  1. I DID IT! W4D3, outside! Actingnurse, I have done two days in a row a few times because of scheduling. It's not so bad once in a while though I do feel more tired.
  2. I did w4d2 yesterday at the gym as planned. W4d3 outside is today. I'm nervous because my right ankle is very bad and prone to collapse at any little thing, and if that happens I'm out of commission for several weeks. I'm going to be sooo careful. I also know it will feel harder without the treadmill pushing me along. I'm sure I'm going to be slow but I just want to finish. I need to start bringing shower stuff to the gym because I'm finally at the point where I'm too sweaty after my run to just dry off and put my work clothes back on. I'm not a stinky sweater but lately my hair is drenched after I'm finished running and doesn't dry out while I'm doing weights.
  3. I run at the gym near my work and two days off in a row plus a really busy day before that means that I am behind and will need to bring my gym stuff home and do w4d3 outside on Saturday. I'm a bit nervous about that!
  4. Love it! You both look fantastic.
  5. Congratulations Kelli! You are my hero. Lissa, you look so beautiful! And I love the walking NSV! And look at you letting yourself be photographed. Way to go!

  7. Sue, I'm sorry for your diagnosis but so thankful you could catch it earlier! This is my three-month check-in! I've lost 16.5 kg and 26% of my excess weight, and lost 8 BMI points. I went from a 20w in Autograph to an 18 (now W) at Target and from a 2xl top to an xl. Bra went from 22DD to 18C. Belt from L to M. I no longer take diabetes medication. And I am in week 4 of the Couch to 5K, running three times a week. I also spent the whole weekend at a music festival eating (smaller amounts of) what everyone else was having. I fekt completely normal! I gained a little under a kg but I will take it.
  8. Week 4 day 1 done. Whew! I had to dial the running back to 8 kph. The first round of running was the hardest. Just gotta get started.
  9. Sue, I think maybe the people who put weight back on aren't paying attention. I think we have to always be careful and adjust if we gain a kilo or two, rather than let it turn into 5 or 10. I also think when you're at goal you don't get that weekly scale reward so you have to set other goals. Maybe fitness or life goals. I think it is good to be prepared rather than looking through rose coloured glasses. At least I hope so!
  10. W3D3 done, 1/3 of the way there! I will say that today was really hard. I didn't realize until after the run that the intervals got longer today. I thought it would be the same as the previous two days. I'm also tired because I had to run two days in a row, because of scheduling constraints. I could really feel it.
  11. I just finished week 3 day 2! Victorious!

Why did you choose sleeve over bypass?

You probably won't lose your appetite forever with the sleeve. Most people report that the hunger comes back (sometimes quite forcefully) around the one-year mark. A few people have hunger even a few days post-op.

Why did you choose sleeve over bypass?

Sleevers do often have malabsorption and gastric bypass patients still have stomach acid. Everyone, please do your research. I chose the sleeve but it isn't right for everyone. OP, you are going to get mostly pro-sleeve answers here. Ask in the RNY forums too.

    Stress cravings

Could you bake for a local shelter or other charity?
  15. Congrats Bec! I didn't make it to the gym yesterday which means I need to go today and tomorrow.
  16. Happy birthday, Melissa! I'm off again tomorrow and it will actually be a lazy day. Today I was out and about half the day. Dietitian this morning. She's happy with my food but gave me some suggestions for helping with my gastro issues. She wants me to see my GP to make sure I still don't have a bug from India. I guess I will get to that by the end of the week. Weigh in tomorrow. It's hard to believe it will be 3 months next week.
  17. Your stomach is still numb and healing and it has no idea what you can and can't tolerate. You are at risk of a leak or infection in your staple line until 6+ weeks out. Why aren't you following your doctor's plan? Is it really worth the risk?

    Vitamins

You should have no problem with capsules or tablets after the first couple weeks. You will find higher quality vitamins with fewer additives. Vitamins are not something to skimp on, though. You just spent a lot of money and effort on surgery. Spend a little on decent supplements. Those gummies have about as much potency as a jolly rancher most of the time.
  19. Congratulations, Bean! I just finished w3d1. It was hard!
