Thanks everyone. I can swallow!! I just get full very fast. And I feel like my meds are getting stuck. Or things are just going down slow and I burp up the taste of whatever I drink. Nothing comes up (TMI) just the taste or smell. I've gotta stay hydrated but its hard. SF Popsicles have been great!! And sip sip sip.

Pre-Op Diet for June 10th Surgery

Art...how are you feeling? -
My Dr instructed me to take Tylenol and Ibuprofen. He said ibuprofen isn't good to take long term. But it's ok in the beginning. No other pain meds so I've been taking them very regularly. Haha! Also, I'm not hungry at all. I'm forcing down Water and a few oz of Protein shakes. After a couple oz I'm full!!! I think I'm fighting head hunger though. Every commercial on tv has food. My husband made dinner for himself and my son and it looked amazing. Good thing I'm not hungry. I know this too shall pass! I'm excited to be on this new path!!

Hello all, Well I'm on day 2. The surgery went very well. The Dr also corrected a hernia that I had no idea i had. I felt pretty good yesterday. The incision where the port is placed is swollen today. My dr said I can ice so that is helping a little. Ice has become my new best friend. I love chewing on ice. The cold feels good on my sore throat and it helps to keep me hydrated. As far as gas pain..both sides of my neck hurt. I'm not sure if that is normal. My upper back hurts but the dr said it would because of the hernia repair. Breathing is a little tough. That is also from the hernia. Im using a spirometer to help with that. I'm pretty sore all over. Legs, arms, neck, back and incisions. liquids are going well. I can't really have more than 3-4oz at a time but I feel very satisfied after that amount. With all this being said I am glad the surgery is over. The pain is manageable and completely worth it to me. Congrats to my fellow June bandsters and good luck to those with dates coming up!! P.S. As for pain medicine I'm alternating taking Tylenol and Advil. I also have an anti nausea patch.

Congrats!!! I'm scheduled for tomorrow @9am. ??? See you on the other side! -
Wow. This just really got real! I just had my last solid food dinner before my surgery on Tuesday. I wasn't required to do a Pre op diet so It is just now hitting home. Tomorrow I can have a "regular breakfast and lunch" then a liquid dinner. I'm really nervous!! Excited too!! I'm ready for this. I'm tired of being overweight. I'm ready to use this tool to change my eating habits for good! Good luck everyone. Looking forward to hearing all your stories.

Good luck Justaprettyface!! You will do great!! Keep us posted as to how your doing!! -
Hello all...well it T-7 days till surgery. 7am June11. Wow!!! I can't believe its already here. My Dr apt went great. The only thing that worries me is that they don't send you home with pain meds. He said over the counter Tylenol/Advil alternated every 3 hours should be sufficient. That along with anti nausea patches and anti nausea liquid. I can always call if I need something. It just worries me. Any advice? Tips?

Justaprettyface I'm in the same boat. Eating bad!! Like its the last time I'll be able to eat all my favorite unhealthy foods. Probably not the best way to go about things. I'm pretty much sick of fast food at this point. I'm ready to make the change and use this tool to help me change my bad eating habits. My Dr doesn't require a Pre op diet but I'm going to start eating less, taking small bites, lots of chewing, no drinking with meals etc. I'm the heaviest I've ever been :-( But it's time!! Time for me to be healthy!! Time for me to enjoy the outdoors and be comfortable in my skin. Keep in touch. I'd love to have a buddy who knows what I'm going through. Again...we CAN do this :-)

I too am scared of failure!! I bet a lot of people on here would say the same thing. Most of us have tried and failed so many times before. We can do it!!! June 11th for me. So excited to begin this journey!!

I just got my Surgery date. Didn't think it would happen so fast. I thought I needed to do the psych eval but my insurance approved without it. Very excited but so nervous at the same time!! I would love to have some buddies on here.
