    The Uncomfortable Truth....

And can we get some new lips, LL? Every time I see that one I think of Miley Cyrus and her awful tongue.

    The Uncomfortable Truth....

Awesome post, Hunter! It is food you don't have OCD along with your ADD because then you would feel bored by reading the whole thread but you would feel compelled to anyway!
  3. I really hope you are through the hard stuff.

I Need Some New Recipes! Help!

Check out the recipe swap sun-forum here on BariatricPal!
  5. Dinner: I have a concert to play in tonight and will have to eat between warm-up and performance. I decided to have a salad made from thin cabbage (I don't like lettuce), bell pepper, onion, 50 grams of ham, baby bel. Homemade dressing of rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and berry jam. 200 calories, 15 grams Protein I'm also having 1/4 of a laddu and 1/4 of a barfi (Indian desserts) which you can see in the top of my cool salad bowl.
  6. Ham is pretty lean if you don't eat the rind. I has 50g of ham, steamed cauliflower, and a couple crackers with cream cheese for lunch today.

    Hot Sauce/vinegar?

There is no problem with a few noodles. Just realize they are filling and not much protein so pick out the meat first.

    Hot Sauce/vinegar?

I used hot sauce in my chicken bouillon during my full liquid phase. No problem.
  9. All great advice. You probably never need to attempt to eat more than 1/2 cup at a sitting, even quite a way out. Some people can manage more but not many women, apparently. When in doubt, under-estimate. Remember to measure for volume, not just weight. It takes a lot of popcorn to be 3 ounces, but you still shouldn't have 3 cups or so of popcorn.
  10. Next time you try broccoli, only have the stems. Cube them small and boil /steam /stir fry them until they are really soft. I had trouble with the florets for quite a while.

    Compulsive Overeating

Do you think with his current level of compulsion, he would eat around the surgery? I wish he would come to the conclusion to get some external help for this, way before having a surgery that can only ever be one of many tools in the arsenal.

    The Uncomfortable Truth....

    That makes some so-called sense.
  14. That's very sweet! I also read this thread from cover to cover when I found it and felt like I knew everyone by the time I first posted. The support here is great and I still think we are the best support group on here!

    The Uncomfortable Truth....

Don't know where else to put this. RIP Nelson Mandela http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nelson_Mandela
  16. When I quote a post in the ios app, it doesn't put the attribution of the person I'm quoting and I don't think it is styled as a quote in the web view. You can see it on the last post I made on this thread: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/289791-the-uncomfortable-truth/ Attaching a couple screenshots. The first is how it looks in the app and the second is if I click the post in the app to see the HTML view.

    That's her plan I think!

    The Uncomfortable Truth....

I'm so sorry Laura. Similar thing with my brother but he overdosed on meth. After years of drugs, prison, and otherwise dangerous choices. I was the pleaser and he was the rebel. The same bad things happened to us. I still feel guilt that I survived and he couldn't. He was only 30. I was 32 when he died. My mom hides behind his death too.

    The Uncomfortable Truth....

Laura, your last few days make so much sense now. I'm glad your mother is gone. Family is so tough especially with as much baggage as yours comes with. Pat yourself on the back for getting through it.

    Anybody Else Cheating?

I believe word meaning and choice are important, and cheating is the wrong word here. It's only cheating if you do it to try to win. Failing to study for a test is not called cheating. Getting the answers ahead of time is cheating, because you will do better than you deserve because of your behavior or actions. There is no benefit to you for failing to follow your surgeon's plan. It would be cheating if it helped you lose weight faster or otherwise gave you a better outcome. What you are doing won't help you in any way, even if it doesn't hurt you. This is not cheating. It is putting yourself at risk. Playing chicken with your health. Call it risky behavior, not cheating.

A Whole Year Of Changes - Surgiversary!

You look great of course! But even better, your quality of life is a complete turnaround. And I know why they call it hot yoga, because you look HOT in that photo!
  22. I ran in much colder weather than that when I lived in Indiana. Do a warm-up run a couple hours early if possible. You can get a scarf or neck wrap to breathe through to help with the cold air if you have trouble with that, but you probably won't after you are warmed up. Also you will probably be happiest in tights on bottom and layers on top (a synthetic or thin wool or silk shirt like thermal underwear, followed by a sweatshirt which you can remove). When you get moving you won't feel cold anymore. Wear a ski cap on your head. If your ears get cold you can pull it over them. Also moisturizer on your face and Chapstick on your lips, especially if it is windy. Gloves are good. But really, I always found running in the cold quite pleasant after I got started. It was just the getting out the door that was hard.
  23. I have this a lot. At least a few a week. Sometimes sauté mushrooms instead of the bacon. Sometimes I make a piece of toast as well but I only eat about 1/3 of it. Of course, we have three hens so we have a lot of eggs for basically "free" (they don't eat much grain).
