  1. It's hot in Australia as it is the middle of simmer. I ran 6 km this morning at 8:30 and still roasted! I'm glad I got in the run even though I have been main-lining water for 3 hours since and just now feeling less dehydrated. As for running being fun? That's not a requirement to me. It feels the least like work of any exercise I have tried, can be done everywhere, is efficient (burns lots of calories per unit of time), and works for me. I guess I have accepted that not everything in life has to be fun.
  2. I don't have kids. I have found meaning in my family, work, my faith, social justice, and music. I agree that our lives need purpose. I also think that often when we are obese, it detracts from the value we get from the rest of our lives. It is an ever-present "yeah but". "I'm successful but I'm still fat." "I provide for my family but I'm a failure with my weight". And on and on. And sometimes the obesity gives us a scapegoat to blame all our problems on. If we "fix" it quickly, such as with bariatric surgery, it can be quite shocking when our lives don't turn into a perfect fairy tale.

    Ideas On Food

Maybe too fast and/or too much. I could barely hold just the egg at that stage. Remember you don't have to finish the meal. Also some people have trouble with eggs early on. A meal might take you 20 minutes right now and that's normal.
  4. Is this pinned on purpose? I don't think it is but wanted to check before getting it unpinned.

    Post-op Diet Solids

You should be measuring things like meat using a scale. 3 ounces is probably all the meat you will be able to handle for quite a while, if you can even handle that much. Note that other things will be heavier. I can eat 50 grams of lean protein but 90 grams of Greek yogurt, for instance. The total volume of your sleeve is probably not more than 1/2 cup so even if you measure things by weight, keep in mind that the whole meal needs to fit in the space of 1/2 cup. Also you may not be able to finish such a meal. Just eat as much as you can, but not to the point of extreme fullness.
  6. I have heard from several vets on here that your face may fill in again given time. The fat in your body can redistribute and the skin of your face can firm up a bit. Me? I'd trade my fat ass for a thin face, personally.
  7. I was pretty food obsessed but I wasn't actually hungry. You can have some splurges when you are on liquids (ice pops) and purée (ice cream, cream cheese) since you don't have much at all. I was just so ready to have some salty foods and that was my main struggle. I'm back from India and today we are on a boat at Tangaluma for my husband's company Christmas party. I just went for a swim and I'm drying off. He is snorkeling. I feel so much more confident this year in a suit!

Nov 2013 Sleevers Progress So Far...

It's time to move this thread to the monthly support forum so you all can get even more support. I will make the change for you.

    August sleevers progress

If you go to your profile in the website and set your surgery type, you will only see forums for your surgery type and general forums that are not divided by surgery type. I'll move this thread to the monthly support forum and you may get more replies there.

    Can't stop losing?!?

At some point you will. You can get your metabolism tested too. Just remember to stay at a calorie target for a couple weeks to see what happens before moving up again. It seems like most people have a pretty narrow maintenance range. It's not possible for you to keep eating more and keep losing forever. If it was then you wouldn't have needed surgery. Just be patient. You won't waste away.
  11. The hangover was not the worst but I was feeling rough until lunch time. I just kept drinking Water. Anyway it is definitely not something I plan on doing often. I'm actually at Changi now flying home!
  12. Not ideal at all but I just had two donuts from Dunkin Donuts. So don't binge on donuts before surgery thinking you won't be able to have them again.
  13. When you have questions about medications, talk to your surgeon. The internet is not the right place to get medical advice.
  14. So much bourbon. I must have had three doubles. I will regret this in the morning! LOL

    Can't stop losing?!?

I have seen recommendations to add 100 calories from good fats and monitor weight for a few weeks, add 100 more and repeat until you find your happy place calorie-wise. 100 calories is not much and good fats won't add much bulk so you can still get your Protein. Peanut Butter, avocado, cheese, switching to 2% milk, having the occasional ice cream or chocolate are some suggestions. Just track, weigh, measure, and be honest with yourself about trigger foods and sliders. By the way, a BMI of 22 seems right in the middle of the healthy range. Maybe your body likes it there. I hear that it can take a while after your weight stabilizes for your face to fill out again since most people lose in their faces first. So consider that you might be at your body's happy weight now and hopefully you will be able to stabilize. It is unlikely that you won't be able to stop if you can just add a few calories at a time.
  19. I would ask in the threads who wants to be merged. Support groups tend to bond over time and not want to be separated or inundated with "strangers" sometimes.

    stalled

Remember how long it took you to gain the weight and how fast it has come off, take a breath, have patience with yourself and work your program.

    vitamins and pills

And I was prescribed and given fairly large tablets in the hospital the day after surgery and had no trouble. Always best to go by your own surgeon's guidelines.

When did you go back on birth control?

I bet your partner is happy! Please start another thread for this in the Powder Room so this one stays on track. I'm moving this one to the Powder Room too.
  23. Barring a specific recommendation from your surgeon, NSAIDs are just fine for sleevers. RNY patients are the ones who shouldn't take NSAIDs.
