My crazy scale sent me into panic mode!
PrettyThick1 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I've been on a roll lately, losing weight through the holidays like a champ. I've even progressed from weighing myself EVERY day...to every few days or so is about the norm for me these days. However, to my shock and almost horor, the scale told me I'd lost 10lbs. in 2 or 3 days. Now, had I just started out on this journey, it would be cause for celebration but considering I am almost to my goal, to drop a substantial amount of weight that quickly and without any change in routine would be a bit alarming for me. I stepped off, waited for it to reset on three different occasions...the scale said he same 146.4. I accepted it and vowed to start paying attention to what I was eating and drinking because I was obviously TOO good at this thing. I'm happy to say that when I weighed myself this morning, I was at a more reasonable weight - I've still lost about a pound, but not TEN! Yikes! -
if you're not getting full...go in for a top-off, you can stall your weightloss by getting fills too slowly.
-
It took me 3 fills to get to the green zone. I was banded with 3cc's and went between fill appointments to get an additional .5cc's to top off my first fill. I am now at 5.5cc's and have been in the green since August 19, 2013.

going on cruise and lapband
PrettyThick1 replied to Cindy Fischer's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Considering how I feel right now, if it were me and since you are questioning it yourself I think you should get a slight unfill. I don't think it would be an issue if you didn't, but really think about it. -
I would suggest checking other areas of the forum for previous answers, I've gotten lots of helpful information from reading old posts.

I keep forgetting I'm not actually getting the "Lap"-Band...
PrettyThick1 replied to Wendydarling19's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the Allergen. There are minor differences, it seems that Lap-band users lose at a faster rate, I don't get it...they aren't that much different. -
I've tried to get friends hired on here at work before, to no avail. It's strange how I was just able to walk into our VP's office and let him know I needed a job for my boyfriend so he could move to Texas. It took less than one minute for him to respond "done, what job do you want for him?" I knew I chose the right dress to wear today! LOL

I'm 5 lbs. from my goal and my port is very apparent now. When I started this journey, there was so much fat around my middle, I could hardly feel the port, much less see it. Well now, most of the fat is gone and the port is very high profile and I'm self conscious during sex because it's so hard and very noticeable. What are my options? I'm going for a Brazilian Butt Lift (yeah, my junk is gone and I'm relocating the rest of my fat so I can put it back) in March, so I don't want to do anything too drastic that might make me loose more weight - I can't really afford to lose another ounce of fat. Any suggestions?

I've learned that my biggest critics, you know the type: overweight themselves, says you don't need it, WLS is the easy road, you look fine the way you are...I could go on and on. It has been my experience that these people secretly want WLS and the positive outcome it gives, but for any number of reasons they can't or don't get it (no insurance, unable to self-pay, other's opinions). The funny thing is, just two weeks ago, my niece who is by all accounts my biggest critic (talk about me like a DOG to our family) told me I looked better FAT (mind you she tips the scales at around 275). Oh...but what a difference two short weeks makes...now she's waiting for her insurance to kick in on her new job so she can also be banded. She's observed my journey and can't get it done fast enough! Moral: Don't let someone talk you out of something you want for yourself. Critic/Hater = Envy

My Favorite Poem - for those of you who need peace today.
PrettyThick1 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After replying to negative comments from an experienced bandster, it occurred to me that this person sounds miserable. This person is always a Debbie Downer, finding ways to knock people off of their well-earned pedestals...not just on my post, but in a lot of the posts they reply to. With that in mind, I thought they as well as others might enjoy this as much as I do. This is for you...you should know who you are. Desiderata by Max Ehrman, 1927 Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment; it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy. -

No...it sounds like your post was intended to shoot me down. But I digress and will leave you with this, my favorite poem. It gives me comfort and it sounds like you might need a little peace in your life. I hope it helps. And PrettyThick! I know you are in Texas which is a total different world of where I am, and I know you are riding high on your slim body and perks that comes along with it....I am wishing you all the perks, you can get..... Hi Nana: I've had 4 promotions since I've been here. My last one was just before I was banded in June and I received a 6% raise at that point. I was notified of my insane pay increase when I returned to work on January 6, this is called a pay-grade adjustment since I was "grandfathered-in" and changes occurred that were not filtered to me in a timely manner - which resulted in 20k more per year - to my knowledge this has no happened before, but we don't go around discussing our salaries or bonuses, either. Say what you want, if this is descrimation then everyone should be so blessed. You know what? As I think about it...it's more of a "southern" thing.... I grew up in Atlanta, and before I relocated to Mid-Atlantic, Washington, DC, Maryland areas, I remember this type of behavior down in Atlanta. I think this is why I Left...It has been almost 20 years since I left the deep south! It was "oh she's so pretty" attitude rather than "does she know what she is doing"...lol... When I moved north it was a "different" atmosphere, MOST of the women in the Maryland, DC and northern, Virginia areas were Highly educated and is the only area in the US where most women have college degrees and are in higher positions...I guess because a lot of women work on Capitol Hill, in DC.. And equal rights for women are more prominent in the Washington DC areas and MOST women in the DC areas make MORE money than men....they don't play that here in fact, men will get fired if they play that type of nonsense...and it's venturing on sexual harassment and discrimination...IF they try to discriminate based on weight it will be more subtle and not in your face...lol. And...it's not that type of atmosphere in the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia areas and MANY women are managers, directors, etc and own their own business. Nana, this may be true now, but Capitol hill women in the 60's and 70's(maybe even still) had to be pretty, well dressed, and smart, in that order!(in fact back then, there was no slacks either!)so maybe they have moved forward quicker than the "South" but then I haven't been inside the offices of the senate and congress. Just saying! Karen..aka..kll724 I think everyone IS missing my point. I am not saying professional women don't have to "look good". In FACT MOST professional women who make a LOT OF MONEY....MUST dress for success and LOOK GOOD in their clothes... Heck I got my lap band because I wanted to look "better" in my clothes and gain more confidence...BUT while I WAS obese I got the SAME jobs, and I was not treated any different..however...I WAS treated differently by other male colleagues...but they were not my boss...LOL.. Also you RARELY see very OBESE professional women in the media (TV) and women on Capitol Hill, especially in the Mid-Atlantic region (Washington, Virginia, Maryland) that are severely obese... MOST women who want to get ahead KNOW that if they WANT TO COMPETE in the business world they must LOOK good in their clothes and that comes WITH being thinner...NOT necessarily being a size 6....remember some women CAN STILL look good in a size 18. My point to PrettyThick is that it seems like sexual discrimination that while she had being working on her job for the last 9 years and all of a sudden she gets a "promotion" AFTER she lost weight and was invisible before...TO ME that sounds like discrimination....especially if she gets the raise not based on "job performance".... You don't have to preach to me about bias against obese women in the workforce, I know it exist very well...and it's very sad...but my point was SOME areas like the Mid-Atlantic region it is not as in your face discrimination, most women are given promotions and raises based on merit...not necessarily based on what size they wear... -

Don't toot your horn too loudly, I'm from the midwest and yes, it is different but there are other issues as well. Northwest Indiana, Chicago, Detroit, D.C., Maryland and Virginia...no, it's not so much about weight there, you guys are covered up 1/2 of the year so you can disguise your physical features more - here in warm weather, we flaunt it...even if we ain't got it. I lived in Atlanta, too...but I left for other reasons. Boys like boys more than boys like girls. Period. You know what? As I think about it...it's more of a "southern" thing....
