Stomach pain and can't hold down liquids
melanndoll posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Starting vomiting bile last night around 7. Hadn't eaten anything since lunch. Throwing up again this morning (water) and my stomach hurts. Just tried to call my surgeons office and the number has been disconnected! What do I do? Should I call my pcp or another surgeons office? Urgent care? -
Stomach pain and can't hold down liquids

Debbie, I was never not going to go to a doctor. I was just trying to figure out who to go to. I didn't want to waste time and money going somewhere that couldn't help me. I was scared and shocked that my surgeon had just disappeared. I was on this site while I was also trying to find somewhere to go. I am so glad there were people here who would respond to me while I was waiting to get help. -

He said really anything. Getting something stuck, vomiting too many times etc. I was also reading about it and it said NSAIDs put you at a greater risk for esophagitis. Well, I've been taking aleve every day for foot pain. New fun thing this morning! Pooped my pants while driving to work! Ugh. Guessing it's from everything my GI track has been through lately or I really did pick up a bug. Idk, but I'm home on the couch and probably will stay here today! -

Thanks for all your support! He used fluoro and barium and you could see it wasn't going through! So cool to see! He took out fluid until we could see the barium go through. I felt almost immediately better! He put me on sucralfate and we will recheck in a month. Diagnosed with esophagitis -

He got evicted and has plans to re open in the future. I just don't want to be over reacting. There are other surgeons that have agreed to see his patients so I could call them. It just really feels like I need to have fluid taken out whether I have a bug or not. It just doesn't feel normal. -

My concern with UC or pcp is how much do they know about the band? Could they even do an unfill? -
Had surgery about six months ago. For the past three I've had off and on pain in my lower right abdomen. Sort of on my pelvic bone. Felt like a pulled muscle to me, so I wasn't too concerned. Went to my regular doctor yesterday as the pain has gotten pretty bad. She said she could feel a soft squishy mass. She was concerned with a hernia. Had a CT scan yesterday. Nothing. Just got done with an ultrasound. Don't have results back, but the techs didn't seem like they saw anything. Has anyone heard anything about this having to do with lap band or anything?

I do know that I have a problem with self sabotaging and I am sure I am not the only one. Has anyone read any good books on this? Most recently, I got to 49.8 lbs lost. I have wanted to get to 50 so badly, but as soon as the scale got so close I started eating things I know I shouldn't. Or even larger portions of healthy foods. I'm sure it's something mental and would just like to understand it better and also figure out how to not do it.

Book on self sabotaging
melanndoll replied to melanndoll's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
That is a very interesting take on it blade! I know I've heard people say that even once they've lost the weight they still feel fat. Even in the way they move and carry themselves. And even though this is something we want for ourselves it's still a change. A good one, but a change nonetheless. Adjusting to change can be difficult, so maybe when we start to succeed we get scared of change and self sabotage? Sorry, now I'm rambling! -

Thank you everyone! I will definitely check that book out! Recycled and Cheryl, I feel that if it was that easy to just not do it then I wouldn't be here in the first place. I was hoping if I could get more info on what it is and why I do it then maybe I could fix it. Being like, oh ok, I'm not gonna do that anymore is not gonna work for me! Glad it has for you guys though! -
Of course a friend of mine has decided to become a beach body coach and I'm her new project! Just wondering if anyone has tried these and if they are good? I currently drink premier protein already made shakes in the morning as I don't get up early enough to make breakfast. I am 4 months post lap band. I like the price and the taste of premier, but she is constantly pressuring me! It's just so much money so I was looking for an unbiased opinion!

What makes wls patients unable to tolerate it?

How do I know my lean body weight?

I am 3.5 months lap band post op and I do drink sometimes and yes, it catches up with me fast! I feel like I'm learning to drink all over again! Lol

Think I may be too full after my fill yesterday:( protein shake won't stay down. Never had a problem with liquids before!! I'm at work though and we are about to get 10 inches of snow!

Tried to make it work, but I couldn't even make it back to the solid phase. Like even salmon or small bites of chicken. Chewing 30 Times and putting fork down for 1 minute. So then hungry and wanting junk. Hopefully this helps. I can't throw up again.

Thanks guys! She said she could tell I was very tight from the pressure the fluid was pushing into her syringe. She checked band under fluoro and said everything looks great. Saw a big gas bubble from food not being able to go down! 48 hours of fluids and then hopefully I'll be able to eat again!

Thanks for asking secret! It has been better but not completely. I successfully ate a few meals after doing liquids for 24 hours. Last night I spit up sushi, which I've never done before. It was always a "safe" food for me. I felt mostly due to the chopsticks! And then at work they ordered pizza for us. I have successfully eaten this in the past as well. I chewed my 20 times and waited a minute in between each bite. It's very frustrating:( getting ready to eat enchiladas. Hope it goes well! At this point, I don't think I'll be getting the fill I'm scheduled for in march!

Thanks guys! I ate some chicken and stars and threw up like I never have before. Like, not spit up like usual, full on vomiting. Will be straight liquids tomorrow and then I'll decide on Thursday.

I can sip and it will stay down. I guess I just drank it too fast in the car. I've never had any problems before with liquids though!

Have noticed since my surgery that I burp. A lot. Is this common with banding?
-
My friends are always glad when I burp because it means I'm not stuck! lol. But, it's just crazy how loud and freaking often they are!

Sorry! I was referring to anyone in general. I was watching those videos for the first time and he said 1/2 c food 3 times a day or less. I was just wondering if this is enough food to make it through your day with. And he says not to eat breakfast if you're not hungry, but I thought that was the most important meal? Different because of lap band? Just trying to get it all figured out! -

Does a cup and a half give you the energy you need to make it through the day?
