Being under 70kg is a healthy BMI for me too and it's my ultimate goal. I would like to try for about 60kg which is a BMI of 23 for me below borderline lol! I'm hoping time get there by Xmas 2013, I'm 109kg right now so have 49kg to lose. Wow seems like so much to me.

That's fabulous news Kelli! I'm one of the in betweeners. I don't even have a surgery date yet! But i'm looking to ask for late January, I have a holiday booked at seaworld in the first week of 2013. It will be our first since my little girl was born and I don't want to spoil it. I'm a little quiet since I feel like I cant give much advice as I don't really know what being sleeved feels like, I do know what overweight feels like though!

Telling Wveryone Or No One
Mimz replied to Mich grand's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I still haven't had surgery, but I Have told my hubby and mother in law who live in the same house. My babies are too young to understand 4 & 2. I have told my mum and sister and my dad will just get told when he asks how I lost it lol! The rest can just guess how I did it! -
Kelli I'm getting mine done at st George private by assoc/prof peter Cosman. He has clinics in Liverpool and st George. Has had the sleeve done himself and a very impressive background!

Kristi so glad that went off without a hitch! I'm planning to ask for a date in January sometime after Christmas and new year. We are going away to the gold coast 1st week of January and I really don't want to ruin the kids holiday if I have issues. At least this way I have the rest of the year to recover lol!!!!!! Next holiday I might be able to don a bikini! Well not with my baby battered body! I hope we get surgery dates close by, I need a recovery buddy lol!

Nessa, that is fantastic news!! You should be so proud of yourself, I only dream of losing that much weight. Good on you!

Just to chime in, I was going to go through the oclinic but found a surgeon closer to bankstown assoc/prof Peter Cosman. Glittering resume and operates at St George Private in Kogarah, I've stayed there before and it was pretty swish! Dr Cosman has had the sleeve himself and that pretty much made up my mind about who I wanted to do the surgery!
-
Totally got to try that! My hubby would think I've lost it though putting it on my face lol! Actually can't wait to try it now just to see it!
-
Nessa: that's fantastic! My dream is to be able to buy something from events or sheike I love clothes but just can't fit into them! Kelli: nice to have a kg twin.......well not that we are anymore! I'm 166cm how tall are you? That makes for a lovely BMI of practically 39!!

Thanks Kelli! I understand that everyone's recovery is different I myself have had 4 surgeries under my belt lol! The worst being my first caeserian. Now that was ouch, but then again they are cutting layers of you open!! I know poor Lila has had complications and my heart goes out to her I only hope it does not happen to anyone else, but I am fully aware of the risks. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. I am 108-9kg at the moment my goal being under 70kg. Ultimate being 60kg, I've always been able to lose weight but not keep it off long-term. After having kids not at all! Always so damn hungry and I can eat A LOT!

Omg Kelli I have a billion questions! How was your post op recovery? What was it like swallowing food/liquids the first time after surgery? Was there a lot of post op pain? What's meds were you given afterwards? Would you say it was really hard the first couple of weeks or was it just a big change? Ok that's it for now! I will think of some more later lol!!

Inevitable, I haven't been sleeved yet but at the moment I'm waiting to be booked, because of the busy hole work is right now it won't be until early 2013 for me. Keep your chin up, everyone is scared of failing including me! But we need to support and encourage each other, any weightloss is a win and the fact you made such a major choice in having the surgery tells me that although you fear failure, you are absolutely committed! I look forward to sharing this journey with you! Welcome to AMY as well!!! Oh and to Lilly, hi there I am sorry you have been through so much, everyone here is so supportive and I'm hoping to be one of them! BIG HUGS

Hi there sleevers, I have my appointment and after my information night last night I have decided to changed surgeons to the one I saw yesterday. Believe it or not he hasn't done near as many as Dr. Taylor, but he really advocated the sleeve and pretty much said the band was crap and he hates doing them. I love his honesty and the fact that he didn't just use old stats from years ago and went out and researched it on his own! What really clinched it for me was the fact that he has been sleeved himself!!!!!! He suffered from obeisity and wants to change peoples lives the way he changed it by having the sleeve. I think I'm in love! So my booking appointment is on 16th October 2012 and then I get a date which will be early next year. I'm for the first time not so scared but getting a little excited!

I cannot thank you all enough for your replies and positivity! I went to a seminar last night and saw a surgeon that has had it done himself by a collegue!!! Very impressed and he was a big fan over the sleeve. I have decided to book in with him. But thank you all very much once again!
