  1. I gave up on all carbonation since being banded! So im not touching beer and soda...even if it turns out it wont harm, why do it, for alcohol i can always drink liqueur and soda...well, nothing there but sugar (if diet...well its still crap) So yeah, beer i miss sometimes, but too bad, i actually drank for the first time the other day, i was never a big drinker anyways, but i know what argon is saying.
  2. mine can be felt, and a bit seen, not through a shirt though. I dont really care too much, it doesnt bother me.

    Eating 4 days post op

This is the kind of post that makes me glad i was on this forum way before i got my surgery done. I read threads on this forum for countless hours, so i saw all this stuff and i knew i couldnt break, and WHY i couldnt break (from not following the diet). I would have added my 2 cents on the original post but all i can say is READ WHAT FAITHMD WROTE!!!

Second Fill - don't feel any different

Yeah, cut to another 24 hours later, now im back. I think it might have been the pork, or maybe swelling, who knows. For a while my body was hating me, even liquids at some point were brutal. But now i had a good supper, nice portion, i'm happy. Im glad i put myself through another day of liquids, and didnt call for a defill..because now i feel good. I will wait to see how this fill treats me. So yeah, i now know not to make a hasty decision on the fill, in a few weeks, i might even realise i need more. But only time will tell. Thanks for your support, comments and suggestions.

    Do i need an unfill?

What a difference ANOTHER 24 hours made...I can get liquids and food down now. I had some sausage and salad. I don't think i'll go for that unfill after all....i'll see over a few weeks how this fill is treating me, in the end i might actually still need a bit more, who knows its too early to tell. Good thing i held back. The self imposed liquids day did some good i guess. Maybe the pork had something to do with it too...either way, thanks for all your comments and suggestions.
  6. I'm 99% sure i need an unfill. I got a fill July 4th and was on liquids for 24 hours. At first i was able to get a bit of food down not too bad. But today has been hell. I had maybe one ounce of pork chop and that was chewed well and i was in hell for an hour. I can't seem to get anything down now, like one to two ounces of food and i'm hiccuping and i am sliming and i am going through hell. I'm guessing this is the delayed effect i heard about. I got the water down at the clinic no problem, but now i feel like i need some fill taken out. Help!
  7. Yeah honeslty, hope you are ok.

    Anyone else out there?

I'm sorry to hear about that, not having gone through this i can't help you but hopefully someone here can help you with that. If not, one thing i could suggest is maybe seing a psychologist, because it's a process and i think seing a professional might help.

    Do i need an unfill?

Yeah, im going to tough it out till monday to see if it untightens. Now liquids don't feel good going down, i REALLY think i need an unfill. Today i probably consumed less than 500 calories...i cant eat! And even drinking is a task.

Second Fill - don't feel any different

cut to 24 hours later...i'm in hell! I think i need an unfill. It hurts and all i'm eating is 1-2 ounces of food.

    Canada or US

i may be forgetting something, but thats what im thinking of right now

    Canada or US

I'd say there's many criteria 1- Doctor (which doctor are you more comfortable with) 2- Aftercare (distance from clinic, price of aftercare...etc) 3- Price (should only be considered if the other two criteria are even

    Sincere question for super sizers

This is what i would've thought although i guess i wasnt SMO at a BMI or 44-45...i would say that what JulieNYC said makes sense. It's like what most of us have been through who hear people say that they fight to lose 10-15 even 20's pounds....to me anyways it's annoying, i'm like -IT'S NOT THE SAME THING!!!!! So i guess in that sense having to lose 130 pounds (me) and having to lose 250+ or whatever pounds is not the same. From what i've seen we share the same issues just to a different degree. And more so than people who are lower on the BMI scale. But either way, losing weight is tough.

    Somebody, please kill me.

glad to help. Hope you find a good price and a good doctor. But really, a good doctor is more important than the price, if they go together then great. Because this is IN you. Whats worth more than your health. Keep us updated, cheers.

Second Fill - don't feel any different

yeah, i feel so much better, like happier because now i feel like i'm back where i need to be. I think that this fill is making a huge difference, my family was having pizza so i had a bit and i cut it up into super small pieces and in the end i probably had less than 1 piece (it was a thin crust home made pizza) I had 2 small square pieces. So anyways, that filled me up...i hope its not like my last fill where this only lasts 2 days.

Second Fill - don't feel any different

yes, hopefully it kicks in. People say it sometimes takes a week or two. Im clear for eating as of 12 minutes ago, although i still havent, but i will soon because im hungry and we'll see how it is. But even fluids are going down different than last time. This time i had a soup and i couldnt finish. I was intending on finishing it, but i just couldn't i guess if it was food that would be true restriction (something i really haven't fully experienced yet). But we'll see how food goes down now. I'll be EXTRA careful chewing, because with my first fill at first i had to watch out like crazy, but towards the end, there was no problem whatsoever eating.

    July 5 2007

Well it has been a while since i have posted in the journal. Here is a summary of what has happened May 4th Surgery: It went well, i recovered pretty fast, within a week i felt near 100%. June 18 First fill: I got a max 5ccs (felt no restriction whatsoever when i got on solids). I gained a few pounds from pre op because being back on solids my body punished me for losing lol. But thats the process. July 4th Second Fill: Yesterday, had a max of 2ccs (felt restriction for only a few days). I gained again 2 pounds. So now i'm hoping i feel restriction, as i havent had any solid food (been on liquids 24 hours as of 8 minutes ago) So now i will go see how the fill is treating me, hopefully i feel some restriction on this one and only need a minimal fill next time. I will be posting on the boards as usual but probably rarely on the journal.

i got the max of 5ccs first fill. I had only felt restriction for maybe 1-2 days. And....had gained 2 pounds. So she gave me a 2cc. So now i have 7cc in a midband. I better not be the freak case that needs 11! ...Either way im on the right path.

    Nervous, second guessing myself

The others have pretty much covered everything but as for the fact that your doctor doesnt provide you with a pre-op diet. Do one yourself! Follow one of another clinic. If you want to, simply ask and within a day i'm sure you'll get the one for TLBC and SWLC in toronto. (basically the short version is tlbc= cottage cheese and sugar free yogurt, swlc=optifast and a small amount of a specific type of vegetables) If your doctor doesnt ask for one doesnt mean its not a good idea. The fact is, it shrinks your liver, the reason they make us do it is to make it easier on them. So don't do it for him but do it for yourself.

Second Fill - don't feel any different

i got the max of 2ccs...so far with only liquids i think i feel a difference. I can't wait for solids to see if im good. I think ill be able to gauge that fully in a week or so.

    new here with some questions.

All lap band in ontario is self pay. If you want surgery in this lifetime for weight loss you need to self pay in ontario. There is an article somewhere on the boards about a guy who died waiting for the RNY procedure. They only do a few, theres a yearS long list. I guess lapband is 'too new' for them to cover it...but even if they did it would be long wait. I believe Yukon and New Brunswick or something is covered (dont quote me on that) But i think one or two provinces cover the band. Not ontario

    Confusion Re: Cost Of Fills

wow...200$...thats Robbery!!! To me its ludicrous. I have free for life aftercare. I mean...16000$ is enough already! But to answer the original question, WE can't answer that, only YOUR clinic can.
