Insurance approved! 10/19 is surg date/would love a buddy!

I have a surgery date of 10/19 too. I'm freaking out a little bit. This liver shrinking diet has me starving! -
Anyone have their surgery paid for by Tricare?
-
Well, my Insurance won't cover the sleeve for me. They will only cover gastric bypass, lapband, or stomach stapling. I am so bummed right now. I go to meet with the surgeon on June 12th to see what is best for me but I do NOT want gastric bypass. Looks like I may have to go with the band. The only way they will pay for the sleeve is if I need a revision after the band. Not cool!

Tricare is military insurance but they just switched to united healthcare

What are your circumstances? If you don't mind me asking

I'm preop but I have to take nexium everyday now for the rest of my life so it wouldn't bother me! I just want to be healthy and stay that way!

Looking for people with similar stats
scmotley posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I was wondering who here had similar stats to mine. I am 31 5'6.5", 257lbs BMI ~44. I just started my journey and have my first NUT appt. May 6. I am an active person and enjoy running outside but have problems with my diet (obviously) so was looking for a permanent solution to help me stay at a healthy weight. I would love to hear about your journey and see pics, especially those that have similar stats to mine. Hopefully by the end of this year, since I have to do 6 months of NUT appts., I will have my surgery and join these success stories! -

So, since we are all similar in beginning size. Does anyone mind talking about extra skin? I was wondering how bad it was and if how fast you lose the weight effects the amount of extra skin -

Wanting to switch procedures after submitting application?
scmotley posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey, everyone. I just submitted my WLS application last week and I put that I wanted the band but now I want the sleeve. Will I have to submit a new application??? Or will I be able to make the final decision on which procedure after I meet with the surgeon?? -

I was just wondering if insurance pays for all of the fills if they pay for the initial surgery. I have Tricare/United Military insurance
-
Thanks everyone. I will talk to my insurance and find out. I don't have a copay normally.

I know nothing, tell me everything!

Hi, I'm new here! I just talked to my dr today for the first time about getting a lapband done. I have went up and down in weight all my life and I'm not talking a little fluctuation, I lost 75 pounds in a year and a half and gained it back in a year and a half. I've done this for the past 14 years. Anyway, my dr put in my consultation for the nutritionist and I will start my 6 months of documented visits in a couple of weeks. I know nothing about what to expect for this surgery so I am asking for any and all information that can help me get prepared. Also, I know people that have had weight loss surgery and they lost so much weight so fast that they looked sick so it scares me. How do you prevent that? Thank you in advance for any information.
