Hi all. I'm going on 5 years with my band and thankfully no problems as yet. I have however regained a lot of weight because of bad old habits, an extra portion here and there and now everywhere. I'm still happy with my band and as I still get fuller faster and I still have episodes where my food gets stuck so hoping that means all is still well with it. I wish to fill my band but even the slightest fill prevents me from swallowing and give extreme tightness and pain in my chest. Anyway I have this great tool amd wish to kickstart again. So as bad as it mau sound I need a kickstart with max weightloss. What is the best way to start? I am from South Africa where the specialist are few and far between and the dieticians do no know much about the surgery. The products are also non existent. I still have all my menus and I am wondering whether a puree diet will be the best? I will starve to death on liquid? Please give me some pointers. Thank you.

Went to the doc again today. He removed 1.5 ml. The pain went away immediately. Ugh but now I only have a 0.5ml fill which will probably not make much of a difference. I'm in Krugersdorp. Sent from my SM-G925F using the BariatricPal App

I had a full yesterday after 2 years of being on 4ml. I am now on 6ml. I got home and had a bit of yogurt and coffee. Took almost an hour. All was fine except for my noisy esophagus. This morning I was OK, had some coffee sipping very slowly. Ever since I had the worst chest pain ever. Even struggling to breathe. I was sliming like crazy. Couldn't take the pain so I went to my GP to take out a ml. GP couldn't help as he did not have a "huber needle". I eventually burped and all was well. I had a few sips of milk as I haven't eaten in 24 hours. Barely took 2 sips before the pain returned. It's the worst pain and I surely can't live with it. So is the tight band somehow trapping gas in my chest? Will it go away or do I have to get unfilled? I can only see doc on Friday and it's quite a drive there. Don't want to go unnecessarily. Thank you. Sent from my SM-G925F using the BariatricPal App

First fill and feel guilty when eating

I feel the same. You think the device will make even the hunger disappear. If only! Think the hunger will always be there, this is when you have to make the choice to eat healthy and small portions. Went to the doc yesterday and he said 3 ridiculously small meals and two Snacks. This means 3 meals of about 200ml food. This is where my mistakes slip in as my brain cant imagine eating only a few bites and being full, then I have a spoon more and more and before you know I'm having normal portions. Luckily we have the band. Such a great thing. Thankful I could get one though. Good luck ☺ Sent from my SM-G925F using the BariatricPal App -
Hi Jimpal, so happy to hear from a fellow South African. That's exactly what I did so I drove all the way to get a fill. Still regretting it a bit, so full and sore. If you feel the device grinding your guts it's terrible. As far as I know they Only have surgeons in CT, PTA and Benoni. Sent from my SM-G925F using the BariatricPal App

An article was posted by a doc a few days ago. 13 things you need to know when you have a band - something like that. Apparently the band has different phases during the day, morning it's tight as the body waking up and at night the esophagus is in full swing. Now I finally know why I always choke on my Breakfast. Hi all, I had a fill today. First in 2 years. Apparently I have a 10ml ring and I'm at 6ml today. Came home, had some drinking yogurt. Took me about 30 mins to drink 150ml, tried coffee a while later, not much luck. My esophagus has a bubbly sensation and is making funny noises. Will this go away? Will die of embarrassment in public. Dreading solids if this is how I react to liquids. Doc is so far. Only three in the country Sent from my SM-G925F using the BariatricPal App

This happens when you eat too fast or don't chew properly. Your esophagus turns into what feels like a vacuum. Nothing in or out. Until you vomit slime and the food. Sorry it's gross. And it hurts. Sent from my SM-G925F using the BariatricPal App

Wow this is the worst. Happens at least 1 every 2 months. Only vomiting helps. Eeuw. And it's painful. Stop eating and take a minute just to get it down. Sent from my SM-G925F using the BariatricPal App
