There is a thing here in Texas called Texas Rehabilitation Services, they will cover the surgery if you meet certain requirements, to help you get a job to support yourself if your weight hinders you from getting one. It's not easy but if you have no other option it could be something to look into, I don't know your personal situation and I don't know the requirements. But it should be listed under California Rehabilitation Services if your state has it. Good luck, I hope you find a way to have the surgery. ~~~Stephanie

There is not as much restriction as I had hoped, but i guess the fills will take care of that. I get my first fill on the 19th of June. He uses Fluoroscope so I hope I can get a good fill to give me some restriction. ~~~Stephanie -
Post Lap Band Surgery Diet and Nutrition

Did your Dr. give you information on when and what to have? Because every Dr. is different in their requirements. Like mine wanted me on Clear Liquids for the first week and then full liquids the second week , mushies 3rd and 4th week and regular foods the 5th week. You will find everybody is different. As far as 4 weeks on liquids I know mis73 was on liquids for 4 weeks. It' not easy that's for sure. ~~~Stephanie -

Did you get a fill at your surgery, or do you have to wait so many weeks? You sound tighter than I am. I have a 10 cc band with no Fluid, you? ~~~Stephanie -
She may not respond to you unless she chose to follow this topic. If you want someone to know you are responding to them personally then you can click on the quote button of their reply and they will get the message that you quoted them, and then they will know. Don't take this personally I just did not know if you knew since you are new. Or you can PM somebody personally. Sorry if you already knew this. ~~~Stephanie

After getting Lapband can any of you briefly describe what you eat in a day??
stept04 replied to betchaican's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I'm on the 2nd week of post-op almost 3rd, which is a full liquid diet, and I have no Fluid in my band yet. For Breakfast I have a cup of oatmeal or cream of wheat then for my snack I'll have my Protein shake, lunch maybe a half a cup of yogurt and a half a cup of sf pudding then my Protein Shake for snack, dinner some cream of something Soup about a cup, then my protein shake before bed. I forgot I have a protein shake before breakfast. I have to fit in 4 Protein shakes to get in all my protein for the day. I'm up real early, so I can fit it all in. ~~~Stephanie -
Did u ever feel this way befor surgery or am i just crazy?
stept04 replied to betchaican's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As far as buying clothes I was the same way, I refused to buy anything new until I need some clothes after I lose some weight. Even then I may chose to buy my clothes at a second hand store or a cheap store until I get to my goal. I did have a "last supper" but for the most part I watched what I ate, I did not want to struggle with even more weight to lose or my clothes being to tight. Your actions are normal don't worry. ~~~Stephanie. -
I think I have split personalities, I'm not quite two weeks out, but one part of me expects that I should be 50 pounds lighter or something. While the other side knows better. On one hand I am already rethinking my decision, while on the other hand I am happy it has finally came. I am fighting with myself that I have only just begun this journey, and it has not even been 2 weeks. So, I am going back and forth with this junk in my head. I know I need time to heal and then time to get the right fill possibly, but the other side of me is like I'm not eating so I should be dropping weight right?. My husband says my face looks thinner even though the scales not moved. I think a part of me unconsciously expected to much, I think i secretly thought I'd wake up from surgery and be thinner and drop weight as I walked., a pound a day type thing. Consciously and reasonably I know that is not realistic by any means, but i still struggle with that other "personality" in me. I'm still fighting with that part of me that has helped keep me big all this time and has helped me fail in every aspect of losing this extra person I carry around. Maybe that's it, It is like a second person I carry around one that does not want to be pushed away or put aside. But I'm so done with that relationship. I want the thin me to be the only one I carry around. So, to do that I'm going to have to win this fight between my two egos and literally beat the fat out of the fat person in me. So with the help of this group, my Doc's team of professionals, and the thin person in me I will prevail. I have to do this, I have to be successful this time it's the bottom of the ninth with 2 outs, and I up to bat with 2 strikes and 3 balls and this girls not walking or striking out it is a hit I'm going for so I'm going to swing and with help of my new bat (band) I will hit a home run. ~~~Stephanie

Syntrax Nectar has one I tried that is called fuzzy navel it taste like orange juice kind of. You can find it at BariactricAdvantage.com. Mixes real well, it is not powdery tasting either. ~~~Stephanie
-
You can put them in either. But I think they are better dissolved in the least amount possible so to get in down faster or in one bite because of the taste they are usually awful. It's better if you can get chewables, gummies, or liquid. I got mine from The Vitamin Shoppe. You can find some chewables at BariactricAdvantage.com also. ~~~Stephanie

Good luck, and keep us up to date on your progress. ~~~Stephanie -
I would just say to have all your stuff ready for when you come home. Did they give you a list? Things like Protein drinks, Popsicle,Chap-stick, pain meds, broth, crystal light, Gatorade G-2, comfy clothes for after surgery, and a pillow for the ride home to hold your stomach. The pillow also helps when you are getting up and down from the sitting position. If you have a Sonic there ice is great if you have nausea and can't handle anything else. Oh and I forgot about gas-x and something for nausea. Good luck ~~~Stephanie.

skin glue over stitches?
stept04 replied to txgal1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Doc said if it was irritating to the skin it could be taken of with fingernail polish remover. But that's my Doc I don't know about yours. I think it does ware off after awhile. ~~~Stephanie -
I don't mean to scare you but the color of your urine does not sound good. Can you call your surgeon? Do they have an after hours number? It could be nothing, but if you still have it i would check to be sure. It's the pinkish color that worry's me. ~~~Stephanie

I'm confused about nutrition and what my nutritionist said?
stept04 replied to donna12's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a chart for Protein amounts based on height. I have to hit 79 grams based on my height of 5'3". If you want I can post yours. Also I was told by my hairdresser who has a customer who is a dietitian that eating complex carbs is what will help keep your hair from falling out. I don't have a clue but if nothing else is working maybe you could just make sure your getting enough and see what happens. Now my Doc says 75 grams of protein and Nioxin shampoo. I was told by my hairdresser that Biotin only helps the hair you have grow it does not grow hair itself. Just some thoughts. Good luck ~~~Stephanie -
And so my journey begins....
stept04 replied to sweets27's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi just wanted to welcome you here. I just had my surgery two weeks ago Tuesday, so I don't really have any advice except to take it a day at a time and follow you Dr. and nutritionist directions and you'll do great. See ya 'round. ~~~Stephanie -
Thanks for that, I can use all the positive feedback I can get to fight this. ~~~Stephanie

It could be just a bout of gas that's causing it. Also if for some reason something hurts the diaphragm it can radiate pain to the left shoulder. I've never heard of constipation causing something like that, but I'm no specialist either. Good luck ~~~Stephanie

Liquid diet Constipation
stept04 replied to BigOBoy123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took me about a week on liquids to have a BM. I did not get diarrhea but it was soft. If you think your going to stay constipated and it hurts, a lot of people on here recommend Miralax, it is a stool softener/laxative. But as with anything medical call your Doc first. ~~~Stephanie -
I used an ice pack for the first week on my sore incisions. I still am having some sharp pains in my side, and I am almost 2 weeks out. But it has gotten a lot better than it was. It will for you too. If it's not gas it could be constipation? As long as it keeps getting better you should be fine if it does not or if it gets worse maybe you should call your Doc. Good luck ~~~Stephanie
