How many days/weeks out are you? And not to worry I do the same thing when I see a weight loss haha.
-
I guess my thought is why take the chance? I'll wait a few moments after to take a drink but I won't drink while I'm eating. I say that because I have a history of packing away the liquids while eating so to me its like a gateway drug back into my old ways. If your doc says small sips then of course you can everyone is different good luck everyone

Its highly recommended not to drink at all while eating because its like eating slider foods. It helps push your food down faster which means you become hungry sooner. Hope how I worded that makes sense. Lol. As for spicy food. I've been adding spice slowly as I used to eat peppers raw because I love them and so far no issues. Its better now that my gapping hernia has been repaired lol best of luck on everyone's spices haha.

So I am curious to see what goal/s everyone else has. I know for me I have been carrying around a box of clothes for the past few years and kept telling myself ...."keep these you will get back into them I promise" as well as the goal to become healthy and fit and lose all this extra weight so my joints don't pop lock and grind. I already have one outfit in my sights right now....nothing special just some old Walmart blue jeans and a free T-shirt from some activity I did where they gifted me a shirt that I never got the chance to wear because it was too small. Size wise I am in a stretch...by that I mean I had given up on jeans about a month ago when I couldn't fit any of them. I'm probably a 22-24 woman's and my first goal pants are my size 20s but the ones that prance thru my dreams are a size 17 juniors plus or some nonsense like that. Really they are nothing special they are holey, the belt loops are torn from my repeated jerking to keep them up, but to me....they symbolize progress. Each day the joy of working hard to get into those jeans brings me into this weird happiness. I know that with the band and I working as partners, he/she/it can help me get there. (I'm contemplating giving it a name for general conversation where I don't want people to know I had wls) please feel free to spill your guts to me and tell me your hopes dreams and wishes.

I FEEL THE SAME WAY!! I accept that I will probably never way less than my love (he weighs 125) jerk lol but even if I could slip into his oversized shirts that would be a score for me. And the clothes....ugh I can't find anything ever in my small town. I have found one pair of jeans in 3 years. I have to travel to find any sorta cute stuff and then shirts that looked cute go on my body in a weird manner and look nothing like they would on a fit and toned body. Again you will be there soon enough.....we just gotta keep working. *clinks imaginary Water glass with you...."to wearing and finding cute clothes in our near future"

finally had my surgery!!
miznikkie08 replied to miznikkie08's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yeah I realized that yesterday on my walk that it was time to call it quits but I slept like an angel last night. First night back at home with my boyfriend rather than at my parents plus just knowing how well its going was a relief. Thank you for your support. -
So I am a new Band member.....yeah bad joke I know. Any who I had surgery Thursday March 28th. I weighed in at 283.0 as of today I weigh 277.0 I came out of surgery and immediately wanted to get up and walk. By the time I got to the floor it took me 2 hours to convince the nurses to let me up and then it was game over from there...they couldn't stop me. I spent one night in the hospital and I walked every 2 hours and did good. Gas pains sucked but heat packs and pain meds plus all the walking helped. I am home now been doing great. Eating is new. I am currently on puréed foods. I go in Wednesday to get my staples removed and I'll clarify how long I have to be on the puréed foods diet. I had a big hernia and then the band was placed aswell. So I need to be reminded of how long again. This process started about a month ago and I was only just approved Tuesday evening and then I started clear liquids Wednesday and went to surgery Thursday morning. It all happened so fast. I am very excited for my new life. Any questions feel free to ask me

Weight loss in the first 6 weeks
miznikkie08 replied to julie7374's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OK take it from me (6 DAYS post op) you can never NEVER guess how your body's going to react to all the recent change lol I have lost as of today 11.2 pounds!! What?! Crazyness. Now I'm sure I will slow down now that my body's feeling better and awake but still even if I got threw my first 4 weeks and only lost 11 pounds I'd be happy because I wasn't trying. I simply wanted my Body to heal and I provided it doctor recommended high protein foods (pour off the spoon/purees) and it just so happened to drop some which is good. I think whether you gain, lose, or maintain in the first few weeks its just your body getting acclimated to its new best friend aka the band haha. I hope you all have good luck....can't wait to see your progress down the line. -
bye bye to the old me...

I Wanna Hear Your Lapband Stories Good Or Bad. Lots Of Questions Xd
miznikkie08 replied to YumiiShyy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hely88 you are very correct as if I haven't heard it enough from everyone in the support group all the way to my doctors they are against drinking your calories because they don't have enough volume to stick with you for more than a half hour. They slide down. Yes they say fine for puree or liquids stages (sometimes) but after that they want you to ditch them. I say this as a smoothie lover a healthy smoothie lover. No extra sugar, lots of protein, veggies and few fruits.....and now they are not good for me to be able to use my band to its fullest potential. The bands not magic....you can fail it just as easily as it can fail you. Nothing in this world is perfect. Also any other advice I have is pointless since I'm only 6 days post op haha! But feeling great so far. Best decision of my life and already down 10 PDS from surgery and I'm not dehydrated or nothing. Oh and he fixed my massive hernia and my reflux is gone! Yay! -
How many meals a day???
miznikkie08 replied to Pittsburgher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going to post after you to say I agree haha. My doctor told me that my only job in all this is to eat properly, aka skip the junk foods, exercise, and eat when hungry. He said by no means should I be aiming for any certain calories like I did before. As long as I'm happy and my numbers (blood work) reflect that I am okay. best of luck to everyone! -
The good news is that the post diet isn't too horrible in some ways because its only the "head hunger" I'm almost a week out and still don't feel hungry...I just eat my 3 Dr ordered meals a day (4oz portions) and I keep on. Its been easier than I thought because my tummys not like oooh eat that...and that...oh boy and that! Lol good luck!!!!
-
Yay someone else who was banded the same day. Lol I was very lucky that everything has gone down just fine. Just remember to take your time. I know that's why I am doing so well. I'm in no rush to chow down on my purees lol I even eat with a tiny spoon just so that I don't make the mistake of putting one of my old bites (a heaping one) in my mouth.
-
Congrats on the weight loss! Keep it up! I was banded the 28th so not even a week in but I already feel better...pretty sure its pulling a mind trick on me already haha
-
Nobody jump me but my preop diet consisted of no solids only clear liquids starting at midnight the night before and lasted 48 hours after surgery...now I'm on "pour of the spoon" foods aka purees no lumps no bumps....I think I would have secretly gone all modern day interpretation of a vampire and hunted wild animals if I had to do a long pre op like you guys. Then again mine may have been different because I wasn't even approved for my surgery until Tuesday and then Surgery was already scheduled for Thursday. Hmm I wonder if it would have been any different... Best of luck to everyone!!! Can't wait to see your success and just remember there will always be a negative person out there to tear down the band....but we are all individuals with our own body's, goals, and minds.....I have faith in you all succeeding!

How many meals a day???
miznikkie08 replied to Pittsburgher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm new here (only been banded since the 28th of March) but other than right now while my hernia and stomach are healing my doctors ultimate instructions are to simply eat ONLY when hungry. Obviously if your not hungry at all that's a bit of a problem hints why during the first few weeks your on a mandated 4oz 3x a day (at least I am) my surgeon is fantastic and his office answers any questions I have. A good surgeon will support you and help you figure it all out. Like everyone has said. Each person is different. Best of luck to you!! -

finally had my surgery!!
miznikkie08 replied to miznikkie08's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Mine is called "pour off the spoon" diet. No lumps no bumps but I can eat anything that purees and falls off a spoon. So brothy soups pureed. Baby foods. I had two nutritionist, the Dr, the drs assistant, and the lap band mentor tell me this. I only had to be on liquids for 24 hours after being home. So one day on, then surgery day, then all the next day until noon the following day. Everything's gone down well and please be aware....tmi coming....I have already had a bowel movement. Yay lol -

I used to be a CNA so I've seen the people that refused to get up verses the people who got up and moving quickly so I knew first hand which I would be haha. They called me the runner! Lol
