Well I have had a kind of stressful day, but NO sugar was needed!!!! I went tonight and did a customers hair who has ALS, she has been able to come to the shop, but now my gosh the past 2 months!!! I wanted to cry while I was doing her hair. I can't imagine how she must be feeling or her husband and kids. She can't talk, she can't hold her neck up, just to name a few horrible things. She has to be about my age give or take a few years, and I have been doing her hair for probably about 10 or 15 years now, and to see what she used to be, and what has happened to her breaks my heart. while I was cutting her hair there was an accident with her feeding tube and it got all over. She was wet, but couldn't say anything, and I had a cape over her, so you couldn't see anything. She must have been mortified!!! Her husband took care of it, and was great aboutit, but still... I can't get her out of my mind. So if you say prayers, say a special one of the Cook family!! Jane

Well great Cut the Crap Day!!! No sweets for me and I ate a container of yogurt!! I thought the place where the violets were staying didn't have bedrooms?? Just a room with beds, did I dream this?? Or should I say nightmare this? I went to the Dr. today and no fill for me. She wants me to do some weight training. Money is very tight right now so I don't really want to join a gym, any suggestions or websites that might help? When I walked on my treadmill tonight I did use some hand weights and she did suggest that, any others?? I go back in a month, maybe for a fill??? Well have a gopod night everyone and heres to a great Friday!! Jane

Before I go to bed, has anyone read the book "Fighting Weight" by the Ali girl? I haven't quite finished it, but the part about "band breaks" blows my mind. I mean, getting it unfilled for two or so weeks to get a vacation from your band????? They were even talking in the book about having it done before a holiday in the book. All I can say is WOW!!!

Laura, that is okay, just remember tomorrow is 'Cut the Crap' day, so thank goodness you don't bowl on Tuesdays or Thursdays!! I think this is a great idea, thank you so much for thinking of it Terry! I have a Dr.s appointment in the am and don't know if I need a fill or not. I got a little unfill last time and now I feel like I am teetering. We will see what the Dr. says. You know I am so blessed that I have a good Dr. I don't know if it was because I self paid, but that fee I paid included office visits/fills for the first year for sure every month, and I think but not sure, that the following year it includes fills and office visits every two months. Well off to bed, hope I can get a flu shot tomorrow also. Will check in tomorrow night and thanks again TERRY for a great idea on Tues and Thurs. Jane

Terry, that is fantastic halfway there!! Maybe we violets just needed October to pass for us!!! As far as my 15 minutes of fame I think it is more like 10 seconds because I supposedly am sharing the article with a bunch a people who have done different things. Well she called me and did the interview, she was nice, and was basically doing interviews with all different kinds of ways people lost weight. It was really just like talking with a friend about the hardships of trying to lose weight. The bad news is they are coming to my work tomorrow to take my picture. I HATE having my picture taken. I don't know what I am wearing though. It is going to be in the 17th of November issue so will send a link? I hope. Jane

I had something surprising happen today, it was my Dr.s office wondering if I would do an interview for "Ladue News" on my lap band. I said yes. I just came home from lunch and the girl there called me and said today was her deadline and to call her back! I tried but she is probably at lunch now. Should be interesting! At least I know that there will be no picture, although I thought that would solve my problem here of posting a picture! Oh well we will have to see. I missed this place yesterday. I had lunch with a friend and did fine. I had lunch today with a friend and did fine also. I am wearing my bracelet, which really helps remind me!!! I will have to tell the reporter about that. Sounds like our violet bracelets are a must today!!! I am going out to eat with a 'skinny' friend who loves to eat to celebrate her birthday, haven't decided if I want to use one of my sweet days today or not. Have a good day!! Jane

Judy I am so jealous, I am getting ready to get motivated to take a shower and get to work! I really need a vacation, but.... On a positive note I FINALLY GOT THE CALL THAT THE HOSPITAL IS REFUNDING PART OF MY MONEY!!!!! Yeah, they overcharged me and I have been fighting with them to give me the money back since probably June, it all has to do with being a self pay and having a paid insurance surgery at the same time. I am sure that the hospital DOES NOT need that money, and it is not a big amount especially to them, but to me it is the money and the win!!! Terry be thinking about you today, I have heard that young peoples funerals are the worst!!! I have been fortunate never to be involved with one. Well yesterday was a no sweet day, and I kept fingering my bracelet, but I made it!!!! Today is another no sweet day, tommorrow I don't know, but I have allowed myself 4 plus Thanksgiving in November.... Well need to hop in the shower and get to work have a good day!!! Michelle that is too funny dreamin about us, are we skinny? Terry I don't know how your husband can sleep through that either, if my seal is off it wakes me up right away! He must be a very very sound sleeper cause that is loud! I am SURE it kept you up!!!! Jennifer, I want a man like that too, maybe we can find twins that are willing to relocate?? Tracy, I have found that in my weight loss, I lose a bunch, then gain a bit, then stay the same, then lose a bunch. Luckily I lose more than I gain (except last month). So your goal may still come true!!! I hope everybody is getting ready for a great weekend and our November goals are engraved in our (my) brains!!

Well the truth here is I have seen 100 and then gained some over the past few weeks. I have a new goal for November and instead of exercise I am making it a sweets only 4 times this month and Thanksgiving, plus I need to eat more yogurt, maybe 12 this month. Odd goal but one I need to keep!!!! I don't think I can make my signature to include this, too many lines. So here is to a GREAT NOVEMBER FOR ALL THE SHRINKING VIOLETS!!!!!!!!!!!! I was very good yesterday!!! NO SWEETS!!!!!!!! I am allowing myself some today then next months will allow myself only a few days of sweets. Love to see kids dressed up for halloween (as long as it is normal and cute! That was shocking what Pamela said, I guess it is a sign I am getting too old!!) I will be working tonight, but I don't have any kids in my neighborhood anyways, live in a condo and it is usually retired couples/singles or 20somethings, there is not really room for kids. I had my bracelet on yesterday and it fits perfect and it was all the inspiration I needed for a good day!!! I explained it to the girl who does my manicure and she LOVED it!!! Well today is the start of my work week! I am off on Sundays and Mondays so Tuesday the beginning of the week for me. I feel really good and positive today. I hope this feeling lasts a long time!!!! Maybe I will take my camera to work today and have Charlie take my picture and then try to see if I can upload them onto this page. I had my picture done the early part of April, wish I would have had it done August of 06 when I started this. Oh well. Have a great day and Laura here is another gentle nudge in the rear!!! Jane

Pamela, Coming from a hairdresser, I don't understand why you can't wash your hair til Thursday! I tell people who get a perm these days to wait 48 hours til shampooing. You can't take out highlights by washing the hair, the color might fade some, but that would happen whether you have your hair done today or 2 weeks from now. Unless it is special color I have never heard of, you can wash it. I don't mean to sound like a know it all, but unless it is a very special color I don't know of, you can wash it. Laura, Wish I could say that this will go away tomorrow, but in reality it probably won't. I wonder if this is just an adjustment phase we are all going through. I wonder if around 6 months out is a hard time. But, the good news is for me it got better. It is not totally gone, but I look at November as being a GREAT month. I really want to make it a special and spectacular month. I guess in a way if it wasn't for this funk, I may not be as motivated as I am. I did gain a bit this week, but wonder also if that is not from my hernia that I think is rearing its ugly head again. Yes, Tracy they did close down all the Wendys in St. Louis, we still have commercials, but all closed except maybe far away like Rolla.
