    Anyone with PCOS?

You can get rid of the main symptom of PCOS, which is insulin resistance. The insulin resistance comes from all the fat stored around your abdomen, which is pumping out estrogen like crazy. Warning, you will likely get quite fertile after you drop about 10% of your weight so make sure you are taking precautions until your doctor says it is ok to get pregnant. For me, I can tell you that losing my ovaries did not impact my PCOS, but I lost 70 pounds (on WW) and my periods and ovulation became like clockwork. Until I gained it again. Now obviously losing the weight won't help me since I have had a hysterectomy since then. So I am now in menopause at 35 but I hope I lose the PCOS symptoms as the weight drops. I have already lost almost 10%! Just 3 kg to go.
  2. Bec, I found that when I was on liquids only, my teeth would have an odd coating on them by halfway through the day and I had to brush them. Also my tongue would get a coating. I think it is all the liquid protein. If you are using high-quality shakes such as Optifast or Optislim you should be getting all your vitamins and minerals from 3 shakes a day, so I wouldn't worry about that.

    Chicken burrito puree

Everything is cooked already. I just microwave it for 2 minutes when I want to eat it. I should specify that it takes COOKED pureed chicken.
  4. Congratulations, Kim! How are you feeling? How is your recovery going?

    How to puree chicken

I don't know about you, but I was intimidated by the thought of pureeing chicken. Here is how I did it. It turned out great. Ingredients: 4 chicken breasts, boneless skinless 2 cans or one carton chicken broth Use a wide pan with a flat bottom and a lid, like a sauté pan. Place the chicken breasts in the pan. It's ok if it is a tight fit. Use enough broth to just cover the meat. Put the lid on and cook on the lowest heat that will produce a slow boil. Once you get to the slow boil, set your timer for 20 minutes. If the broth gets too low, add a bit more. After 20 minutes the meat should be so tender it is falling apart. Put one breast in the food processor with about 1/4 cup of the broth. Blitz until it is puréed. Check for chunks. Repeat with the remaining breasts. I recommend freezing the purée in 3.5 oz (100 gram) portions.

    How to puree chicken

Microwave for 1 minute if you don't want it hot (like the pumpkin ricotta) or 2 minutes if you want it hot. To thaw the chicken on its own I would freeze it flat in a zip loc bag, and put the bag in cold Water for 15 minutes to thaw.
  7. No I didn't watch it, but the Australian media is so harsh on obese people in general. We listen to the ABC all the time and every time there is a segment on the "obesity epidemic" I feel like obese people get all of the blame and shame. I feel like in Australia, anyone with more than a 30 BMI is considered huge. It really brings up a lot of mixed feelings for me. I'm glad I am losing weight and will be a lean person, but I also feel ambivalent about conforming to society's expectations about my body! I hope that doesn't sound crazy to you guys. I hope I do better on meal timing today. I'm also thinking about next week. My husband will be out of town. Being alone at home is a huge binge trigger for me. I physically can't binge right now so I'm just wondering how I will cope? I guess I will go for a walk if the urge strikes!

    Chicken Casserole Puree

I had this for lunch. It is a bit bland but it's still nice to have something that's not a sweet liquid! I found it very soothing. Careful though, some of the corn from the vegetable soup did not puree. I just picked it out and didn't try to eat it.

    Chicken burrito puree

I'm eating it RIGHT NOW and it is so good. It's so nice to be on the puree stage and have some savory foods!
  11. This puree stuff is so weird. It is strange to actually not be able to finish 1/2 cup. Also, I screwed up and lunch got way delayed so now I have no idea how I am going to get in afternoon snack AND dinner. I am running outta time.
  12. Welcome to the thread! I haven't had any back aches but my incisions were sure tender for the first few days. You have lost an amazing amount for less than a week sleeved!
  13. Liquid calories will go right through you and not fill you up. Drinking liquids with your meals will make your stomach empty faster and you will be hungry faster. That's why you are supposed to wait 30+ minutes before and after meals to drink. Some people have been told 45 minutes or an hour, even.
  14. Are you drinking with your meals? Are you getting many liquid calories?

    "Skinny Thinking" book club?

Not WLS. It's abut changing your emotional relationship with food. It's not a diet book.

    "Skinny Thinking" book club?

Awesome. Let me know when you guys are ready to discuss step 1. I will say I have already used some of the advice in step 1!
  18. I lost another 1.5 kg! That's 6 kg in two weeks! BMI has gone from 43.6 to 40.1! Almost out of Super Morbidly Obese! And I go to purée today! So many exclamation points! I have band practice tonight so I will be lugging a trumpet, music stand, and music. We will see how this goes! It also means I will probably be having a shake for dinner just because I can't work out the logistics of sitting down to a meal. This morning I am having a really thick leftover smoothie that I made last night (you can eat it with a spoon). I think I managed about 1/3 last night, will have another 1/3 now, and still have some left over. Maybe I will eat it when I get home after band. It is really nice. Has banana, pumpkin, applesauce, a little yogurt, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.

    Anyone with PCOS?

Also for the facial hair, I had better luck with electrolysis than laser and its cheaper. Laser can burn your face. Waxing or plucking makes the hair grow back thicker. This means that if you accidentally pull out peach fuzz it will come back as a true hair. If you can't or won't do electrolysis the best thing to do is shave. There is a great forum for hair problems called Hairtell. You can google it.

  21. The real savings is the possibility of living longer and in better health. How many truly obese old people do you see out and about? Not many! They go to church and that's all they can manage. I don't want to be like that. Tomorrow is my second at-home weigh in. I'm excited to see what it will say. It's not going to be another 4.5 kg loss but I hope it's a good one to make up for the third-week stall everyone seems to have!
