Hello!
I had a lap band placed in 2013. I had lost 30 lbs. then after complications I gained 25 lb back in 1 year. I had 4 people that I knew that had the sleeve done in 2013 and after 3 years they all look amazing. So I opted to have the lap band removed and have the sleeve. I have had my up and downs because upon my first consult I did not make the requirements by 5 lbs! But It was not an official appointment for the sleeve as I was acaully asking about the removal of my lap band. Well lucky for me it was the Holidays which I had no problem for my very first visit I made the body fat requirement. I was never so happy in my life that I had actually gained weight because I made it!. I also changed insurance companies because my insurance company would not cover the surgery since I had the lap band already. So I did some research and with some luck I was still in the time frame to change insurance and research the one that would cover me. So I held my breath for a while hoping it would all work out and it did. Now I faced another challenge . because I was on the borderline of qualifying I could not gain any weight or lose more than 5 lbs during the next few months. It was a challenge but I was so happy when I was able to start the pre-surgery diet. Before surgery I went from 205 lbs to 194. Post surgery I'm not going to lie was pretty awful. My bowels weren't moving and neither was my bladder. I had to be straight cathed 2 times! I hated that more than anything. As far as handling the liquids though I was very nauseated. I think though it was more from the pain medicine . Once I got home and was moving around pretty good. everything worked out. My first Dr. Visit I was down to 175lbs. for some reason I'm just kind of hovering around that weight . I'm excited to see what the future holds for me!
