Hey guys im going to take a hiatus from this forum for a while, i love reading all the success stories and am so happy for those who are well on their way to being sleeved. I'm to be honest feeling a bit sorry for myself at the moment as everything has been so up in the air for me. My first consult was Oct 16th and I am no closer to knowing whats going on, by the time I even get sleeved (if i ever do) it wont be until now March next year. I wont leave you all hanging though, I will pop in and tell you what my surgeons decision either way. I hope you all have a Merry Xmas and enjoy your new years! Take care xxx

One_elle good question! I'm more frightened of that one and having to bypass my stomach all together scares the hell out of me, to be honest I'm not sure why i wont want an RNY? My surgeon doesnt do them, but in saying that he can always refer me to someone who does. Hubby thinks im jumping the gun a bit and should wait to see what the surgeon says first.

My new years resolution is to have surgery lol! Not looking good for me my friends, i am being investigated for barretts osephagus also apparently its a huge contradiction to the sleeve surgery i may be destined to live off lite n easy for the rest of my life. My follow up for results is 24th January, i have this feeling though i will be turned down for vsg....... RNY would be the only other option and i dont think i want to go diwn that path. Anyone doing anything spectacular for xmas?? Bbq at mums for our family this year.

Hi everyone! Out from my endoscopy just resting in the post op lounge. More bad news though they discovered polyps in my stomach which now have to be biopsied all that keeps flashing in my head is "Cancer!!!" Have to wait for the results before i can even think about surgery.......if he will do it now I'm 32 years old and am feeling 100yrs old at the moment, no sure what else to write really.........feeling a bit sorry for myself right now.

Lila, i cant relate to that yet, but do you think that Cereal gets all soggy and expands in your tummy? I know when i let it get soggy they blow up because they suck up the milk, or it could even be the milk making you feel blah? On a different topic, my son is having his birthday party this sunday he is turning 4, he's so excited. Its at a play centre so its going to be kids galore lol! My endoscopy is this Friday so hopefully things arent to horrid in there and i can get my surgery date when i go back in January, i hate all this waiting!!!!

Hi all, Well I almost have a date, I've seen the NUT, the psych and had the all clear. I suffer heartburn especially after 3 kids, my surgeon wants to do an endoscopy (camera into stomach) to make sure nothing serious is causing it before he goes ahead. My question is did you suffer from heartburn before VSG? Has it changed after surgery and lasty did your surgeon do any tests prior to surgery for it? Thanks to all in advance!
-
Ok the verdict - i have to go for an endoscopy in 2 weeks because i suffer from heartburn. He wants to check that there is nothing sinister going on before the surgery, i was disappointed but when i thought about it i'm glad he is being careful. So at the moment we are still looking mid to late Feb next year pending the endoscopy is good. Thanks for all your thoughts you are all so lovely!

Hi Everybody! I've been thinking hard about this.......maybe too hard my brain hurts! I originally had an appointment with Dr. Craig Taylor at the OClinic North Sydney and booked myself in for the band on October 15th 2012 (not quite sure why, I went in wanting the sleeve). After trawling the internet and forums about the band I completely flipped out and cancelled the surgery (I know Im a chicken) I've been reading a little more about the sleeve and would much prefer it, but at the same time is scares the hell out of me! If I'm going to go ahead it won't be until April next year, not because of any waiting lists or lack of funds, but I just need to give myself time to come to terms with what I'm going to be doing and I don't have much option for leave at the moment. I'd like to ask a couple of questions, I've read all the answers in other threads, but I NEED to ask these questions myself if that makes any sense? Here we go: 1. Was the pain really bad, I mean moaning groaning on the verge of tears pain? 2. Was there nausea, how long? (This scares me the most I HATE nausea!!!) 3. How long till you were back at work? Do you really need only 2 weeks? 4. Did you all have feeling of anxiety to the point you though about backing out? 5. At what point do you start feeling normal again (food & Energy wise) 6. Did anyone go to Dr. Craig Taylor? I will thank everyone in advance and I will be planning to stick around until surgery if/when I decide to have it. I'm so glad I have found some aussies!!!!

Scotty: Great to hear you are doing so well Scotty!!! I hate the hiccups on any other normal day so feel for you Can't wait to pick your brain about Post op while its still fresh in you mind. Lila: I had a bit of a giggle at your nutri grain wobble, I'm glad the dietician was ok with it, they do get pretty soggy anyway. I'm so glad you are doing well now, being at home must be a dream! Bella: You go girl! Give those shoes a work out...........mine have cobwebs all over them My Psychology appointment is this Monday........when did that creep up?? I then am back to the surgeon on the 23rd November to "discuss" things, maybe a date? LOL. Quick question...........did anyone have any nausea after surgery? How long did it last?

Oh good luck Scotty! Definitely be thinking of you!

Good Morning my friends! Procrastinating at work, so not motivated today! I cannot believe that my Psych appointment is already only 1.5 weeks away and then off to the surgeon for a date. I've had to unfortunately push that a little further out too, realising that the end of Jan is the change of term for the Junior Medical Officers, so as their trainer (using the computer systems) I can't book it then! POO. I am now sitting at a suggetion date of 18th February 2013 (well my suggestion anyway!) I have the "special" book, bowl and plate that I bought from my dietician. Was really pleased at some of the food options after the puree stage. I have all my information sheets and a lighter wallet he he he. Everyone on here is doing so great. also joined a private Facebook Page called "Gastric Sleevers Australia" a private group of course so it doesn't show up on your news feed, anyone part of it on here?

Ok blabber mouths! I have since much to catch up on! Firstly........ Lila: so excited you are in your way home soon! To all the newbies welcome! These guys and girls are amazing Scotty: the rumor mill is always turning isn't it! Hi to the rest you! Oh and whoever got the guess top Woohoo!!! As for me had my appointment with the dietician yesterday and now onto the psychologist on the 5th November. I have my plate and bowl and my portion perfection book for bands and sleeves. All I need now is my surgery date lol!!!

No surgery date yet. I have been referred to a psychologist and dietician first. A bit disappointed, but I like the fact that he is being so thorough. I just hope the psychologist doesn't screw me over lol!

Waiting at the specialist office for my appointment as I type! Will let you know of my date as soon as I'm done!
