    QP Protein Packets

The Protein comes from collagen. Neither collagen nor gelatin can be absorbed and used by humans. So these are a waste of money and time. Sorry.

Great info. Can you please post it to this thread too: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/292197-staple-foods-for-the-liquid-phase-phase-1/

You are doing great! Please PM the user "Alex" who is the founder of this site and tell him your old and new usernames so he can merge them. He can probably reset your old password so you can use your old username.

    Loud Stomach

This happens to me just before I have bathroom problems. Those bathroom problems come from bile salts building up in my intestines and sucking water in with them, and will be followed by diarrhea within 5 minutes after the rumbling. I have just started taking medicine to help this so hopefully the rumbling will ease off now.

    Reel me in, sleevers

Lots of bandsters are successful. One of them is Alex Brecher, the founder of BariatricPal. Unless someone is your spouse or child or parent or best friend, you don't really have the right to try to change their mind. The info is there and they are adults who need to make their own decisions. Live your own life and walk your own journey. Best of luck!

    Blegh to water

A squeeze of lemon or lime. Herbal tea. Or just throw a tea bag into a pitcher of cold water and let it sit for an hour for a subtle flavor. Some people find that just a pinch of salt helps. Or try different temperatures (very cold, just out of the tap, slightly warm, hot). A splash of fruit juice.

    Questran post-sleeve

Yep that is one of the ones that is not available in Australia. I took the Questran with 3/4 cup of orange juice and 1/4 cup Water. It was ok. Hides it a little less than the full cup of juice but I saved a few calories. No diarrhea since 3 pm yesterday. I will be out and about today. We will see.
  8. Actually this has been building up. My husband has become the FP again. Yesterday it was "do you need that cookie?" Today it was "wow that looks like a big lunch" (I didn't finish it but this is when I first sat down) and then the big one "I can't believe you already opened those chocolates we were given!" Ok a few things here. First, I log everything. Second, I have not had a stall or any complaint about my rate of loss since being sleeved. Third, I make my own meals and have been quite independent where food is concerned since a year before my sleeve when I was doing medically supervised Optifast. Fourth, and the big one. This was always his "role" in the past. For several years now I have had to assert that I need him not to do this. I grew up with the worst food police ever and never learned any independence about food when I was growing up. I have had to learn it as an adult. I think he is starting to notice and work on his own weight. He just finished couch to 5k. He got me a Fitbit flex and the Aria scale for Christmas. He added himself to the scale and asked me for my old Fitbit one. I know he was either not weighing on the old scale (denial?) or weighing and not telling me about it. I don't bother him or ask him about his weight but I think seeing that my BMI is actually lower than his when he weighed on the new scale might have upset him. I think he sees himself as just a few kg e tea, but in fact his BMI is over 30 now. So I did again ask him not to be the food police (both yesterday teasingly, and today quite seriously). He claimed that I hadn't lost any weight in a month. Actually I have lost 4 kg (8 lb), but I did mention that when I got back from a two week trip to India I was the same as when I left (I dropped a kg quickly the next day or two, because it was swelling from flying, but I didn't update him). I think he still doesn't trust that I won't screw this up. Fair enough, I still have those thoughts too. But my sense of boundaries is a lot stronger now. I don't believe he has the right to act as though I don't look great. If I stop losing now, he should be ok with it. I am in a size 12, I am overweight BMI (almost all the health benefits come from dropping from obese into overweight, statistically), and have lost 35 kg (70 lb). If I had always been this weight I would not accept a man telling me I needed to lose, so he doesn't get to insinuate that either. He gets to be proud of me and trust me. Even if I gain, it is on me and not on him, right? I'm just having a hard time with this. I don't want to get in a fight about it but I want to protect my boundaries and self esteem. And mostly I wanted to vent a little and put it out there for others to react to. What do you think?
  9. Superfatty, I did some experiments today and posted this thread: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/292562-questran-post-sleeve/ I will PM you to be sure you see it since it is off topic for this thread.

    Questran post-sleeve

Oh and if you are lucky enough to be in the US, there are several drugs in this class (bile acid sequestrants) which are available as pills so you can try those first and maybe skip this whole problem. None of the pills are available in Australia. This is a very old medication with very few side effects. One thing to be aware of is that Questran will cause other medications to absorb less well. You need to take other medications one hour before or three hours after taking Questran. This includes Vitamins and birth control pills for instance.
  11. Yeah I think you are misinterpreting the article. It talks about the maximum size of the sleeve and talks about hunger returning but not about weight loss stopping. As long as you use the tool properly you should keep losing. That means eat dense protein and dense veggies, do water loading, and don't drink your calories or rely on soft calories. You can do it!

I'm having a bit of a tough time

GG, you have really given a lot of time to these forums. You have posted recipes and thought-provoking threads and great replies. It must be tough not to be visibly (the scale) successful every week. If you are like me, you want to do this "right". It is part of your identity. But I think we need to realize that as long as we are doing our best, including all our other commitments in life, we are doing great. I think this is also why the percentage of vets who stick around is low. I am a bit of an internet person. I used to spend heaps of time on a trumpet forum (I play). All that trumpet forum is spent on BP now. I miss that other forum but I don't have time for both. Sometimes I do get bored and want to just live my life. But I need this place to keep me aware that I'm a sleever. Not sure what I'm saying but your post resonated with me. To be honest it is good to see that you have down moments too (though I hope they are few and far between)!

    Squash heart burn?

Try again in a few weeks? We all have different tolerances.
  16. I just tried the Musashi High Protein vanilla and I don't mind it. And that is saying something because I usually have a hard time tolerating artificial vanilla flavor. Again I mixed 45 grams with 200 ml water and it is the consistency of milk. Shook it up in a Tupperware cup with a lid and no gross residue either.

    Squash heart burn?

No but it could be a lot of things. Winter or summer squash? Steamed or baked or fried? What else was on it / with it? How much did you have?
  18. We do talk about the phenomenon of regret during the first few weeks post-op, also called "buyer's remorse" quite a lot here. However, pre-ops seem to close their eyes to this kind of discussion, so we have lots of people who post during their first few weeks asking about regrets, and replying to such threads. I wish somehow we could get the message out that this is a normal feeling, and barring complications, usually passes by the end of the first month, when you have mostly healed and food choices are getting more interesting. For those who are new, how could we have phrases this so you would have heard it during your pre-op research? When you were pre-op did you do a search for threads with "regret" in the title? Do you feel like you understood the post-op graduated diet before your surgery? I'm really curious if there is some way to make sure that the right info gets to people before the surgery is they are not surprised afterward by buyer's remorse, the three week stall, etc.

    Water

Both of those drinks are sugar free. That is why they have Zero in the names.
  20. Baked ham (60 grams), steamed broccoli (about 1/3 cup florets and stems), one baby bel cheese shredded

I'm POST OP not Pre op

    Weird! Thanks for the report.
  22. I got the Aria scale for Christmas and I love it! It tracks your weight, BMI, and body fat percentage. It can track several different people and by default doesn't let them see each other's weight. It uploads the numbers to Fitbit online which can sync with MFP. That means I can't play games with the numbers (oh I peed after so I need to take off another half pound) but that I can track trends daily. I also got the Flex for Christmas as an upgrade from the One, which I got just before surgery. I didn't want the Force because I already wear a watch as jewelry. I like the Flex because it doesn't have to clip on, but you can't hide it like you can the One. And the Flex doesn't track altitude (stories climbed). Daily I use MFP and BariatricPal, and I use a fairly cheap food scale that can measure in grams, kilograms, ounces and pounds. My best investments are my tupperware containers because they seal so well for taking lunches to work, making shakes on the go, etc. I tried a lot of other brands before finally laying down the cash. And I have two Zojirushi vacuum flasks, a 12-oz one for coffee and a 16-oz one for Water. They keep things hot or cold for upward of 10 hours. I only drink one cup of coffee a day but it can take me most of the day to drink it and I want it to be hot! The flasks are available on Amazon and are not too expensive. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CHOUI86/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0
