now. -
Insurance Covering My Tummy Tuck!!!
PrettyThick1 replied to PrettyThick1's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Oh wow! I love that idea and will definitely make sure the surgeon does that!!! Thanks so much! -
I've been having bathroom issues for the past couple of days and decided to increase my veggie intake. It seems to be helping a little bit, but I'm going to go grab some benefiber today - thanks for that suggestion Lauren!

Glad everything went well! Now, rest! We'll chat with you tomorrow.

No, that sounds about right. Enjoy being able to eat breakfast while you can, I'm too tight in the morning for anything but hot/warm liquids.

Congratulations!

I would keep going and get all of that out of the way if I were you.

is there any restriction when you first get a band?
PrettyThick1 replied to annanyc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded with 3cc's but I needed a fill 3 weeks after my surgery, fortunately my surgeon told me to schedule it as soon as I felt better. Two days before my first fill was due, I was starving like nobody's business! I've lost a great deal of weight, but that is after 3 fills. I'm glad I got them at the time I did, I was in the green zone after the 3rd one and haven't needed another one since. -
I'm So Glad I Didn't Get the Sleeve
PrettyThick1 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have two coworkers who have gotten the sleeve and two who have gotten the band. The two that have the sleeve wish they had gotten the band for several reasons, here are a few of the problems they have to deal with: Coworker 1: Husband worried she would lose weight and not want him anymore, after 19 years. She insisted that she'd loved him since she was 14 years old and losing weight wasn't going to change that. For her, it didn't. He couldn't deal with the new her and ended up leaving her and filing for a divorce. She'd already lost enough weight before he left her, but after he filed for divorce she lost even more weight and is battling a number of ailments as a result. Coworker 2: She ate Beans soon after her surgery and had to be hospitalized for 43 days from the complications. She use to look 30 in her 40's, now she looks at least 60. She went from 265 to 119 in 11 months, she wanted to stop at 140. She looks like a walking skeleton and wants to stop the weight loss desperately, but can't. Eating high calorie foods isn't working because more often than not, it makes her sick. They both look older and have a ton of excess skin. I feel bad for them, especially since there is no end in sight for them to stop losing weight. I love my band even more now. -
I love, love, love old fashioned cake donuts. My mouth is watering now, thank you! LOL

Saw an Ex-boyfriend Yesterday
PrettyThick1 replied to PrettyThick1's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That's exactly what I'm going to do! Thank you! -
Don't stress over the surgery, it's a piece of cake. It's the after effects that should make you nervous - the day after you'll feel like a bus ran over your stomach and would rip the band out if you could. It gets better and it's all worth it. I wouldn't trade this journey for anything except a 100 lb. bag of unmarked $100 bills.

Please tell us more about them? I've never heard of Rev Wraps before.

That is an NSV! I was happy when I could no longer eat chocolate. I tried a few sips of soda over the weekend and I don't like the feeling of the carbonation anymore. I'm happy about that, I was addicted to coca-cola in the worst way.

Congratulations!!!

Thanks, I'm going to try that because I can't tolerate regular peanut butter anymore. It's unbelieveable the way it makes me slime.

Product Review: Atkins Italian Style Pasta Bake
PrettyThick1 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This stuff is D E L I C I O U S! I try to plan my meals in advance, but sometimes I don't want what I've brought for lunch and today was one of those days. I was at Walmart anyway and decided to check out the frozen food section for new things to have at work. It's really hard finding frozen meals that aren't loaded with carbs - they all seem to have rice, Pasta or potatoes in them, argh! However, I thought since this was Atkins, I'd suck it up and have the small amount of pasta in the meal. I'm so happy I did. This tastes almost home-made and it's very filling. I think this could easilly be 3 meals for me, it's plenty of food. Here are the nutrition facts: 360 calories per serving (for bandsters the package is 2 or 3 meals - 120 or 240 calories) 33g Protein (11 or 22g) 7g net carbs (avoid the pasta and erase that) Anyway, I give this product two thumbs up...I can't wait to try their other varieties soon. -
I just had my very first piece of chocolate cake (my former addiction) since being banded 3 months ago and I'm happy to say that it's not as good as I thought it was. I'm officially over it and find more pleasure in a single piece of Jolly Rancher or Worther's hard candy. Yay me! I think it gave me a headache, I know I was feeling better than I do before I ate it.

The only way I can eat eggs now is if they are mixed in grits. I think I'll have that for breakfast tomorrow, thanks!

I feel very lucky to be having surgery on Oct. 2.
PrettyThick1 replied to Allieg8tor's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Shhhhhh...don't jinx yourself! My process was super quick, too and I thought I was out of the woods after I got my preop instructions, but lo and behold my surgeon had me going for a sleep study 3 days before my surgery. LOL Thankfully it had no bearing on my scheduled surgery, he simply wanted to know if I had sleep apnea - it wasn't even required by insurance. I don't think a Psych eval should be avoided though, I definitely think it has it's place in this process. But as long as you have a decent support system and follow doctor's orders you'll be fine. Good luck, I hope you come to find that it was the best thing you could have done for yourself...I know I do! -

I got my first fill 3 weeks after surgery and the timing was perfect. -
How do you know when you have had to much before it is to late.
PrettyThick1 replied to lenadit2003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You were likely banded with saline in the band, I had 3cc's put in mine during surgery. Getting full quickly sounds like you might still be a bit swolen, the determining factor for a fill is how long you stay full. If you can't make it at least 3 hours or you're experiencing poor weight loss you need a fill. The person who does the fill will be able to determine if you need one though. It's been my experience that I don't feel like I need one until about a week before one is due. You'll know when it's time...you'll be hungry often and will feel like you can eat anything and everything. -
