Good luck! I go in at 8:30 so 10:00 is probably my surgery time. Let us know how it goes!
-
I'm having surgery tomorrow too. I'm excited now and the nerves haven't kicked in yet. I'm sure I won't be able to sleep tonight and I'll be a mess tomorrow. I noticed your ticker said you've been on here for more than 50 days. That means you've done your research and considered all other possibilities. That means you are ready for this. Good luck on your journey!

Hey May 6 banders...Are you ready for tomorrow? I'm so excited! I haven't been nervous at all, but I'm sure tomorrow morning will be a different story. Good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing post-op.

Good to hear you both are doing well post-op. My surgery is Monday. I am so excited!!

Thanks for the advice ladies. That magnesium citrate worked wonders.

Have you tried Pinterest for recipes? You can search lap band recipes or low carb. -
Anyone not requering pre-op diet?
drehn88 replied to lolarose13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a pre-op diet, but my surgeon said it was even more important for men because they tend to carry most of their weight in the midsection. You could do an Atkins type diet one week before. It will stop your carb cravings and then you'll be ready for liquids after surgery. Good luck! -
I use Unjury (powder) shakes that you order on the internet. So far I hate the chocolate splendor (and I LOVE chocolate), the vanilla and strawberry aren't bad, but I like the unflavored mixed with crystal light the best. Good luck to you all!

Wow! 16 pounds is great!
-
I think 15-20 lbs before surgery is realistic. I'm hoping for a 15 lb loss. I'm 6 days into my pre-op diet and have lost 8 lbs. But I do know as women we can fluctuate on a daily basis so I'm just hoping for the best in 8 days.
-
9 lbs is great! I'm down 8 since Monday. I'm hoping for 15 before surgery, but I'm not going to get down on myself if I don't reach that. They say if you can lose 5-10 lbs before surgery then your liver will be smaller. Creekwood, looks like we are ready for surgery!!

I watched all the Dr. Paul O'Brien videos that were posted. He talked about the 8 rules. He mentioned that he tells his patients (in Australia) they can drink during meals as long as they wait 1 minute after swallowing. NOT drinking was the "old school" way. Veteran banders, what are your thoughts on this?
-
I am so happy I posted this question! Not drinking is one of my biggest fears of getting the band. After reading your replies, I will listen to my body. If I keep losing weight while drinking then I will keep it up. If not, no drinking for me.

Thank you for your responses. I'm sure there is a big learning curve with the band.

May 6 in Dallas. Almost done with week one of pre-op diet. I'm feeling very lucky that my surgeon lets me have meat and veggies. Good luck everyone.

bebe2013...Who is your surgeon? Mine is Marsden. I was very pleased when I met him and I hear good things about him. Are you going through True Results?
-
Hi everyone! I'm being banded on May 6 in Dallas. I'm 4 days into the pre-op diet. Not too bad. It's just like most other diets I've been on. For those of you considering unjury Protein shakes, I think the unflavored in water+crystal lite tastes the best. I love chocolate and hate the chocolate shakes. What am I most scared of? Being stuck and getting a stomach virus/throwing up uncontrollably. I don't want to do anything to mess up the band. Too much money riding on this attempt to lose weight.

Cat whisperer...what is your pre-op diet?
-
I commend those of you that are on liquid diets before surgery. Either it's a good thing because you will be ready for the diet after surgery or bad because you will really be tired of protein shakes by then. Hang in there. It's just a drop in time.
-
First day of pre-op diet is almost over. My diet consists of 2 meals of lean protein/veggies (breakfast and dinner) and 2 meals of protein shakes (lunch and snack). I got a little hunger an hour or so before lunch. The shake was not the worst thing, but definitely not the best either. Not sure how long that will last before I really start complaining about them. I can have unlimited veggies/sf jello/sf popsicles. That's a lifesaver. I'm not hunger at all now. I think it's just going to get easier. The key is to stay busy and not let the "head" hunger get the best of you.
-
Good luck to all those starting their 2 week pre-op tomorrow! I sure hope those Unjury protein shakes taste good.

Stomach flu going around
drehn88 replied to lilmispcl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hopefully the infectious period is over by the time you get home. Did you fill your prescriptions? One of them was anti nausea. How do you feel today? Any shoulder pain? Hope all is well. -
Hello May bandsters! I'm set for surgery on May 6. So excited to start this new journey.
