Banded Tuesday, May 28th. Starting to feel more pain today
ksaug21 replied to dannygoody's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very well could be..did they give you any medicine to take if you needed it? If not and you are still in pain you should reach out to your doctor and see. -
UGH- keeping my fingers crossed for you! Mine was quick, thank goodness. It took Atena 3 days to get back to my surgeon's office. I don't understand some insurances! Hopefulyy you'll hear real soon!

Point Pleasant!!!
-
We've made some strawberry and banana smoothies with just adding a little OJ and ice in the blender with a banana and cut up strawberries and it is very good. I'll eat some Kashi cereal since it has a lot of protein in it and I'll add some blueberries. It will hold me for a while.

I had my first fill last week, 4cc's. I felt it a couple hours after I went and had it. It's been keeping me fuller longer, so it's a start. I was banded 4/29.
-
I can only feel it, but if I kinda bend down a little bit and to the side it moves a little bit, LOL.

Best Protein Shakes
ksaug21 replied to fashionstylist's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the Shakes at Costco called "Premier Protein." They come in Choc and Vanilla and they have 30 grams of protein, 160 cals and only 1 gram of sugar. -

stephanie0456, I was banded 4/29! LOL. I'm in Point Pleasant! You? -
"Smooth Move" Organic tea works wonders for me. I drink it at night and the next morning it helps. It's been amazing for me. I got very constipated from only doing the protein shakes on my pre-op diet.
-
Hang in there. Once you get back to solids you'll start eating a bit more and having a lot more energy. These stages after surgery are rough. Are you eating soft foods with a lot of protein? That will help. You'll definitely start to eat more once you are on regular food and the energy will come back!

Not loosing what the world
ksaug21 replied to adugan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't compare yourself to others; although I know that sometimes that is hard not to do. You are doing well. Everyone is different and will lose a different amount each week, month, etc. If you think you are not losing as much as you should, I'd suggest going to speak to your doctor. I'm trying to drink extra Water to help move things out and along! I sit during the day too at work. I will walk at lunch time and I try to get up every 30 minutes to walk to the water cooler, walk around a little bit, as much as I can. You are doing well though-don't get down on yourself!!! -
First fill soon = nervous
ksaug21 replied to bindi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my first fill this week and I was full of anxiety. Super nervous...but I didn't feel a thing! it was so quick and painless. I had liquids for 24 hours and then my doctor told me that I could have mushy/solid foods and I haven't had any problems. I just eat slow and chew really well. Think positive! It's definitely better once you have it behind you because you know exactly what to expect. But I was filled with anxiety and it was super quick and I didn't feel a thing. I haven't had any problems eating/drinking. I do feel tighter! -
Ins approval without medical record of morbid obesity?
ksaug21 replied to Missvicky388's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you know exactly what your insurance will want to see? Some insurances are very different. Have you been to an OBGYN yearly? They would have your weight for each visit? I had my doctor write a letter stating my weight for the past two years while seeing him for various things, like bronchitis, etc. It wasn't an "official" medical record but a letter that he wrote and then he stated in the letter that he felt was a good candidate for the lap band. Find out what your insurance will/will not accept. -
Maybe go see your doctor and a nutritionist- they should be able to get you on a plan that could help.

IT's gas and the air...walk when you can even if it is just down your hallway and back to the bed/couch...it definitely helps release the gas. Burp as much as you can!!!
-
No, you are probably very swollen. My surgeon told me that it takes at least 4-5 weeks to fully heal. I felt bloated too and then there is all the gas to deal with.
-
Were you recently banded? Could be gas for sure. Gas X did not work for me when I had the gas pains. I had to walk and walk and then it would eventually release. I also sipped "Smooth Move" tea which is an organic tea that would help me.

Greetings from the New Guy
ksaug21 replied to Deacon Blues's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wishing you the best of luck!!! This is the best thing that I've done for myself and I've only been banded 4 weeks!!! But I notice a different in my weight loss, blood pressure normal, I have more energy....you can do this! -
Don't get obsessed with the scale because it is just not going to help. You are doing well and you should be proud of yourself. My surgeon says that I should be losing 1-2 pounds a week and that it is the healthy way to lose the weight and keep it off. You are doing great!!!
-
awesome job! congratulations!!!!!

First person to notice weight loss..that didn't know I had lapband
ksaug21 replied to taylor1989's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's awesome!!! -
How many other doctor's have you reached out to?
-
I had a TON of anxiety- but let me tell you, as Jaye282 says above, getting your blood taken is a lot worse. I did not feel a thing. I didn't look and I had to ask the Dr if he had already gone in with the needle because I felt nothing- and he said he was in! he told me that for the first fill he first takes out air bubbles, so that took about 30 seconds to 45 seconds. I didn't feel anything. Then he went ahead and filled me. Again, I felt nothing. I'm nervous about needles- so believe me when I say that it's honestly not a big deal. The anxiety of having it was a million times worse!!! Take a deep breath and do what the Dr tells you during, like to stay still, etc and it will really be fine.

ksaug21 replied to ajayb19's topic in Insurance & Financing
I'm not sure if my doctor does, but it's worth a shot! It's Dr. Kipnis and he is in Neptune, NJ right down the road from Jersey Shore hospital. He has been awesome!!! 732-775-5005...worth calling and asking because his office staff and him are excellent! I have Atena insurance. -
So glad everything went well! take it easy and rest, rest, rest!!!
