From the posts I have read, I found this site very early in my lap band journey. I have just begun my pre-op testing and diet. I have no surgery date yet, but I am aiming for August 2013. I was referred to this site by the nurse who prepped me for my EGD procedure at Baptist Health Corbin, KY. She was in her final 2 weeks pre-surgery, and she said the site was helping her tremendously. I was mainly looking for recipes, but I found so much more. This is a terrific place!
I have been heavy since I was a teen. I was in marching band, but not very active otherwise. I was, and still am, a bookworm. My other hobbies, scrapbooking and genealogy, are also sedentary activies. After my first child was born, I lost all of my baby weight. However, after my second child 3 years later, I just slowly gained more weight. Add to that the stress of a divorce, relocation, being a single mom, and taking care of my mother, and I now have high blood pressure, sleep apnea, diabetes, and a weight topping out at 340. I work full time at a desk job, and I am exhausted all the time. My knees and hips hurt after 15 minutes of walking, so I am not enthusiastic about exercising.
Needless to say, it is time to do something different. I want to live the rest of my life, not just exist and be a burden on my family. I realize this old dog must learn some new tricks, but I am ready to do whatever it takes to make this work. I want to look at a picture of me and not grimace. I look forward to going on hikes and camping, which my family now has to do without me. I also look forward to starting a new life with my awesome fiance', and being able to take care of him and our home.
