  1. I assume its the same as the One. It uses low-energy Bluetooth. It can sync via your phone or tablet, or a tiny USB dongle for your computer. Pretty seamless. It syncs to the Fitbit site and you give MFP permission to see the data from there, via an API. Then MFP compares what Fitbit thinks you burned with your activity in MFP and adjusts it, so there is no double counting. So if you ran while wearing the Fitbit but counted it in MFP separately, MFP would reduce your Fitbit calories so it all works out.
  2. Interesting, Sue! Maybe you can find a psychologist who specializes in bariatric patients. I am sure we have our own issues besides the "normal" ones. It is very good to be proactive. I will be interested to see what you find out. I don't know if you know but there is a forum on VST for veterans in maintenance. I already read it religiously so I can know what to expect later.

    Second guessing

You won't be free of comorbiditied forever. Your body can't continue to sail through carrying excess weight. But if you're not ready, don't do it. Give yourself time to try every other option. There is no need to rush.
  4. I have the Fitbit One and love it too. It is much more accurate than a standard pedometer and gives you a lot more info than just steps.
  5. You are doing so great, Bec! Glad to hear from you. Your second picture is not showing up for me though. I have an NSV. I walk to mass on Sundays. I used to leave at 8:15 and get there by 9:05 or so for 9:15 mass. Now I leave at 8:20 and get there by 9! I will have to start leaving 10 minutes later, I think!

Little things you never would of done.

That is an amazing NSV. Thank goodness for the surgery which helped you get to this point! I think you look beautiful so it is so hard for me to imagine you being ashamed of how you looked.

    WLS induced Hyperactivity

Could you set up an evening walk with her for once or twice a week? It will get her active and you can have time to talk and connect. Then maybe join a cycling club or something so you can make some active friends and get some exercise. Encourage your wife to pamper herself or have "me" time when you're off being hyperactive. I imagine she is probably feeling guilty and like you think she's lazy. You've changed the status quo of the relationship. It needs to find a new normal.

    Bathroom Help!

Be careful. Smooth Move has senna, which can cause permanent damage to your intestines.

    Cheesy Crab or Fish Cakes

1 large can crab meat (or tuna or salmon) 8 Arnotts Country cheese crackers, crushed finely (or other cheesy crackers. These are about twice the size of ritz, each) 1 egg 8 grams each celery, zucchini, onion, chopped very fine (you could use other veggies) 1/2 green onion, chopped fine Drain the crab, retain the juice. Beat the egg. Add crab, veggies, and crackers. Mix well. If dry, add a drizzle of the juice from the crab. Ads a pinch of salt and pepper. Heat a skillet and coat with oil. Form the cakes (I got 7) and fry, being careful they don't burn. Rest on a paper towel for a moment before serving. A serving of 2 cakes has 9 grams Protein, 5 grams fat, 6 grams carbs, and 111 calories. If you substitute, you will need to adjust the nutrition info. Appropriate for soft foods and beyond.
  10. I have a bulge both below and above my belly button! The one above is starting to deflate and get wrinkly. The lower one adds 2 pants sizes compared to my relatively skinny legs.
  11. Good luck Rootie! I did w2d3 yesterday and ran at 9kph about half the time.
  12. Holy crap, lymphoma! Straight to the scary stuff. I hope there is another explanation for your anemia. I'm happy that your doctor is happy with your progress. What does he think of your personal goal number?
  13. I've had a problem with sushi (the rice is tough) but not with sashimi so far. I have to make sure I get tender sashimi like tuna or salmon, and not the more chewy things. I can also have a small amount of dim sim or gyoza / pot stickers. I love edamame as a starter and I can have the equivalent of about 1/4 cup of individual Beans and it sits very well, and low fat and high Protein. My stomach got upset at lunch yesterday and I don't think it ever fully recovered. I'm feeling much better today and not very snacky. I'm eating lunch right now, a small can of tuna and cruskits. I'm a bit off cruskits but I bought too many boxes when I was first allowed to have them and I'm working through them. I prefer the 9-grain Vitaweats now. SO good..
  14. Morning. I did not tolerate my dinner last night. First time basically all of it came up. I'm afraid I might not tolerate steamed broccoli well and that's my favourite veggie! Dinner with best friend tonight. Sashimi. I'll also be working out at the gym. PTO Monday and Tuesday!

    Burping and sign of fullness

I do burp sometimes, but the weirdest thing is sometimes right after I swallow it feels like a stream of tiny bubbles works their way up. It makes a small noise but I'm not sure if anyone else notices. If I get too full, it affects my speaking voice. And I hiccup a few times, which is pretty uncomfortable.
  16. Hi all. Last few days have been very busy for me, but good. I've found myself snacking a little more and I need to reign that in. Not sure what the deal is, but since my trip it feels a little more permissible to have tastes here and there. Off topic, do any of you guys have experience as people managers and/or as project managers? If so, I'd like to talk to you privately if possible (via PM or email). It's not sleeve related, just career path related. Sorry if that's too weird, and if so, just ignore it. I find myself looking for what I can do besides the status quo, post-sleeve. Getting more confident?

    Got god?

  18. W2D2 done! I ran at 8 kph (5 mph) and walked at 5 kph (3 mph). The first interval of the running was kind of hard, but it got easier after that. The most annoying thing is having to adjust the treadmill. I wish I could just program in the top and bottom speeds and toggle it. I'd like to work my way up to 10 kph running by the end so I could actually do the 5k in half an hour.
  19. Sounds like you are doing great, Helen! Great job on the fluids. Remember your shakes count as fluids too. And I found chicken bouillon to be a godsend for getting my fluids in. Only 15 calories a serving.

    Surprisingly easy to gain weight..!

There is only one kind of estrogen but it is produced in multiple places in the body. The pituitary (everyone), the ovaries (premenopausal women, and a lot of it) and abdominal fat ( everyone). Estrogen can be turned into progesterone or testosterone by the body as needed. Women with PCOS / metabolic syndrome are not just Iinsulin resistant, but also estrogen resistant. Our bodies are pumping out so much of it that it causes serious health problems. But everyone needs some estrogen, just like everyone needs some testosterone. I'm post-hysterectomy and take daily estrogen even though I'm only 35. Since VSG, I've cut my estrogen in half. If I stopped taking it altogether, my bones would become brittle, hair would go grey and brittle, and skin would quickly age. I will be on HRT until I'm in my 60s most likely. I would never depend upon "natural" sources of it though, with their unpredictable potency and absorption rates. Edited to fix typo
  21. I agree! Still a loss. For what it's worth, I think I will lose nothing this week either, but I'm not letting it get me down. Guess what, Kelli? I entered my appointment with Di wrong into my calendar and I showed up at 11, to find out that my appointment was for 9! So I dropped off my food journal with her and rescheduled for next week. Feeling a bit stupid.
