Can somebody tell me is feeling full with the band feels the same as before you was banded
stept04 replied to newlife1977's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
l agree with what they have to say I'd just add that I don't feel full like I did before the band I feel a sense of being satisfied that I never had before I was banded. It just recently happened with my 3rd fill. I had been struggling to understand and then boom it happened. It is a wonderful feeling. Good luck ~~~Stephanie -
Congratulations , it is nice to hear that you lost all that weight I've been concerned about my age and metabolism so every time I see were us older ones have lost weight I get more motivated and hopeful. So thanks for sharing ~~~Stephanie

Am I hungry or is my mind hungry or am I satisified ?
stept04 replied to Alohashelli's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me when I got my third fill (I'm at 7.8 cc's) I all of a sudden had no problem telling that I was not hungry, I have more of a problem with knowing I should eat.. I had been struggling through trying to tell the difference, but since this last fill there is no mistaken it. So that could happen for you. Right now I'd do what Suebee01 suggest. When you get the right fill you'll probably know better. ~~~Stephanie -
I have a Realize band that is 10 cc's and I know my Dr. also uses the Realize band that is 15 cc's. ~~~Stephanie

1st fill--different
stept04 replied to Blayden2029's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get my fills with fluoroscope, but they still start out slow with like 2.5 cc's and then I go once a month till they said maybe the 3rd or 4th fill and then they'll tweak it after that. I really like the fluoroscope, but I just got my 3rd fill and I'm on liquids so I don't know if I am in the green zone yet. I kind of like the way yours was done. I think sometimes they take longer to get more money. I don't know that for sure just something in the back of my mind. ~~~Stephanie -
I don't know about the Provent, but I do know that whether or not it works would depend on what is causing your sleep apnea. Do you know whether you have obstructive sleep apnea or central sleep apnea? Central sleep apnea is caused by something in the brain that forgets to tell you to breath, obstructive sleep apnea is caused by some sort of blockage some where in the air way, If you have obstructive sleep apnea it may help. Also weight loss can help with that kind of sleep apnea, a lot of people lose weight and cure their sleep apnea, but sometimes it may take surgery if your not interested in the c-pap machine, Good luck ~~~Stephanie

Need some advice, please no negeativity!
stept04 replied to betchaican's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was just wondering if anyone giving you advice has been through what your going through? Has anyone of them been over weight and lost it and kept it off for a significant amount of time? If not I don't think they have any idea what it is like to try and lose weight especially if you have a lot to lose. So when it come to their opinion on weight loss and taking the easy way out they don't have much to stand on. As far as the surgery that is up to you and no one can make that decision for you. Not even your husband or someone on here. You have to do what you feel is right for you. Just to let you know I had a lot of fears about having the surgery, but it was my last chance at trying to lose this weight, so I went through with it. It is normal to have fears and second thoughts. Just follow your heart. Good luck ~~~Stephanie -
I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I was thinking maybe you could find someone that would allow you to make payment arrangements. Good luck, and hope you are able to find a solution. ~~~Stephanie

Taking vitamins first couple weeks post op
stept04 replied to Red bird's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to wait about 5 days after surgery before taking any Vitamins and then to also cut them in half or crush. You may want to ask the Dr. or nut. ~~~Stephanie -
My doc says not to eat 2 hours before. But it sounds from the post it may not matter. I'll still go with what my doc says though. Good luck with your choice. ~~~Stephanie

I think I knew it was only going to be for a certain amount of time and not forever so I did not really miss anything. I was really so excited about being so close to being banded and I knew I was going to be able to have those foods eventually. But I do have to admit I have a yogurt and granola fetish and I did miss not having that for the next month. I did have one incident on post-op too. My husband brought home Chinese with my consent and I broke down and took a bite when I was on liquids. I felt so bad . ~~~Stephanie

I was surprised the pre-op diet ended up being easier than I had imagined. I was able to have 3 to 4 Meal Replacement shakes, 1 Protein bar and all the Clear Liquids I could handle. I did learn some about my relationship with food (still am), but I couldn't believe how well I did even my husband was surprised. I found that as long as I had something in my mouth I was ok. So maybe I never got pass the sucking thumb phase , but it is true I have to be chewing or drinking something so I've replaced the food I use to use with crystal light and gum. It has been working so far. Sounds like you have a good handle on things you should do great. Good luck. And by the way I was all over the place a lot before my surgery. ~~~Stephanie

Can the Liver Shrinking Pre-op Diet cause Pain?
stept04 replied to bsellis's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The pain sounds a lot like it did for my kidney stones. You ought to call you PCM for this one. I don't mean to scare you just telling you what happened to me. Good luck. It did not have anything to do with the pre-op diet for me. ~~~Stephanie -
LADIES ONLY PLEASE!!!
stept04 replied to PrettyThick1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with mrsinto.and as a side note a friend of mine had her TOM cramps get better after she was banded so there seems to be a connection I've heard other people post about having worse cramps too. I don't have one anymore so I can't speak from experience. But definitely check with your Doc to be sure everything is Kosher. ~~~Stephanie -
I have been so lazy I was hoping to be able to lose some weight without exercising and I did 18 pounds that is it my body won't respond any more I only eat 1200 calories a day but it still won't let me loose I guess without exercising. Boy am I lazy I so was hoping for say 50 pounds and then exercise, not. So I started the other day walking 15 min twice a day. I think part of me is afraid to find out that won't work either, but I'm giving myself a week or two to see if I respond to it at all. I'm almost 50 and I'm afraid my metabolism is shot, but I've heard of others around my age losing so I am hopeful still. On the fence though on being very mad about this whole thing with being banded and whether or not this is going to work, I've put a lot of money into this. I don't know if finding my green zone will make a difference, does it. How does that work? Won't I still be eating the same amount of calories? Or should I be eating less? I think I am just tired of concentrating on staying at 1200 calories which is not a lot of food. And I have not been losing so I'm tired. But I have not been doing what I am suppose to do either. So I have to start. So I'm venting I think. Thanks for listening. ~~~Stephanie

Why does it hurt to eat in the mornings?
stept04 replied to goal_will_be_met's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have read a lot of post about people being tighter in the morning I don't know so much about hurting, but I do know it is not uncommon to be tight in the morning. Most people will drink something hot first thing in the morning to help loosen up and also maybe not eat till later in the day. You could try that, but you also may want to talk to your Dr. about the pain I don't think that is normal. You may be a wee to tight. ~~~Stephanie -
I use Bariactric Advantage they meet all the requirements for a banded patient( they have them for banded,by-pass.and sleeve). They are not a bad price for amount you get and how long they last. You can find them at BariactricAdvantage.com. ~~~Stephanie

I too went through a little depression after I was banded, never did figure out what it was but when I posted about it on here it turned out I was not the only one who had went through it. I think I remember some body mentioning it could even have something to do with the anesthesia. It can have all kinds of after effects. So hang in there you'll probably figure it out or it will go away on it's own. Of course they say if it last more than a couple of weeks you should seek medical attention. Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine. ~~~Stephanie

Everything will be ok. Good luck and soon you'll be banders. ~~~Stephanie

Pre-op diet and exercise?
stept04 replied to videonasty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You would want to ask your doctor to be sure what is best for you. For me my doc said walking was fine for six weeks and then I could start more intense exercise after that. Good luck. ~~~Stephanie
