New band; diet concerns
miznikkie08 replied to lpoteetrn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think terry was meaning nothing will help you if you are eating stupid... Not that you are stupid. I think it's a common misconception that everyone come out of surgery and is suddenly not hungry. Me= not hungry my friend=hungry... Our bodies are all so different and will act different. Don't go testing foods "because I can" or your likely to end up back in the same boat. Until you get a fill you need to work hard at eating things the doctor suggested. I'm only speaking from my own experience. Btw my friend and I had same doc only a month apart and we are same starting weight and currently same weight (she's a bit lighter) she really struggled with being hungry all the time. I didn't struggle until I ended up having my gallbladder out :/ I hope you find the strength to make this work for you... It's not easy but I have faith in you... (We all have trouble with our fat ppl brains XP ) -
Note to self...don't go to diff Dr. Wait for your Dr's Nurse :/

Yeah I realized after the appointment she was nowhere near my port lol way to low!! Mine sits just shy of my ribs (which I hate when I lay on it). Yes I realize my goal is mighty darn aggressive and I'd be happy just to get out of my stall. I say I need simply because to me growing up I was always taught that you get the things you need but you don't always get what ya want. I set that goal simply because my one year anniversary is coming up with my man and I'd like to take pictures with him but I want to be in "one"derland. If I'm not I won't take pictures. I will continue to work until I hit that goal. This has been my goal for the past several months but I lost time when I was without a fill for awhile (dang you gallbladder) lol ( btw I totally get what you meant about want and need... It's just how I was raised lol) I should also mention my normal nurse gets me in and filled in under 10 minutes... This dr took a hour to even come into the room to see me!! Yikes. I wish this wasn't such a long journey, I wish I could click my heels and be fit and healthy. Hey a girl can dream!! Lol -
How did you get beyond a plateau?

I too am stuck in the 40 pound rut... Well 44 to be exact. I just started adding cardio and I'm hoping to get a fill. I have a thread under the fills that tells ya why I am "hoping" for a fill. Lol good luck everyone! -
Has anyone experienced sharp coming and going pain a hour or more after eating that last 15 minutes to few hours? I've been admitted to the hospital after having my band drained of 4.5 CCS of fluid and the pain still there. Doctor thought I was having a stuck episode but felt like nothing I have ever felt before (yes I've had 2 stuck episodes and know them well I believe) I've had this same thing happen 3 times in the last Twp weeks. First two times were 15 minutesish and this one well its been 4.5 hours and thankfully the morphine and zofran have taken the pain away. Any ideas?? I truly don't know what's going on. I'm scheduled for an upper GI Tomarrow. They took blood and oh on a another note my main surgeon is in Maui luck guy. Any ideas would be great. Thanks bandsters!

Yes I have been having regular bowel movements, doctors are still running test. I should be going back for an upper GI this hour to see if my band has slipped possibly and then they are going to check labs and do a ultrasound of the gallbladder. Honestly have no idea whats going on. My stomach is still sore but not clenching like it was last night. Nausea is coming and going. They are giving me zofran and morphine. Although I have not taken morphine since I first came in. This discomfort is nothing compared to last night. I'm also clearly dehydrated. Dark urine, nearly 1000cc of fluid in via iv and I've only gone to the bathroom once, not to mention my veins were crap. Ugh I need to be better now! I can't afford this hospital bill and I have work Tomarrow. :/

Just got done about a half hour ago with my second fill. I have lost 27 pounds in 6 weeks. I am very proud of that number but I'm eager to get to 30 pounds lost lol. Still have a long way to go but at least I'm getting closer. My first fill was painful but this time I didn't even feel it! It was great. I'm up to 4cc. Nurse was not sure why Dr didn't give me the full 3 last time so she was a bit hesitant to give me more than two. Its okay with me tho because I know its working. Yay! Starting my 5k training this week for a family 5k in October. Also hoping to tighten and tone my body as well as drop more weight. 27 pounds lost and 11 inches lost. Yay!

So I was banded in March had a fantastic start. Dropped 20 PDS in the first two weeks. Got my first fill May 1st and did pretty good (nobody mentioned it would hurt to get your first fill lol) well now the last 3 days I've been getting sick no vomit but salty saliva and sometimes the gut reaction but no vomit. I've chewed and chewed and I've drank and drank. Fluids perfectly fine...foods not so hot. Nothing taste good I would rather just drink fluids all day. Tmi moment approaching (I'm just starting my woman time) is KT possible my band is just oober tight from the fill and my woman time (noticed it got tight last month too) I'm not sure if I'm battling an illness or if its band related. Oh and in case your wondering I'm not prego lol. See above tmi lol *sorry it posted 3 times :/

Yeah I noticed it last month but I'm not sure if I have a stomach bug or if my tummys upset from being tighter due to woman time and a new fill or what's going on. :/ just makes me nervous because I need this tool and went through to much to get it. -

My doctor only puts you on a pre-op diet if you are a large male. Or a very overweight woman say 400-500 pounds. Otherwise he has never had a need to have someone shrink their liver before surgery. Which I know is a common practice among surgeons... so weird how they are all so different. And I agree with the person above me....that would suck to go in for surgery only to wake up and be told its not enough. :/

So proud of myself. Doctors appointment went fantastic yesterday. I'm down 12 pounds in one week. And my doctor says I am doing well enough to up my diet slowly. So tonight I practiced my new chewing tonight and ate even less food because I was fuller quicker..... first time ever I have stopped eating and went....hmm that's enough and been satisfied! Anyone else experience this? Tell me your proud moment since having the band. look forward to hearing your special moment.
