Great! That's the only way I can eat yogurt. And it's healthy for you!

You probably shouldn't drive, and especially a 2 hour round trip, until you are done taking your pain meds. I stayed on pain meds for about 5 days. You may be different. I think most doctors say no driving until off pain meds.

Left Shoulder Pain Since Surgery on March 29th 2013
drehn88 replied to lasvegas1989's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I get the same pain and I'm 2 months post op. I figured it was a sign I ate or drank too much. I hope it doesn't mean I've stretched my band. -
Hey! Feel free to PM me any time. I don't see how anyone can go through this journey without support. Hope you are doing well.

True Results question

I may go to the support meeting too! Maybe I will see you there. Your comment about the state fair cracked me up! -
Fellow Texan here! I live in Rockwall. I was banded on May 6 so we are very similar in our journey timeline. I went through True Results. Feel free to PM me. Not sure if I can mentor you since I probably haven't had any more experiences than you.

True Results question
drehn88 replied to txsonicguy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Where are you having your fills? I go to TR in Richardson. At my first few appts. they gave me a book and a few pamphlets about nutrition. At my first fill they gave me a little more nutrition information. This information may be what you need. I've done so much research and read other books so I felt like the information they gave me was redundant. Let me know if you have any questions. -
You can change your calories, protein, etc. on MFP. Go to the "my home" tab and choose "goals". At the bottom click on "change goals". It will probably continue to scold you and say you are eating too few calories. I just ignore it.

My doctor says no food 2 hours before. Drinks are ok.

Do you want high protein, lower carb (for yogurt), no fat or sugar? Try nonfat plain greek yogurt (Fage or Cobani) with squirts of Mio. The Mio adds the fruity flavoring without any sugar or preservatives.

If you could give 1 piece of Pre-op advice, what would it be?

Anti nausea medicine is your best friend after surgery. -
Looking to change doctors in the dallas area

My pre op diet was basically 2 meals of meat/veggies and 2 Protein shakes a day. I'll be honest, after the first week I was so disgusted with the shakes I did Atkins the last week and lost a total of 12 lbs in 2 weeks. Good luck! -
You can change your cals and protein, etc. grams by going to "goals". It's part of the "my home" tab.

What is the difference between the two? -

I totally agree! I bought the chocolate splendor too and it's worse than the unflavored. -
I'm not very creative with breakfast because I love eggs and it keeps me satisfied for at least 4 hours. I've also had plain nonfat greek yogurt (I like Fage 0% or Cobani) with flavored mio and a tbsp of granola for crunch. The yogurt has about the same amount of protein as the eggs, but I get hungry sooner. Maybe because it slips through the band easier.

I used True Results in Dallas, but I think even the doctor's in TR vary on their diets. My pre op diet was basically 2 meals with protein/veggies and 2 protein shakes for 2 weeks. It wasn't too bad.

I see your doctor's name. Did you go through True Results? Are you unhappy with them? I was banded by Dr. Marsden through TR. So far my experience has been good. I really like the nurse practitioner who gives the fills. I think she is very knowledgeable, asks the right questions, and really listens. -
I can't imagine that if you are not taking big gulps that it would stretch your pouch. That's a very good question, though.

I am soo hungry

Maybe try adding nonfat plain greek yogurt to your shakes. It will definitely boost the protein. -
I'm 7 weeks post op and had my first fill today. I had 3.5 cc put in at surgery and 1cc added today. Ever since the fill I've had a headache, which liquid tylenol hasn't helped. Could this be fill related or is it just a coincidence (maybe allergies)? Thanks!

Amen!

I'd like to pose a question to those of you that have researched calories in, calories out. According to myfitnesspal, if you eat below 1200 cals a day and DON'T eat your added exercise calories, your weight loss will slow down because your metabolism slows down. If you subscribe wholeheartedly to theory of one pound equals 3500 cals and you have to create a deficit of cals each day to lose 1-2 lbs a week, then how can eating 1000 cals a day make you NOT lose weight? There is so much information out there and some of it is conflicting. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I had my first fill 2 days ago and I have a little tightness in my chest after I eat too. Everything goes down fine and no sliming. I hope that doesn't mean the food is sitting on top of my band! I can't imagine that's what it is because I can drink Water during this feeling just fine.

Have you read the posts in the nutrition section about carb cycling? There are a lot of people that tried it when they stalled and it worked. I think you can just search carb cycling and find it. Congrats on the great weight loss!
