Maybe you could make something at home and have them over to your house or go out for a picnic, a woman loves a man that can cook or vice versa. Or maybe you can do something that does not involve dinner until they get to know you better. Just a thought. Good luck. -
My PCP did not have to get involved at all not even for a referral. So I don't know if it depends on your insurance coverage.

Sounds like you need to call the Dr., and check this out with them. It does not sound good. Good luck. -
Big time constipation 3 weeks post surgery
stept04 replied to TomD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If it is really just not moving try Magnesium Citrate. It comes in a liquid form, they have a flavored and a non-flavored which I think you can mix with something like juice. You can take a little or a lot depending on your needs. Good luck -
I have been walking 6 days a week, Monday will be two weeks. I had planed on adding another block ( I walk one block now) after two weeks. My husband walks with me and thought that was a pretty good time frame, but when I'm walking about half way through my legs, the front of my chins(sp?) and around my ankles just start hurting, and was worse today. It is a burning feeling I think it is muscular. Is it the weight? Should I just push through it or should I wait to add the other block when it quits hurting? I weigh 273 and 5'3 I am not losing yet I have not been banded (May 28th) is the weight to much on my ankles for what I'm doing? I could do more otherwise. Thank you for any input. ---Stephanie

I was just curious for people over 40 if the weight lose was significantly slower than younger people with the band? Or does it just seem to be different for everybody? I'm just wondering how my age (47) will play into the weight loss. I want my expectation to be within normal range so I don't get discouraged. I need an idea of what to expect. I've read 1 to 2 pounds a week, but I thought it might be slower the older you are because of metabolism slowing down with age. What did you all experience. Thanks

Congratulation! Best of luck! Do you mind if I ask what gravol is? I've never heard of it. Does it work good? I'm asking because I get banded on the 28th of May. Just want to be well prepared. -
Hi Khris just wanted to say hey to someone in my neck of the woods. I'm Northwest of Fort Worth in Haslet. I get banded on the 28th of May. Just wanted to wish you the best.

199.6lbs! I forgot how this number looked.
stept04 replied to Miki71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations. I know I can't wait to see the number 1 again instead of 2, it has been 20 years for me. Keep up the good work. -
If you don't mind me asking, what in general is the book about? I have not heard of it. I was thinking of getting it if it was any good. I guess I could look it up just being lazy I guess plus curious of your opinion. Thanks

Neat little chart to keep around, maybe like on the refrigerator. Thanks for sharing

I'm nervous and scared too, but I'm also excited. Coming across threads that discuss peoples "horror stories" is unnerving, but it is educational. I want to make sure I know both the positive and negative that can come from this surgery, so I can make a well informed decision. With that said, it is still scary, but I think that's normal. My excitement outweighs my fear, so my husband said that was a good way to tell I should go ahead and go through with it, so I am. Hopefully your is just nerves and you'll be able to go through with it, but you should never ignore your real concerns. Good luck.

So sorry to hear you have so much going on. I don't have any words of wisdom, just hang in there and I'll say a prayer for you. Good luck hun.

It's official I'm addicted to yogurt and granola ( a certain brand ). I'm not banded yet but I've been on a high protein low carb diet. I've been measuring it out so I could allot for it in my caloric intake, but tonight before I could stop myself I so binged on it. I don't think I will be able to incorporate it into by diet with the band. I've tried changing brands but I just won't it at all. Do you think I have to give it up all together? Has anyone had or have a food that they are addicted to and what have you done about it? Thanks for any advice.

Several years back I was doing Adkins, and drinking a lot of Starbucks, and was not drinking much of anything as far as for hydration. Sure enough I developed a problem with kidney stones. So I think it would be a good idea to find out from your Dr. if they are from to much protein and/or dehydration. There are some disorders that can cause persistent passing of stones too. Your Dr.'s the only one that can really answer why your getting them so much. Good luck

Yogurt is good in the morning you can add some blueberries or any soft fruit if you have to eat soft food. When you can do regular food you can try adding granola, if you let it sit for a few minutes it softens up too.

New pre-surgery and having a hard time with practice diet
stept04 replied to Robin618's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Practice is just that, practice. You keep doing something till you've done it enough it become second nature. You usually don't get it right the first time, and you won't get it right all the time, but you keep trying. If they are having you do a "practice diet" it sounds to me like they just want you to have ahead start when it comes time to actually have to do it. Eating smaller portions, chew, chew, chew, not drinking while you eating, etc. So if your not getting it right at first that's to be expected but you'll be much better off by the time it gets here. Maybe less or no stuck episodes or maybe not struggling with eating right, stuff like that, does that make sense? Anyway just a thought good luck and you'll get it just don't give up. -

If your still having problem you might want to try magnesium citrate. When all else fails that's what I use. You might want to ask your Dr. first though. It's liquid and comes in flavored or non-flavored you can mix with something if I remember correctly. You can also take a little or a lot depending on your needs. Good luck -
You go girl. Good luck!
