My name is Bertreece. I have struggled with my weigh all of my life. After the birth of my second child, things really took a downward turn. In less than a years time, my daughter was diagnosed with a physical challenge, I filed for a divorced due my husband cheating on me, my mother passed away and my dad moved back to our home town. Needless to say I was an an emotional wreck and found that food was my escape and comfort. I wouldnt take pictures and rarely looked at myself in the mirror. I tried different methods for losing weight only to gain more than I had lost. In 2010, I was rushed to the emergency room and then admitted with my blood pressure extremely high and blood sugars in the 300's. It was then that I was told that I had diabetes and losing the weight was key to reducing its effects. So I tried to eat right and exercise only to highlight that I have sever arthritis in both of my knees and the exercising I was doing was making it worse. With that news and then death of my grandfather, I went down another depressing road in which food seemed to be my only comfort. This year had to be the year of a turn around for me. I couldn't stand walking with a cane being that I am only 42 years old. I knew that every pound I lose takes 3 pounds of pressure off my knees. So I started down the road of losing weigh again but with my work schedule fast food was what was easiest to stay on the move. I finally realized that I needed more help in controlling my intake and saw the lapband as the way to make it happen. My pre-op weight was 265. On the day of surgery my weight was 247. I am looking forward to what it will be on May 11, 2013 as well as who I will be in one year.
