  1. I'm going next Wednesday to see my surgeon and will get my first fill. I'm nervous but I'm sure it will be fine! just that first-time anxiety!!! I'm starting to get hungry here and there so the timing will be good. I don't get startving but I notice that about 20 minutes before lunch/dinner I'll get a little hungry. I was banded on 4/29 and I've lost 33 pounds to date. I think the fill will be very helpful to keep me on track here and is definitely coming at a good time!!!

    HELP!

after being banded the first week I called my surgeon and told him I was getting a little hungry like I needed a little bit more than the liquids and popsicles. He told me to have a scrambled egg real mushy and eat it slow. If I could handle it I could have one a day- it was heaven!!! and FF yogurt. It really helped me.

    I got stuck :(

I got stuck I think last night for the first time on chicken. It didn't come back up but it was painful going down and took a good 10 minutes- I just layed down while it was hurting me and then it passed...I don't know if that was getting "stuck" or what, but I didn't chew well or maybe ate it too quick I'm not sure. UGH.

How do you know when you need a fill?

Hi- I had my first fill 4 weeks exactly after surgery. I think every doctor is different so I'd definitely inquire and see what yours thinks. I'm going for my 2nd fill next week.

    Post op: time between fills

I had my first fill at exactly 4 weeks.
  12. What did your doctor tell you? You have to try your hardest to follow their instructions. The first couple weeks after surgery is rough. If you are on an all liquid diet then you'll need to stick to that. I had sugar free popsicles and my protein shakes and tea, diet snapple. That is what I was having for the first week after surgery, into my second week. I started on creamy soups on week two along with a scrambled egg. Hang in there! but check to see what your doctor advised you!

    Just had 1st Fill!

I just had my very first fill. I was so nervous, but I didn't feel a thing, so it was a lot of anxiety but that's because I didn't know what to expect. He gave me 4cc's. After he gave me the fill he had me drink some water and I didn't feel anything, which he told me was good. It's been about an hour and I actually feel a little tightness so that is good that I can feel it. I wasn't filled at all from the surgery. He told me to have liquids for the rest of the day and tomorrow mushy foods and then slowly try the solids again. So that's my plan! I'm just glad to have the first one behind me so I know what to expect!

    Prenatal Vitamins

I've seen them at the Rite Aid stores. I'm in NJ, I don't know if that matters or not!
  15. I think it is very natural and normal to be scared before the surgery-I was too. Not everyone has sliming and vomiting...I have been fortunate to have not experienced any of that yet. I was banded on 4/29. So I'm still new to all of this! I have had my first fill though and I've been doing well with the band. I too had gestational diabetes with my daughter. I didn't want to have diabetes when older. That's one of the reason I went for the lap band. It can also be removed. It sounds to me like you are having the surgery for all the right reasons. And it is normal to get scared about it. There are many people who have had no issues, like myself to date. I'm very glad that I had this surgery. I'm seeing real results and for the first time in my life I have energy and I'm feeling great. And if for some reason you do have some issues there is always this forum to help you and of course your doctor. I think if you want to be successful you will. It's all in what we want and decide to do. The liquid diet is tough. It's rough. The best advice I can give you is to stay busy. And go for those sugar free popsicles. They were a lifesaver for me! Those and also tea's and diet snapple. It's not easy but it's doable and you'll get your body ready for the surgery and used to the liquids for right after the surgery. It's no fun, but if you really want to do it you will. And it gets easier, which is the best part!
  16. I was out of work a week and a half and I needed it. There is no way I could have gone back that quickly. My surgeon told me that I should take a minimum of 1 week off from work. I'm sure everyone is different and heals at different rates. I needed the full week and the half. Did your doctor recommend a time-frame to you?
  17. See how you feel after the surgery and how much skin there is. It's going to depend on how the excess skin effects YOU. It might be uncomforable. It might not bother you. You'll need to see when you get there. It's about YOU. And it's a decision that YOU will have to make when you get there depending on the amount and feel of it.

    Clothes

    no way!!!!!
  19. It went well for me- definitely more anxiety prior to going and having it done, but I felt nothing, no pain! I started to feel the restriction a couple hours later. So far so good! I had a fill of 4cc's.

    banded 4/30/13 Down 50 pnds

    awesome job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. The first month is very, very tough. It take a lot of will power. You'll definitely need to follow your doctor's orders. Just remember that your pouch needs to heal. If you overfill it, you'll have serious problems. That is what kept me going. I kept thinking about that. You'll have a lot more to deal with if you do not listen to your doctors orders. You need time to heal. I drank a lot of tea and water and diet snapple. I also kept myself very busy, which definitely helped.Try going out of the house and being away from the food. Drink your protein shakes. It's not easy- but if you can do it you will see results! hang in there, you can do this!!!

    88 pounds down

    Congratulations!!!! You look fabulous!!!!
  24. Congrats on getting approved! The next few weeks will be a little rough, but just hang in there. I'd ask your doctor about the wonton broth. It's not supposed to have anything in the broth so I'm not sure about the egg drop soup but I'd definitely ask your doctor first. I did chicken broth and vegetable broth, along with the protein shakes and sugar free pops.
  25. I had to do the liquid diet before my surgery for 10 days. I drank a lot of tea, which helped me and I was told that I could have sugar free popsicles which really helped.
