JC What does the band have to do with your thyroid?
-
I was pregnant with my twins and decided they were more important than the weightloss. I took my Water out. I had a great pregnancy and worried about the weightloss later. Babies come first. I lost my weight with weightwatchers after the twins arrived. Good luck enjoy the rest of your journey!

Hello all! I have been banded since 2004 so that makes me 11 years out. I have had basically very few problems. Re flux when I was pregnant with my twins. I have also no fill since then. when I unfilled I still have restriction, but I think I am a strange case,. I can not eat fast or too much or I will get sick. I also changed my way of life. I have stayed at around 189/190 for most of the time I however did gain weight with my twins and then last year when my father was dying I put on about 20 pounds but afterwards I went to weightwatchers got back into the gym and I have been steady here ever since. I think of the band as a tool. Its not a cure. It allows me to have some discipline when I need it. I used ww to track and make myself understand my habits. I still occasionally forget myself and have seen way to many bathrooms. But 200 plus I know I will never stay for long if I every go there again. This addiction is a life long problem for me, but I will face it head on and keep fighting. Stay strong everyone! Fight on!

So now its 3 years later I wonder if everyone is still feeling the same about a 10?

I Think I'm A Lap-Band Failure!!
bushbaby replied to volleymom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This whole journey is hard. But don't give up. You just have to keep at it and celebrate the little victories. We are to hard on ourselves. One step at a time is the way to a victorious journey! We are addicts who unlike alcoholics can give up our addition completely. We need food to live. So we often have to fall off and get back on several times until we reach our often unrealistic goals. Let our first step as addicts to say I am going for being healthy and not thin... We see the stories and the pictures and the encourage and discourage us.... For the most part we have been on this journey so long it seems as it will never end... But the best part is that if we keep trying and working and keep faithful it will move in the right direction and soon you will find yourself feeling better and living like you never have before. Be encouraged my journey was long but it was worth it.... @ adoptmom -
I Think I'm A Lap-Band Failure!!
bushbaby replied to volleymom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Let's go first to the positive... You have kept off 30 of the 50! Celebrate that. Before the band you prob would have gained that plus more... Now I am old school... Banded back in 04' I haven't had a fill since 05' so who knows if I still even have liquid in my band... I drink hot tea in the morning... Now probably more from habit and like of it then by necessity. It loosens things up so I can eat my breakfast later in the morning... Jamie (that's what I named my band) is still very sinsitive to mornings... She and I have fought over the years and on many times she had to remind me she is my trainer and I am the person who has to go the work... " I am only a tool for a better you" she say after I would whine that I had not lost enough weight. "Did you walk today?" she'd nag until I got up. I say this because I have been where you were... But I made it to where I am because I stopped relying on Jamie and realized that she just helped me not over do it so I could exorcise and yes succeed at weight watchers... Now I can follow the plan and loose the weight because I can stop... I say use weight watchers because you will track what you put in your mouth... The truth of weightloss is it is calories in... Calories burned that get you to lose the weight... And before you say but why did I get surgery if I still have to go to weight watchers... My answer is do once you learn how to eat you can keep it off... But it seems to me that you have not learned how to yet... Just my 2 cents... Hope it helps! -
Second Sequential Screening In Pregancy
bushbaby replied to sunnysandy's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I was 39 when I had my twins and my numbers were all screwy... Dr said it was because I was having twins... Both my little ones are great... My son does have apraxia (problem with speech) but is very slight and my daughter is a baby genius... I decided against the amino because I knew I was having them no matter what... I am sure your baby is fine and who knows if my numbers had anything to do with the band. -
My only comment is which one has the lowest mortality rate... Be informed and careful and what ever you decide you can do this!

I Have Failed My Band And My Band Has Failed Me
bushbaby replied to al0vely's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Does W W really defeat the point... No I used WW when I began and it works great... I learned that my band is a tool and now that I had it I could learn to eat well and I could finally stop when needed... It won't be forever that you will need help.... But we are addicts and WW is like going to A A. The band is like getting detox... I have not had a fill in about 6 years... But I changed my life. I still have to exercise and not go crazy on the junk. But be encouraged you can do this! -
I an not talking about personality... I am talking about sex appeal... When I want I know how to stand, talk, walk so that more men notice... I call it my inner Marlyn... Yes I know I am beautiful... But when I want to be noticed just like Marlyn I change it up... Trust me when I say I turn it on and off... And it works for most women who know what they got...
-
You are so not a 6... Besides its all in the Marlyn.. If you believe it... Act as if you own it... Then the men will see it...
-
Thanks for the complement... And yes I love him he changed my life...
-
Yes... I am the one in the middle...
-
Way to go! Exercise is the key and with your new knee you'll be ready to go! Good luck with the surgery!
-
Whoo hoo get ready to begin the work! Let's do this!

I am glad to see so many of us still have our band... I am 8 years out and it seems that more often than not people are loosing their bands... I guess I was one of the lucky ones so far. I have been banded and had twins and haven't even thought about a full in years... I hover somewhere around 180 and fluctuate with my exercise. When its warm I am active but like a bear I hibernate when it's cold... I love the way the lap band has made me normal... I wish it could be that way for more of us...
-
Does not your idea of what a 10 is change... No doubt even as a woman who is now in her 40's think differently about men... But we also think differently about ourselves... Who in hell just wants to f$@)) now days anyway... If you do you deserve what cha get. Btw I have pulled big or small and dated mostly bigger guys... Not obese but at least 245 is my preference.

Lap Vs Pms (Tom)
bushbaby replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bad me have the same habbits just in smaller amounts... chocolate. I am usually bloated so I have lots of restriction but I will drink the hell out of some coco! Lol -
10 years you are definatly a pro... I have been banded 8... And I have changed so much I don't even recognize myself ( eating habbits) but know this you are strong and God does not give us anything we can't handle. It's an addition so I hope you got some counseling for the overlying issues... Good luck and we are here it you need support!

After Plateauing For Months I Am Now Too Tight
bushbaby replied to theodoru's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sometimes I feel as if I must lecture and today is one of those times... Your band is meant to be a tool to remind you that you are full... It is NOT meant to keep you from eating... Many of you are looking for the sweet spot... You are going to end up loosing your band... Help yourself... Use a journal and exercise to help you with weightloss. I have had too many of my friends need new bands because they wanted a quick fix and not a long term solution... Use it a a tool and you will feel better and your band will last longer.... Sorry just my two cents from being banded for so long. -
Wow I feel for you... I guess I have been one of the lucky ones... Banded for almost 8 years...
-
What you are feeling is perfectly Normal just remember that the band is a tool. And we are all paranoid at first wondering if we are doing it right. Take it day by day and excersize and you will be fine.
