  1. I hope you don't mind I moved this thread to the Protein Powders forum. If you whisk it with enough cold water to make a paste and then gradually add the hot water it might not clump. I had the Optifast brand and it said to do it that way. I also found that it was better with milk than water and I had better luck heating it gently on the stove while whisking.
  2. Looks like you got some good answers. I've moved this to the post-op forum so you can get even more!
  3. Nicely done! I ran 6km on the treadmill this morning. I think it helped cure my jetlag!
  4. Welcome to the sleeved side! I hope your recovery goes as smoothly as mine did!

    Boot Camp Diet

Where is the proof that they are not absorbed as well? I have never heard or read that.

    Daily Blog?

I moved this out of the Recipe Swap into Food And Nutrition. Also check out a blog called The World According to Eggface. She blogs her bento boxes among other things.

FYI I have moved this thread from Recipe Sharing to the Food and Nutrition forum so it will be easier to find.

    Anybody Else Cheating?

    Uncooked grits?? Why?!
  9. For those who have trouble with the bakery? From my experience you can't do much damage and it will make you feel like crap. I can do one yeast donut or half a cake donut or half a croissant or about 1/3 small slice of cheesecake. And all but the cheesecake make me feel like crap for an hour. Sometimes I decide to have something and then I count it and move on. No way could I finish a whole dozen Krispy Kreme anymore.

    This New Site

If you open your settings by clicking the gear next to your name at the top of the website (not the app), you can set your surgery type. Then by default you will only see the forums related to your surgery when you click "Current Content" in the website or the app. You can also filter the forums on the website so you can see exactly the forums you want.

How'd you go with beer? I haven't attempted anything bubbly since surgery.
  13. Oops. Then I'm not a veteran either! I missed that.

What you see here is my belly, the tray table, and all the extra seat belt! I'm on my way to India for two weeks (for work)! Running shoes are packed.

    The Uncomfortable Truth....

Thanks for sharing that. You are absolutely right. It is also my go-to for celebrating. Who ever heard of an "I got a new job" run or a protein shake toast for an anniversary? It's so hard to change lifelong habits b
  17. Awesome! You're just a little ways ahead of me and it's great to hear your success! I'm about to take a long international flight and not only do I know I'll be comfortable on the plane, but my clothes packed better in my suitcase! Who realized all the little perks of losing weight? Love my sleeve!

    Post Op Day 2

Hang in there, y'all. The gas can take several days to pass. Walking and tiny sips. I liked hit broth and watered down fruit juice my first couple weeks. Remember anything liquid counts toward your water. I also recommend making up only half your protein shake at a time or putting it in the freezer until it is just starting to turn slushy. Walking and sipping is your full time job right now.
  19. Yep. I think for me part of my brain is constantly engaged with surgery and weight loss stuff even almost 7 months out. I also have lots of work-related stuff on my mind and it is all different stuff so I tend to bounce between it. I am more socially and professionally active now because I'm more confident and that creates distractions too.

    Who Else Is Not Losing?

Your body is healing. You are retaining water, you have changed your diet drastically, and your glycogen stores are depleted and recharging. It's called the 3 week stall even though some of us have it at 2 or 4 weeks and a rare few of us don't have it. Don't change things. Just keep following your bariatric team's plan.
  21. Yep. Try some denser protein like chicken, ham, or tuna. You might be able to finish 40 grams of dense protein now but I doubt it. If you can, that's ok too. Listen to your sleeve. Our capacities can differ. Not just yogurt, cottage cheese, and eggs. Try to limit your starchy carbs because they have been known to cause cravings.

    Real Food?

I have eaten all of that stuff. No problem. Moist things (which is most of what you named) are easy. Try to make them high protein. I can only manage one pancake with one or two pieces of bacon. It's not a great choice so it is an occasional food. Spaghetti I eat mostly the sauce with about 1/4 the normal serving of pasta and end up leaving some noodles behind. Hamburger is absolutely great especially with a low fat gravy or sauce. Of course wait until you are cleared. You can use some casseroles, enchilada, and hamburger in the soft food stage.
  23. I stayed under 800 most of the time my first 6 months. I'm allowing myself to drift up to 900 or 1000 now and finally getting more than 40 grams protein a day. I can easily get 60 with the higher calories. It's not just calories that are important. I hope my metabolism eventually allows me to eat 1500 or so because I think I could very comfortably do that for life.
  24. It won't be long until you can gulp. Hang in there. What I used to do if I noticed I took too big of a sip was to divide it into two or three swallows and hold some in my mouth. You can't damage your sleeve by gulping but it could make you uncomfortable or make you vomit.
