  1. Call your surgeon. I was banded on 4/29. I called to see if I could add something mushy 5 days into post op and he told me to have a very scrambled egg and to eat it slowly. After taking two bites and walking around, just to be sure it was ok I was able to finish it. He said if I could tolerate it that I could have an egg daily. It's really helped. Call your surgeon there might be something that they can add for you if you are looking for something "real" like I was!
  2. How about drinking some warm tea? might help a little bit.
  3. How about fat free yogurt?
  4. I'm hanging in....was banded 4/29. I had some cream of tomato soup for the first time yesterday and it was pure heaven!
  5. Just checking in...tomorrow at 7:30am is my surgery...I'm nervous but optimistic! I'm hoping for a speedy recovery.

    Surgery tomorrow!

Finally feeling like being at the computer! I had my surgery on Monday- all went well. Definitely very, very sore since then. I've been getting up to walk every couple hours and the gas pains go away great when walking. Still sore but that's to be expected. Just resting and napping through out the day and taking sips of water and some clear juice. So far so good. It's a bit surreal though that I have the band inside me!!!!

    Oh crap!!!

Best of luck! I go tomorrow for my surgery!
  8. Well, I received my insurance approval yesterday! Surgery set for Monday, yikes!!! Definitely getting nervous. I'm wondering how I'll be afterward the surgery, if I'll be spending the night or going home. The surgeon told me that my insurance pays for the overnight so if I prefer to stay over I can, otherwise if all goes well I can go home the sameday. Nerves are setting in!!!
  9. Newbie- that all depends on your insurance. I did not. Mine required a 3 month follow up with my surgeon-I had to meet with him for 3 months in a row and then had all the other doctor visits and stuff to get done.

    Go day

It's hard for sure the first couple days, I'm on day 6. I had severe headaches the first 2 days. I did talk to the nurse at the office and she told me to add scrambled eggs to my day, just once a day if I needed it. It's helped.
  12. Thanks! I was thinking that staying the night might be benefical! I'm having a hard time imagining I can walk out to the car afterwards!

    Pre-op diet

I'm on my pre-op diet now, started on Friday. I'm slated for the band 4/29. It varies with each surgeon as to how long they want you on the pre-op diet. I'm on it for a total of 9 days prior to the surgery.
  15. My surgeon advised that I should go to see her once before I have my band and then afterwards and use her as often as I like afterwards. So that's my plan! She has a lot of patients that are banded, so that really helps.
  16. I know! I had to go to bed early the other night...I had a headached, I was tired and CRANKY! LOL.

    Overwhelmed and anxious

I absolutely think that it is normal to have all those feelings prior. I'm scheduled on the 29th of this month...You'll definitely need to give yourself time to heal before working out. My surgeon told me no working out for at least 4 weeks. I can take walks, but no going to the gym and doing any lifting, etc. I think you need to take some deep breathes and understand that it's all going to take some time. I wouldn't worry about not being able to work out right away- you need to let your body heal afterwards and then once your surgeon says you are good to do so then definitely do so. There's no rush. You'll be perfectly fine. I think because we've all struggled with weight and then we go through a long process to get approval- it's normal- we've been dealing with this for so long. It's overwhelming. We want to see results- we're committed. I think we need to give ourselves sometime to let it all fall into place. I truly think it all will. Taking the step to get the surgery is a huge step. Don't let other things bother/worry you. I know it's much easier said than done, but I do believe that keeping positive will help. Getting overwhelemed is not going to help you. I like that you said to set small goals, I think that's a big step. Getting the surgery is a step to take. See how you feel afterwards, how you heal, etc. You're making progress by having the surgery- think of it that way. Stay positive. Everything will fall into place!!!
  18. Good Luck! I met with mine once and then I'll go after I'm banded on the 29th!
  19. I'm with you! I started it on Friday, today is day 4. It goes in waves- one hour I'm ok then maybe I get hungry later on, etc. I had to battle with the headaches too. So far none yet today! We can do this!!!
  20. I'm waiting on mine, as it was submitted last Monday. The office told me generally they hear back from the insurance companies within one week. That's what they have seen. Good luck!

  22. I am! but sorry, I'm a girl! best of luck to you!
  23. Just checking in as I started my Pre-op diet yesterday and my surgery is scheduled for 4/29. Yesterday was rough!!! I bought the protein shakes at Costco and they do taste very good. They have 160 calories, 30 grams of protein and 1g of sugar. I drink 4 a day and then I can have soup broth, jello, Fat Free yogurt and sugar free popsicles. I also can have a cup of Fat Free Milk once a day and 4 oz of juice once a day. I ended up with a wicked headache last night and took tylenol and went right to bed. Today I've been better. It has it's up's and down's but I know that I can do this. I'm definitely very ready for this and I'm looking forward to being healthy. If anyone else is on their pre-op diet please share how you're doing!
