Interested in doing a weekly call-in for supporting each other?
katspaw posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wanted to see if there was any interest for me hosting a weekly dial-in phone number where we could all talk and discuss our Success, Struggles and support each other through his weight loss journey. Let me know if you are interested and I will set something up because I personally need 300% support/help fighting my demons to learn how to be successful in weight loss. -
I feel like its time to share again!

Port flipped no longer can get fills - sad day......
katspaw replied to katspaw's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you everyone. I was so down yesterday that he didn't give me options. Just said that obviously the band isn't working for me so I should do the sleeve and then started his staff on getting me info about sleeve and left. So he has never had good bedside manner but I ignored it because his surgical abilities were rated so high. But now I don't care how good he is listed as a surgeon because he just sucks! I will be looking for another surgeon to go to, to say the least! I just didn't that on top of all the other crap I have dealt with. -
Port flipped no longer can get fills - sad day......
katspaw posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I went in to get a fill today and found out my port has completely flipped and I can't get a fill anymore. I am so frustrated right now. I just cried at the office. The doctor said it just means I am not meant for the band after all these years and I should do the sleeve instead because it has a higher success rate than the band. Didn't even offer me options to get the port slipped back. This happened to anyone else?? I am just at a lost.... -
Trying to get a idea on how people are controlling their eating. Do you count calorie's or just watch what you eat? I am unfortunately not one of the people who can adhere by the just "eat lean protein and veggies and eat as much as you want" as my doctor said. So I am open to how you guys have tracked your food consumptions hoping I can get some good suggestions from those of who have been successful!

Hi everyone - I haven't forgotten you just had to go on the road for work. It looks like my best days to host a call due to my new project are Tues or Weds evenings at 6:30 or 7 on PST. Is that too late for everyone? I might be able to do mid day Fri as well but won't have that confirmed for another week until I get my new schedule worked out. Let me know what day works best and we will get this scheduled to start next week. Look forward to supporting each other. -
I have had my band for 4 years and still have this happen ever so often so I assume it is normal. Mine goes away within 24 hours. I do know my port is stitched to a muscle.

For the ones that are interested in a call can you send me a private message that has your email address listed so I can send you the call in information? I don't want to publically post it so we can keep the group to a controllable amount. Thanks! -

For those that use MyfitnessPal - do you ignore their suggestion for calories? I have been using it for 3 weeks now and have gained weight instead of loosing. Mind you I know I do not have enough restriction right now (go in Tues for a fill) so that isn't helping my "feeling full" mode like some of you. I am trying to find something that will work and frustrated right now trying to figure it all out. -

Yes I agree. I wasn't sure how many are even interested in doing this to begin with. If a lot of people responded I was going to do several options to keep things small and controllable. -

Yes not video however. I have a conference line I use for work that we could leverage to help each other out. -
I found a way to focus on positive when negative gets me down
katspaw posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So today I had an emotional day of eating because I had "only" lost 6 pds after my fill was done 10 days ago. For some reason I thought I should loose at least 10 pounds within 2 weeks of getting my fill due to the liquid diet we are on at first etc... My 5 pounds were in the first 6 days with around a 4/10ths of pound per day for the remaining 4 days. Because I can't seem to Celebrate the positive and focus on the negative.....I ate a chicken, bean & cheese burrito from Chipotle and I couldn't feel more miserable!!! I felt sp bloated and non-functioning that I just cried because I had been doing pretty good after my fill in 4 years. So being the type A Project Manager I am... I divided my 30 meals I have had in 10 days by my 27 successful meals I have eaten and my track record is actually 90%!! That was so more significant to me than the pounds I hadn't lost!!!!! 90% of my eating was successful in the last 10 days! That meant the world to me. I think I also realize the scale is a trigger for me and isn't healthy and I can't focus on it like most of you can. I thin I will have to focus on successful meals per week instead of pounds for a while. Not sure if anyone else has had to deal with this and found ways around it but I thought I would share just in case. It made me feel more proud of my accomplishments than I had been filling. -

I couldn't agree more.. I said to my best friend today that I need to get out of my head because I am making this worse than it should be. But boy o boy is it so hard. -
YES and day 2 and day 3 and....... until you can eat what seems like real food it is very hard (for me at least) then it is about getting out of your head.

I just had my first fill in 4 years and struggle with the hunger I am feeling. I have a little discomfort in my stomach but am worried it wasn't a big enough fill because I can still gulp drinks/shakes with no issues. I accidentally did that oday out of habit , panicked briefly then was ok because I realized it didn't do anything to me.

I will go tomorrow and buy some to see if they help. Right now I am dieting from hunger on day two of liquid diet after my first fill in 4 years. This is so much harder than I remember it being!! I did sneak and scramble an egg this AM and only eat 2 tablespoons because I woke in such hunger and sluggish feeling. That helped ten but back to starving. Soft foods tomorrow so I hope that takes away that feeling. I sure thought I would be stronger this early in the process. -
