Caribbean sleevers? Need some support
mistysj replied to tastic's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You can eat lots of veggies and low fat meat like goat, fish, and jerk chicken/ pork. And fruit! if you cook it yourself you can make it lower fat. try to avoid the fried foods though I bet that is hard. I think if it fill up on protein first then you will do great! And yes I hope I lose as much as you have! -

Vsg Negative Reference In Book 'weight Loss Surgery For Dummies'?

This time is different because its a different mechanism. Instead if under-eating your stomach you are aiming to feel full at every meal, and eating a lot of protein. These things are like a breath of fresh air to your body. It starts to let go of the weight that it piled on when it thought it was starving. It doesn't do it in a hurry because it doesn't trust you yet. You haven't been very nice to it in the past with all those diets and weight fluctuations. It's normal to lose weight slowly because your body likes to stay in equilibrium. Also I'm sure you are still losing it faster than you gained it. At the same time, the fullness and protein will repair your metabolism, which is probably really slow now.

I have had almost no pain. I had a single dose of morphine in the recovery room that took the pain from about a 8 to about a 2. After that, just Tylenol. My surgery was the 14th May. There seems to be a broad spectrum of experiences on these boards. I'm also having no trouble getting my shakes and liquids down. I took a 45 minute walk today. I can already sleep on my side.

I have the opposite issue. My weight is all in my waist so I always have a muffin top and the legs are way too big. I pray my proportions change, but if not, I may learn to make my own clothes or at least alter them to take in the legs.

I'm glad it is helpful. Truth be told I am feeling great! When I got back from my 45 minute walk (4000 steps already done) I had half an espresso optislim shake. Then I decided to treat myself and gave myself a foot treatment that has to stay on for 10 minutes, then had a shower. Now I'm back out on the deck and its warm enough for a tank top! Having the other half of my shake and enjoying the weather. I am washing the linens too since they weren't too heavy to carry. I'm glad I've taken the time off so I can focus on getting all the liquids in, but other than that I would have no trouble working at least a half day. I'm a bit of a workaholic though so I'm not letting myself check my work email etc for at least the first week. I think I will feel up to going to mass on Sunday and that will probably be my first outing. Unless I decide to walk to the shops this afternoon and have a coffee.

I'm not a vet but I think what I'm about to say is very common. Before surgery I was very happy about every area of my life except my weight. I'm very successful in my career, I'm married to a wonderful man, I love where I live, I love my hobbies. My struggle with obesity has tainted all the other areas because I have had the constant question "If I am so successful elsewhere, why can't I lose weight?" I think it will take a big load off my shoulders and free me to have a less skewed view of my life. I'm not saying my life is perfect other than the weight. Im not scape-goating all my problems on my weight. I hope this makes sense.

I got it online for my Kindle. It's available at Amazon. Fair warning it doesn't mention the sleeve at all but the recipes are still great. There is also a blog called Eggface that has great recipes though most of them are for the solid food phase. I was so cold yesterday it was ridiculous. Being very proactive today so I don't get chilled. I think it is partly my metabolism changing and partly that it was actually cold. It's warm in the sun on the veranda now and I'm wearing track pants, a big jumper, and slippers. And drinking a coffee. I've started taking the Tramadol morning and night even though I wasn't taking it in hospital. I'd rather be as comfortable as possible. I'm feeling ok but have noticed some general muscle soreness that wasn't obvious until today. I'm able to sleep on my sides now thank goodness. It did take a while to get used to lying flat in bed but I managed to sleep a solid 8 hours. I figure after I finish my coffee I will go for a short walk before attempting a Protein shake. I'm curious how long it will take me to have the coffee. I have it black but it tastes a bit more bitter than I remember it. Sorry for the long post but I figure that some people who are pre-op might like to hear how it is going.

The W is a different cut. You can't really compare them. You also can't generalize because every brand is different.
-
Agree. 14-day nexium with antibiotic. Easy.

The sleeve is the first part of the DS. Some people only lose 15 or so BMI points with the VS, but can then be converted to the DS. You don't have to choose the DS straight away.

I don't think willpower is the missing piece. Most of us have showed remarkable willpower in most areas of our lives. There is more going on with food. Also, willpower is a finite resource. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ego_depletion

If its gas in her bowels the gas-x will help. If its in her shoulder, only a heating pad and walking will help.

Jimbo I think you could use some more protein. There are lots of things you can do with ricotta. Or mashed baked beans. Or adding peanut flour to shakes? I'm new to this but I bought Weight Loss Surgery Recipes for Dummies and it has some amazing recipes for each stage.

It was hard work but I got in 39g Protein and 6 glasses of Water today. I'm exhausted and ready for the diarrhea to be finished. Apparently it may be from the leak test drink. I'm so thankful I have two weeks off!

Third day post op and second day on fluids. Breakfast: 1/4 cup Greek yogurt 1/4 cup coffee with milk Lunch: 1/2 sachet optislim Soup Afternoon (spaced widely) 70ml frozen fruit stick (100% juice, no pulp) 1/2 sachet chocolate Protein shake 1/2 cup apple juice Also about 4 cups of plain Water so far. I've walked for about 45 minutes total today. For dinner I will have the other half soup and then the other half shake for dessert. I'm supposed to work up to 3 sachets a day for the Fluid phase.

I have a 34 too. my doctor said it is as aggressive as he is comfortable going because there is very little to work with if there are any problems. He says 38 is standard for Australia. I did not obsess about the size and did not even think to ask until today. Since I have read the studies showing that all sizes work well, it doesn't worry me.

A heating pad works great for the shoulder pain.

Took a second walk just now before lunch I has half am optislim soup. I'm about to have a fruit juice ice pop. The worst thing is when I get some air down my throat when I swallow too quick and I get a pain in my shoulder.
