I haven't needed an unfill yet, but I think if you tell them exactly how you feel and what you can eat they should know the amount to take out. Good luck!

I don't have a history of skin infections, but 9 days post op I developed a TERRIBLE rash from the steri strips. I put cortisone cream on it religiously, but it didn't get any better for 2 weeks. But, it does get better.

It's horrible! The first drink takes me breath away and I almost choke. Most of the time I suffer through my headache instead of taking that crap. Why the heck can't tylenol make tiny pills???

I'm only 7 weeks post op so I'm not sure how much of a mentor I can be, but you are welcome to message me anytime about post op stuff. It can be a real booger, but sometimes just talking to someone that has gone through it really helps. I'm all the way across the Metroplex in Rockwall, but a fellow Texan Good luck on your journey!

You could try nonfat plain greek yogurt with a little granola (for crunch). This type of yogurt will keep you satisfied longer than other types with fruit or flavoring. Greek yogurt has a good amount of protein. I squirt mio (liquid no cal flavoring like crystal light) in the yogurt. It adds flavor with no cals, sugar, or preservatives.

Curious about calories in, calories out
drehn88 replied to drehn88's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks, Brad. Everything you said is what I've read in so many books (pre banded). It was so confusing when I read a lapband book that said do not eat more than 3 times a day and 2 times is even better. That will obviously equate to well under 1000 cals. That philosophy goes against everything I read. -
There was an earlier post about emilybites.com. She has a lot of recipes called muffins or cupcakes (not desserts) that would be good for portion control.

Thanks for the tip!

It hurt a little while she was trying to find the middle of my port with the needle. Only one stick, but a lot of moving around of the needle inside. I felt a little heaviness or pressure in the middle of my chest for a couple hours after the fill. I think that was swelling. After that I felt great. Good luck!

I asked the nurse practitioner about ibuprofen today. She said yes, but make sure you eat something when you take it. I guess that helps prevent the ulcers that ibuprofen can cause. I plan to use it sparingly,

I think it may be hunger because I'm definitely hungry! I hate liquids only. My BP was kinda low. Could that cause headaches? I found the liquid Tylenol at CVS pharmacy. It's their brand. Wish I could find grape flavored because this cherry makes me want to throw up!

AWESOME!! You've worked really hard and you deserve to feel great!

Sounds like Texas!

I've never heard it compared that way and it is SPOT ON!

As soon as you are off the pain meds you should be able to drive no problem.
-
Yes. It goes away after a couple weeks, but you may feel that "sting" every so often for the next few months. I guess it takes awhile for it to completely heal since the port was stitched to muscle we use every day.

I'm 6 weeks post op and still wake up sometimes with my port hurting especially when I was sleeping on that side. The nurse said it was normal and may last several months.

I tried the broth by itself and it was horrible. No flavor. So, I started draining the broth from campbell's chicken noodle soup and it was much more flavorful. Probably because of the salt content.

Going back to work
drehn88 replied to italianmama82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a sit down job too so I thought I could go back in 3 or 4 days. No way! I went back a week later (surgery Monday, went to work on the next Monday) and I was very weak and tired. That was probably from lack of calories. About 2 days later I felt much better and able to get through the day. -
I felt great by day 10, but hungry. Be prepared for that.

I'm from the midwest (Iowa), but moved to Texas as soon as I could after college. Texas has lots of jobs (unless you are in education) and it is very pro business. No state income tax. The beaches aren't that great since they are on the Gulf of Mexico, but we have lots of nice lakes. The weather is awesome. What is your occupation?

I started walking last week, but my knees are killing me (I've never had trouble with my knees before). I decided to join a gym today so I could use the elliptical instead of walking. It kicked my a**!! Anyone else having trouble with exercising again? It's such an important part in weight loss, but it sucks that it can hurt.

You are definitely dehydrated. You really need to drink more. Bad things can happen when you get dehydrated. Good luck!

How do you take the Biotin? I've only seen large capsules. Where do you get it? Thx

Healing incisions itch!
drehn88 replied to solson8201's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be careful that the itch doesn't indicate an allergic reaction to the steri strips. At about 7 days post op my incisions started to itch. A couple days later I had a full blown rash that lasted a minimum of 2 weeks and itched like heck! I do not have sensitive skin and had no idea I was allergic.
