Ah, this explains the more casual attitude toward smoking. It is really prevalent in the Middle East and Asia still. I will cheer you on with quitting smoking. I know you can do it. Can you go to your GP for help? There are medications you can use to help you quit.

Protein and carbs have 4 calories per gram. Fat has 9.

You look amazing! I'm jealous of you tall people who look great at basically my start weight! -
Where did you find the workbook? That might be a good way to do it.

I hope my libido wakes up soon. I think the fat is still smothering it. I want for my mouth to water. -
How is the reading going? Any thoughts?

2 days post op burning pain in forearms
mistysj replied to Karmen081020's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can get a rash from an allergic reaction. Maybe to the protein. This happened to a sleeved friend of mine. As with every other medical question, check with your doctor. -
You can make consommé yourself. It is stock made with the bones. You simmer the bones along with some meat, vegetables and spices. It's even better if you roast the bones first. It has a much richer taste than plain beef stock.

Fat girl problems - 1 year out what cant you do
mistysj replied to angry's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Drinking while you are eating lets you eat more and faster. If you don't drink with your food, you need to slow down and chew well. Then you really savor the food and you feel not just physically satisfied, but emotionally too. Lots of cultures do not ever drink with meals. This is the norm in India for instance. -
I'm apple and it starts at my feet and face and finally meets in the middle.

Discouraged and Embarrassed
mistysj replied to ElaineB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was cathed for my hysterectomy (where I could walk) but not for my knee surgery (where I couldn't. Had to use a bed pan. Yuck). Wasn't cathed for my sleeve because they expected me to be up and walking before I needed to pee. And this was the case. -
I'm sorry you are not feeling great Bec and Linky. I hope it will sort itself out soon. I walked to the shops and did my rockery shopping for the soft food phase! Lots of canned tuna, salmon, and chicken. Deli ham and chicken breast. Smoked salmon. String cheese. Baby bels. Crackers. eggs (hope I can tolerate them). Cereal. I am so excited! I also picked up a few kinds of gravy and finishing sauces. I also planned my purée phase food really well because I am almost out of it. All I have left is a few portions of the tuna and a couple of the chicken and rice.

I wondered.

I didn't get 85% of my stomach removed to break the rules.

I take a prenatal high potency vitamin called Elevit with iodine. It may only be available in Australia though. The pill is large but about the same size as Nexium and I have no trouble swallowing it.

2 days post op burning pain in forearms
mistysj replied to Karmen081020's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My breasts and chest got really red, almost purple. I thought I was bruised because of something during surgery but it died down after about day 3. The nurse thought it was weird and called the doctor but it turns out it wasn't a big deal. -
3 days out and feeling GREAT!

I was the same way. Make sure to post on the Easy Recovery thread: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/47767-anyone-have-a-relatively-easy-recovery-story/ -
I was given the guideline 1/2 cup at a sitting. So if you imagine the whole meal chewed up (a little gross I know) it might only be half a cup. But if you leave anything behind, let it be the carbs, not the protein. Good luck! I start the soft stage Tuesday and I have some of the same concerns.

I'm so proud of you. This will be a great "before" to your amazing "after." After your surgery when you are having trouble getting down all your fluids and you're having buyer's remorse, or when you hit the three-week stall, you can look back and draw motivation from this. You are a very strong woman and YOU GOT THIS. -
Apparently after day 3, the pre-op diet gets a lot better, if you follow it to the letter. Your body needs some time, but then you go into ketosis and your body gets used to it and you feel a lot better. Just remember, this will all be easier post-op. I am proud of you for sticking to it at the bowling alley.

I'm wishing I did the gastric bypass
mistysj replied to Lina12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bypass and sleeve results converge long-term. There is no statistical difference. There are reasons to choose bypass (reflux, severe type 2 diabetes), but amount of weight you can lose is not one of them. -
I hope you're feeling better now, Bec. I think the aches and pains are pretty normal the first week, but if you feel like something's wrong, call your doctor. Well I ate TOO MUCH for dinner, So that's what that feels like. I felt like I had the worst gas bubble all throughout my stomach area. It was hard to even move. Just a couple of spoons of salsa on top of my half cup of food. Ugh. Live and learn!

It doesn't sound corny at all! As for me, I got angry with a colleague and decided to leave and come home early. But then I felt guilty and logged back in from home. I don't think anyone noticed my tantrum.

Frequently Asked Questions
mistysj replied to Geminidrive's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
I have a request. Can the FAQ be curated by the veterans? There is a lot of misinformation (unintential I am sure) that gets bandied around by newbies. I think the FAQ should be trustable. I'd like to help out with it even though I'm not a veteran. Where do you suggest that the list is compiled, Alex? -
That sounds so good, and I can't wait! How do we find out how to help with the site? I really appreciate all of the hard work you put in behind the scenes.
