  1. I agree with Miralax every day. Once you've become regular you could try half a dose daily to keep you that way. If you need to go sooner than the 3-4 days it takes Miralax to work (like you're having cramps and bloating) try Dulcolax suppositories. The directions say to keep the suppository in for at least 30 minutes, but I couldn't keep it in for 15 minutes (and that was a good thing)!
  2. Google. I think it would be a good idea to have pamphlets about LBT located at weight loss centers (for example True Results). I've learned more on LBT than I did at TR.

    TMI: bowel moments

I had the same problem a week after surgery. I took calcium citrate and ended up back in bed with the worst intestinal pains ever. Miralax will take several days. I suggest (as did my surgeon) dulcolax suppositories. The box says to keep it in for at least 20 minutes. I'm never able to last 15 minutes. It works THAT fast.

    Absurd Cost of Medical Care

Tell me about it! I went through True Results. Since my insurance required my surgery to be done in a certain kind of facility (hospital of "excellence" instead of surgical center) my surgery cost over $37,000! And it was day surgery! Those that did self pay at the surgical center, with the same surgeon, paid $11,000. What an insurance rip off!
  5. This is my post fill diet...eat regular diet but be extra careful. It is very obvious all doctors have different opinions on what is best. I highly doubt you did any damage considering my doctor has no restrictions and I haven't had any problems and my band looks great.

    Fill diet changed

I experienced the same thing at True Results Dallas. The crazy thing is when I went in for another fill a month later a different NP said 2 days liquid, 2 days mushy. Not sure if she got the memo! I decided to compromise and do 24 hours liquid, then a mushy meal, then try solids. Worked for me.

    pain where port is at...

I'm almost 4 months post op and I have pain in my port more times than not (the way I slept, standing too long, etc.). I talked to my NP about it and she said it was normal. It's stitched to your ab muscle which gets used all the time. I would still talk to your doctor about it.

Be honest i can handle it

You look great! You also look like you weigh less than 219.

    Mushies

Lasagna cup 1/4 c low fat cottage cheese 1/4 c spaghetti sauce 1/4 c shredded mozzarella Optional Parmesan cheese 2 Tbsp (I think because I don't use it) Mix cottage cheese and spaghetti sauce and microwave for about 30 seconds or to desired hotness. Sprinkle cheese on top and microwave about 30 seconds more. It is so yummy and a life saver for a picky eater like me.
  10. Yes it's gas and yes it hurts like heck! What worked for me is a heating pad, walking around flapping my arms like a chicken to help release gas, and TIME. Mine was gone after about a week. Also, it can come back after you've healed when you overeat. Definitely a good reason to NOT overeat. Best of luck!
  11. Could they find the port, but not be able to get the fluid in? I haven't heard of that. A friend of mine had to have his fill done with x-ray because the NP couldn't find the port and kept sticking him (ouch!).

Anyone have the lasagna cup recipe?

Not sure if this is the EXACT recipe, but it's the one I use and I LOVE it. It is a lifesaver after fills or when you need to baby your band. 1/4 c low fat cottage cheese 1/4 c spaghetti sauce 1/4 c shredded mozzarella Optional Parmesan cheese 2 Tbsp (I think because I don't use it) Mix cottage cheese and spaghetti sauce and microwave for about 30 seconds or to desired hotness. Sprinkle cheese on top and microwave about 30 seconds more.

    Endoscopy and weird diagnosis

I'm interested to hear what your symptoms are. I've never heard of that diagnosis before. What is the course of actions to fix the problem?

    Port Pressure?

Mine will hurt if I'm on my feet for a long time and especially if I go for a walk.

    food

I just saw someone on fb that takes cottage cheese and adds PB2 (powdered peanut butter you can buy at health food stores) and sf chocolate pudding mix. Not sure how that will taste, but it will have a lot of protein.

    Weird fill schedule???

My dr. doesn't go that slow, but from what I read on LBT small fills are the BEST way to go. While it may take longer to hit green, once you do you won't get overfilled and start having issues. I think your doc is doing the right thing (as long as it's not costing you an arm and a leg).

    lapband failure.

Maybe the 2 pounds was water weight during your pouch test. Gaining back 2 after losing 10 in a short amount of time isn't bad at all. Glad for you!

    funny feeling

Hmmm... I'm interested in what other people think it is. I need to look into that silent reflux.
  19. With my first fill I didn't notice any difference. My second fill (now at 5.0 cc) it took about 1.5 before I felt restriction.

    funny feeling

Do you mean a feeling like a "lump in your throat"? I get that (swollen) feeling sometimes and it lasts for at least a day. I think it's from eating either too big of bites or something my band doesn't like (bread, pasta). I've never PB'd or regurgitated, but I think those food "stick" to the stoma or cause it to swell and that's the lump feeling. I've figured out that when I get that feeling I need to spend a day with either liquids and/or mushies. By the next day I'm feeling great.

    gotta love that burp!

    I'm right there with ya!

    Port Pressure?

My NP told me the port will hurt for awhile, and maybe even come and go forever, because it is attached to your ab muscle. Anytime you move you use that muscle so that is why it hurts sometimes.

    Over eating

I've read that when you over eat it puts pressure on the band also putting pressure on the vagus nerve. The pain is then referred to the left shoulder. Our bodies are such a mystery!

    Over eating

When I overeat I get left shoulder pain about 10 minutes AFTER I stop eating. Unfortunately it doesn't happen immediately so it's not a "soft stop" that makes me stop eating. That's why you have to be really in tune with your level of satisfied (or measure a half cup religiously). It takes a few times to figure it out. Since my 2nd fill I've had this "lump in my throat" feeling in the middle of my chest a couple of times. It lasts for over a day. I'm wondering if this also happened because I overate or maybe ate too big of bites and caused some swelling. When this happens I baby my band with liquids or mushies for the next couple of meals. I'm trying to learn my signals so I can prevent those things from happening.
