July 2013 Sleevers

I'm getting pretty down....only down 14 lbs 3 weeks out. I have 100 LB's to lose total, but based on some folks I watch on Youtube I feel like I'm really below par. Last week the doc told me to STOP working out (walking 60 min/day) and up my calories. I'm having about a 1,000 cal deficit /day now...but still not really dropping anything (only 0.8 lbs this week)... Anyone else in a stall??? How do I jump start it? -

What's everyone doing for vitamins? My NUT wants me to take specific bariatric vitamins like celebrate bariatric, bit they're so expensive! I have to take a calcium and multi... -

Yeah--they said it's only because I have to get in 800-1000 calories, and otherwise I wouldn't be able to bc I'm still on liquid diet until Wednesday...but I just feel like it's hurting more than helping! I have 2 scopes of Syntax nectar Cappuccino flavor with 8oz 2%milk which gives me 54g protein, and then try to have V8 mixed with 21 g of unflavored protein (gives 23g)....so I'm getting in enough protein (goal is 80-100g/day), but technically not enough calories without the boost. What's everyone else's calorie count and how are you getting it in??? Down 11 lbs since surgery -

Did anyone else get told to drink Boost Protein? My NUT wants me to drink 2 a day--to get in all my calories (800-1000/day)...but it's sickening sweet! And the first two ingredients are high fructose corn syrup and SUGAR...each time I drink it I feel horrible and sick afterwards. I've also noticed the days I'm able to choke two down I do NOT lose, and the days I have 1 or none I drop weight. It seems like this is a really bad thing to have, so I was wondering if anyone else was told to drink this, or how everyone was getting all their calories in? I'm supposed to be on liquid only until Wednesday (2 week post-op)... -

Hey Rox--was sleeved on 7/23, and I am a super wuss sometimes. The gas pain was something I was NOT expecting to be so bad! The nurses actually said that quite a few of the older folks think they're having heart attacks because the gas hits you in the chest--not the lower belly as it does pre-op. It actually made it very hard for me to breathe---like I couldn't suck in air because of the pain. They would NOT give me any gas-x for it...they told me all I could have was Milk of Magnesia--said that was gas medicine....well I never had that before....um BEWARE of it....because with the gas (and I had to do a colon cleanse the day before surgery--my doc requires for all) everything was more...liquidy??? So I woke up in the middle of the night with a very unusual feeling and was mortified. The nurses all told me they hate when the doc's tell them to give all the bariatric patients MoM because the same thing happens and they're all embarrassed and upset. I begged for immodium or pepto, but the doc said that it was a good thing to get EVERYTHING out so they wouldn't give me any meds for it. So I would STRONGLY suggest to have your spouse or friend bring you some serious gas-x for the pain, because the hospital/docs might not. Honestly, other than that, it was all super easy--walked without ANY problems a few hours after surgery. I'm already down 8 pounds in the past 5 days! (And I'm 43 BMI...) -
Hi y'all! I'm going to my first info session tonight! Hoping to talk to the Dr. and get a date for consultation. I've already checked with my insurance, and I think everything should be covered (minus co-pays, etc) since I'm over 40 BMI. I was right on the line so I've been not watching what I eat so much and going to wear heavy clothes tonight! Does anyone have any advice for anything I should take along (besides my hubby)? How long did it take you from the info session to surgery? Do you have to do the 6 mo diet? (I've done Atkins, WW, and diet pills--weight ALWAYS comes back--if I even lose in the first place). I have about 100 lbs to lose total. Would love any feedback
