what is wrong with me....
stept04 replied to miznikkie08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I read a post a little while ago where someone mentioned that they get tight around that time of the month. I'm not banded yet plus I had a hysterectomy so I can't speak from personal experience. But from what I read it does seem possible. Good luck. -
I have to be on a high protein low carb diet before I go on liquids a week before my surgery. He said not to worry about calories I'm just suppose to eat healthy. I have a problem with portions so I put myself on 1800 calories a day. But I wasn't dropping any weight. So I dropped the calories to 1200 a day. I'm not hungry really just at night a little. I'm drinking my 8 glasses of water a day, and exercising. I noticed though that I don't feel good I have a headache and kind of sick to my stomach not bad just feel like all this is effecting me possibly, is that normal? I have not watched what I eaten in years, not a water drinker and no exercise to think of for 25 yrs. Does going through these changes effect the way you feel I've been doing this for a week? Will it go away? Or should I add the calories back even though I'm not really hungry? Or should I just not worry about it until I get banded. The dietitian says not to worry about calories even after my banding. BTW I think I'm addicted to carbs could this be like withdraws or something? Thanks for any feedback.

Well, we willl be going in for surgery on the same day the 28th of May. I was thinking of getting mine pushed up, but i think it is to late, they are most likely booked up plus I am a little scared anyway. Hope everything goes well with you. I start liquids on the 22nd.

LOL, no I was talking about ground hamburger.

Yea, I have just started adding water into my diet, 2 liters a day. I keep a bottle that hold 8 glasses of water in it by my side all day, but I find that it makes me feel full and bloated and almost nauseated. I guess it is just a matter of getting use to it. I can down decaffeinated tea with sweetener with no problem, but I'm trying to get use to drinking actual water because it seems like any little thing gets in the way of me losing, as in the sweeteners. Such a bummer.

Yea, I thought so too. But it seems that the insurance has certain criteria and then the Dr.'s have their criteria. I'm sure it will all work out for you. Mine surprisingly went pretty smooth considering the insurance I have which is is ChampVA it's a government type of insurance my husband is disabled from the Marine Corps he got it through the VA. So, if I got approved and did not have to jump through to many hoops, you know how the government is. I think you will be alright.

I believe if your BMI is over 40 you don't need to have any health conditions related to your weight, if your BMI is 30 or over you have to have some health conditions related to your weight. That was how it was for my Dr. and insurance. It could be different with different insurances. Now if you pay out of pocket I guess it would just be up to the Dr. , and I think it is a BMI of 30. Like I said that was in my case. There are some well informed people on this site that I'm sure can give you more detailed information, I'm sure they will answer this post. I would have thought your insurance would have given you all the details, if not the seminar should be informative about how insurances work, they may even be familiar with yours personally if they have already worked with it. Good luck

I'm sitting here in my house going crazy. I woke up this morning at 4:30, and could not go back to sleep. I've been going crazy over the past week. I've got about 3 weeks before my surgery and I am so anxious. I mean really anxious. I am obsessed with this website I've read everything on here. I post whenever I have a question, just so I can communicate and interact with people going through what I'm going through. I keep trying to find new people to talk to. I don't have anyone around that I know personally that has or is going through this. I'm so obsessed with getting my lap-band that it can't come fast enough. Luckily I have meet some people through this site that I talk to, but it doesn't seem to be enough. What's going on with me? Has anyone else been this obsessed with getting the band? I know my husband Is getting tired of hearing me talk about what I've done, what I need to do,what he needs to do, what I should not do etc., you get the picture. But he is being a real trouper. I don't really have any questions to post about so I decided to post this blog and hopefully get some of this energy out. Get this, I hate writing, but that is how bored I am. I know I'll get through this, but I'm driving everyone else, along with myself crazy in the meantime. Maybe I should go for a walk after this, I really hate walking too, but I have to start sometime. Anyone else going crazy waiting? Along with all this I'm also on a high protein low carb diet and staying at about 1200 calories, which seems to be adding to this anxious bored feeling, I don't know why, maybe because I can't eat and don't know what to do with my time and energy. Writing that just mad me think, that might be it I just finished finals too. I think I eat when I get bored and I don't have anything as of yet to take it's place. Not even banded yet and having issues,Oh boy. It is a weird feeling it is a lost feeling. Can anyone relate? Funny, this has been therapeutic, I never would have thought. I have heard journaling(sp?) is helpful but did not believe it. Learn something new everyday. Well that's about it just needed to vent some. Good luck to everyone with your journey.

Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!

Thanks for sharing. I just bought it off e-bay for 10.99, not bad. I have not been banded yet that happens May 28th so I am going to keep this book around and try it when I hit a plateau. Really grateful you posted about it. -
Just wanted to say good luck to you both.

It seems from reading the forum and from what my Dr. says, 50 pounds is about the expected weight loss with the band. I need to loose 125 to not be obese. I have read a lot of post in here though where people have lost a lot more than that. I'm trying to understand how this works. Does it just depend on the person, or does it depend on how you work with the band? Do you reach a certain amount and just stop period, or do you drop so much and then have to really work to get the rest off? I' m not trying to say you don't have to do the work from the beginning, I'm just saying does a certain amount come off easier and then if you need to lose more it will take a great deal more effort. I'm all in either way, I was just concerned if there is a % you lose, like 50 pounds and that is it for some people. Thanks for any replies. I'm getting banded the 28th of May.

stept04 replied to Brieshay's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Allie, Do you find that sugar-free sweeteners get in the way of weight loss? I always drink decaffeinated tea with splenda in it, I was wondering if that good hinder my weight loss being that you mentioned it above. Thanks -
Wow, that's such an inspirational story. Good job to you.

stept04 replied to audreycat123's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can not seem to find them. But I have not tried hard. Do you have a "The Vitamin Shoppe". I know they carry muscle milk they might be able to order the lite if they don't have it. They could have it somewhere on the internet also. Good luck -
Sugery May 24th & second guessing myself
stept04 replied to URSULAQ1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OooooH Yea. I've been on an emotional roller coaster with this surgery decision. I started second guessing myself even posted about it, and read other post about it, it seems to be normal for a lot of people. It seems that anyone who had second thoughts about it and went through with it did not regret having the surgery. They all loved there band. So I think you'll find out that it is normal. As for me I'm back on track will see what tomorrow brings. Basically unless something big gets in the way I'll be going through with it regardless of my mixed emotions. You have to make the best decision for you though. Hopefully it is just nerves. I wish you well. -
I've read drinking something hot like tea of coffee seems to work for a lot of people. It helps to loosen everything up before you eat.

Well I called and Texas does provide that service, but you have to jump through hoops for a year. You have to be severely obese and working with your Dr. trying to lose weight and some other things. Sounds like some of the same criteria for some insurances. It won't be something I can do. But I thought I'd post about for anyone from Texas reading this. Hopefully it might help someone. So great post.

Thanks for sharing. I live in Texas but I'm sure going to look into it, I guess it would be called Texas Rehabilitation Services (I'm hoping). I have Champ VA and have to meet my deductible which I believe was 3,000.00 or around there. I was lucky to have meet about have of it already this year so I only have to finance 1,500.00. I also still have to pay for fills at a co-pay of 20% which comes out to 85.00 a fill. But next year it all starts all over and the fills will be over 400. I guess it it so expensive because he uses a fluoroscope every time, and I won't be able to avoid that, depending on how many times I need it. I have not been banded yet that happens May 28th. So I'll be sure to look into it. Again thanks
