How exciting! Good luck
-
I help my husband with his tree business, and today we had our first job of the season. I actually look forward to helping. I really love being outdoors, it’s good exercise, and I like to talk to the homeowners. I would like it better though if I could bend over and do all the walking I have to do if I didn’t feel like I was going to die. It’s hard work, and I am just too fat. Blah. Plus, I get really hot. For some reason, I don’t really sweat. My face just gets super red. Yes that’s about as attractive as it sounds. It would be better if I drank more water, but I never know when my next ‘restroom opportunity’ will be. I could use the owner’s bathroom (they always offer) but I don’t feel that’s professional. Although it’s probably more professional than having an accident in their lawn. Ha! It was a really nice drive. See the windmills in the distance in the photo above? I love them. This is a new facility – it ‘pushes’ natural gas and distributes it. It’s really pretty in person. The job was across the street from a State Park. I thought this sign was funny. Not a huge tree. It was about 60′ but was starting to get rotten in the middle. Not good as it’s right next to the road. The machine of death aka my wood chipper. It’s huge and loud and could suck me in and make Mouse confetti out of me in an instant. I give it a LOT of respect, and have nightmares about it. It chops up big trees whole and I make sure I am always on my guard. I track my calories and exercise on My Fitness Pal, and 7 hours hard labor burned a lot of calories. I’m keeping an eye mostly on protein, as that’s what would be important if and when I have lap band surgery. This day was 58 grams and only 910 calories. I was too busy to eat! Share this:

You look great! You must be thrilled! -
A tree that size runs around $500, but we did a total clean up, including sweeping, raking and blowing. When we are done, you'd never know we were there. We didn't grind the stump (that would be extra), just cut it flush to the ground as it wasn't in the lawn. It's hard work and I really want to be in better health so it's easier. You look great! Congrats!

Need Help Please - Choosing a Dr. in Buffalo
AnonyMouse posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Through the search on this site, I have found 3 different groups/doctors in my area. The first is Bariatric/Comprehensive Weight Management through Kaleida Health Care at Buffalo General Hospital, with Dr. Posner and Dr. Hoffman. The second is Synergy Bariatrics with Dr. Caruana, and the third is Buffalo Minimally Invasive Weight Loss Surgical Solutions with Dr. Pham. I would love any and all opinions! Thanks! -
Luckily I am not a big soda drinker. Good for you for having the strength to give it up!

Taking the first step of a journey is both exciting and frightening. Add in the thought of surgery and it takes it to an omg level. But I am that desperate. I have tried just about everything – Weight Watchers more times that I can count, starting when I was just 25. Diet Center. Remember them? Pretty sure Diet Center single-handedly wrecked my metabolism. Appetite suppressants. Alli. Full bars. Slim Fast. Atkins. Every ‘fad’ out there. I did have that brief Golden Age (around 30) when I worked at a fitness center and worked out constantly and could actually keep my weight under control. As long as I ate barely nothing that is. I have been ‘chubby’ for years, but the pounds really packed on when I quit smoking 6 years ago. And I have never been able to get/keep them off. I think I’ve gained an average of 15lbs/year. Ouch. I weighed 105 when I graduated from high school, and 120 when I was 20, and around 125-130 right before I got pregnant with my first baby. I did gain 50 pounds with that pregnancy but was able to get it off by her first birthday. I never really had a problem losing weight after having my children, but I was breastfeeding and super busy and who has time to eat? Unfortunately at 52 that’s not an option now! But don’t think I haven’t considered it. Joking! (Kind of). Anyway, I need to do something. My husband would die if he knew how much I weigh. Pretty sure it’s more than he does, and he’s a foot taller. I have a brand new grandson on the way, and I would like to be able to get on the floor and play with him, AND be able to get back up. I would really like to go off my blood pressure medication, and the Rx I take for the arthritis in my knee. I have so many wonderful things going on in my life right now, and being overweight is like the ultimate buzz kill. I do a LOT of hard physical labor in the summer months, and the thought of having to start that up soon really depresses me. I can barely rake the yard much less do anything strenuous. I get out of breath just going up and down the stairs. It’s time for a change.

New To The Journey and Saying HI!
AnonyMouse posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I have been reading this awesome forum for a week or two. So much information! I am on information overload. I am just in the very beginnings of this journey, and trying to choose a surgeon. Even though there's only a few in my area (Buffalo NY), it's still very confusing. I am so grateful for this site, I've learned so much already!
