Losing weight before sugery
stept04 replied to ready4myboys's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr. did not require any weight loss which was a good thing because I gained weight. What can I say I had a 6 mth wait and no restriction, I just ate normal till the High Protein low carb diet I read about in the paper work they gave me, that they never mentioned anything about. So I got started late I loss 4 pounds But I had gained 30. But now I have the band to help me. So will see. Stephanie -
I could not hardly get anything down the day of the surgery, but I did the next day. But like I was saying it was uncomfortable. If your protein drinks are a clear fluid, like mine I mix with a cup of water and they are like a juice. I think it counts as a fluid. If they are straight up milky I don't know. Seems to me if you add any water that water would count. ~~~Stephanie
-
I looked it up, sorry I can be a little slow sometimes. Sounds like a good food plan and it makes sense too. ~~~Stephanie
-
Do you mind if I ask what it is? A type of diet? Have not heard of it. I guess I could look it up uh. I won't be eating for almost another 4 weeks anyway. ~~~Stephanie
-
Yea I had my surgery Tuesday and I feel the exact same way, when I drink I feel like a blow fish.is in my upper stomach. Was even wondering if I could stretch my pouch, but everybody is saying they felt the same. I guess it is like you said gas and Fluid. It is very uncomfortable. It was hard to get all my Protein in but I finally am, 80 mg, Protein drinks of course. Good luck with your recovery. ~~~Stephanie

My Dr. said as you lose weight your stomach shrinks so your band won't be as tight anymore, and you may need other fills as you lose. And then I have heard there are just times when we are tighter or loser. ~~~Stephanie
-
I'm doing OK except for getting up and down. And I feel so full and bloated when I drink anything. How about you? I'm worried I'll stretch my pouch, can you do that on liquids? ~~~Stephanie

1st thing to eat post op
stept04 replied to GingerAnn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are so lucky you get to have full liquids on day 2 out of surgery. I have to wait a week. The first thing I'm gonna try I think will be a cream Soup then maybe yogurt if i can handle the soup good. That's if I can have yogurt on full liquids I have to check my list. Unlike revdrkatie I don't have to get out and do anything big till Monday. I had my surgery the same as you and her. I'm wondering if you can stretch your pouch on liquids because I feel so full and bloated when I drink anything. How about you? Good luck with your recovery. ~~~Stephanie -
That was to cool. And congrats on your weight loss. ~~~Stephanie
-
Are you on full liquids or mushies. I'm just curious because I start full liquids on Tuesday and wondered what it might consist of besides shakes and cream soups. Sorry your having a hard time, I can relate though. ~~~Stephanie.

You will be OK Stephanie. I on day 3 from my surgery and it has gotten a little better so yours should too. Luckily my babies are only 10 pounds, but I still don't let them jump in my lap, I'm afraid they'll hit my stomach. But yes getting up and down is the worse especially getting up and down from the toilet. Good luck girl Stephanie

I can so relate. I lost a lot of weight one time and out of no where went to cross my legs and they crossed. It was a glorious feeling, but course I gained that weight back plus some. I'm looking forward to that not happening this time. Congratulations girl! ~~~Stephanie

Congrats on your surgery. I just had mine 2 days ago, I did not stay over night. Good luck with your journey. Maybe you'll get lucky and not have the gas pains, mine as not been real bad, thankfully ~~~Stephanie.

Where Are You in Your Weight Loss Journey?
stept04 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Just starting, had my surgery 2 days ago. Love this site it helped me out a lot while I was waiting to get banded. I've lost a total of 9 pounds to start and the rest will be history. I intend on using this site to give me the support, encouragement, and tough love I will need from time to time. Thanks Alex ~~~Stephanie -
I have some Hibiscus flowers on my upper back between my shoulder blades. I got it when we were stationed in Hawaii. It was my first one, I think I was 38 when I got it. I want some peacock feathers but I don't know were to put them. Any ideas? Or maybe some thing to symbolize my weight loss when it happens ~~~Stephanie

I wonder if there is something hitting the diaphragm? I read some where in my research that the diaphragm does not feel the pain it radiates the pain to the left shoulder. Just thought I'd mention it. I don't know that it would help at all. Just thought it might be information to have. Sorry your having problems. Hope you get better soon. ~~~Stephanie

I started drinking my Water today(I had surgery yesterday) and it seems to be making more gas and gas pains, every time I take a drink I get a real big full feeling then gurgling then gas and pains. Are my sips to big? Or is this just normal? Is it helping relieve the gas? Can this just be a coincidence? ~~~Stephanie

when can I get back to work
stept04 replied to peteypete's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel real bloated too. It's all I can do to get down my 4 Protein drinks and some broth, it might be 40 oz. Other than that I'm doing OK, not in to much pain mostly sore. Hurts most at the port site. Hope you'll do OK with your recovery. Stephanie -
If you don't want to waste the pills is it OK to cut them up into smaller pieces? I bought a liquid form and it taste awful, but I'm sucking it up because I don't want to waste it. LOL They cost a lot. But they are baaaad, so be careful what you buy, get samples if you can. Bariactric Advantage.com has sample packs you can buy I believe. ~~~Stephanie

You guys are going to be upset with me but lesson learned.

I just had my surgery yesterday. Will be sure to take it easy after reading your blog. But it does seem a little strange your incision would leak after 4 weeks. Keep an eye on that like Scorpio said. ~~~Stephanie -
Oh....Hello appetite....Now go AWAY!!
stept04 replied to WheelCrazy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How much Protein is in you Protein Shakes? Mine has 23 grams per 8 oz, so I can have 4 glasses a day and get my protein in. It is the only thing that gets me through the day and I'm not weak or tired. I'm on liquids only right now. Still have head cravings for food though, but not bad. I've got that stupid shoulder pain also. How long have you had yours? I hope mine goes away soon. Good luck ~~~Stephanie -
Well the surgery went well. I'm at home now, I've been sleeping for an hour and then walking around and then I lay back down for an hour and so on . I had a small hernia that needed repairing, so my doc fixed that. So I guess I'm a little bit more sore than I would have been without the repair. I have pain in my left shoulder which I was prepared for and of course some gas. It did not seem to effect my appetite, I'm hungry, but all I can have is liquids, I do seem to get full faster even on the liquids. The pain does not seem to be to severe so that is good. I am tired though. So I just wanted to touch base with you all. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask. I'm going to go for now. Thanks for being there you all. ~~~Stephanie

Welcome and congratulations, I had a similar situation with insurance, but it took me 9 yrs to get my surgery,so I know how you must have felt. I just had my surgery yesterday, it went smoothly, and so will yours. Good luck ~~~Stephanie

Yes mam, I am taking the stool softeners like you mentioned and I am still sipping on my Water and I added the Popsicle, Thanks for caring. ~~~Stephanie.
