Looking for a Houston, texas group
cassandramontes replied to fashionstylist's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
HI Rw. My surgery date was June 14th and progress was good. However, once the swelling goes down you can go back to your regular eating habits because you don't have any fluid in your band. I been making healthy choices and I have gain back 7 lbs but my advocate says that's normal not to worry once I get my fill the weight loss will resume as it did after surgery she said also to make sure I keep my appointment for my fills because that is going to be the corner stone of my success. I go tomorrow for my fill and I can wait! ! ! ! -

You are not going to feel any restriction and believe me as the weeks go buy you are going to get your old appetite back and that's where the real challenge is going to come in. When you got your band you didn't have it fill the little "restriction" you were feeling was due to the swelling of your stomach after the surgery. Your third week you should be introducing yourself back to regular foods you are not there yet? -

Hi there, no I am not in Sugarland I am on the NE side of Houston. I drove the third day. I am lucky because im a teacher and have the summer off. I hear everyone say just listen to your body. I am a hard head and cant be down long but if you feel up to it and don't have to do a lot of walking and heaving lifting or on your feet for long periods of time do what you need to do . You know what I mean -
I have been banded for 6 years..ugh..
cassandramontes replied to Chanel's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Bottom line is everyone is different. Its not right to come here and bash something that might save someone life just because you had a bad situation. I have had no problems with my band at all and neither 7 of the people that I know. Everyone here that has bad things to say seems like its not the band its working with your doctor is the problem. That's why one should do research of the doctor, talk to those who have used that doctor and find out how he practice. -
You are doing fine. I lost 24 lbs in a month and I go for my first fill on Wednesday. I am praying that that put me in my green zone as some of my fellow banders. If not I will take 2 fills lol Good LUck !! !

I start solid foods today
cassandramontes replied to deeberry's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
One must realist that after surgery that weight that you lose is mainly water. That's why it goes so fast. don't be alarmed if you gain a few lbs. back. As long as you stick to the plan and exercise you should do fine. I had my surgery June 14th and when I started back solid foods I did gain back 6 lbs. it is mainly due to the bad being open and not fill and I could go back to my old eating habits. Let me take that back not old eating habits because I make healthy choices now but I am able to get down more. I am so looking forward to my fill Wednesday -

Im sorry you are going through so much trouble but I have several friends that have the lap band and oh yeah there is a such thing as hitting that mark. It looks to me the doctor you chose does not really care so to speak. I love my doctor and I have such a good support system and can talk with an advocate anytime I need to. The band is a tool I have lost weight along with hundreds of other people here. Maybe the band was not the right tool for you. It is possible. I have known someone who had the band and they could not control there eating didn't change their eating habits and still gulping down sodas and wont get off her but and exercise and guess what lol she has had no success with it. -

Ladies I am so happy my fill is 3 days away. I tell you once that swelling goes down from the surgery you are back to your old self cause you can eat anything. Try to be good and make good choices so you don't gain the weight back before your fill. I pray I hit that green zone with this first fill. -

I felt fine. I had no pain just from the gas. I was able to drink my clear liquids from day one. You are just 3 days out so your stomach is still swollen and you aren't suppose to drink per say but take sips. What do you mean you are unable to drink anything? You have no appetite or it comes up when you drink? -
One week post op
cassandramontes replied to MaggieMay702's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be banded one month on the 14th and it does not feel like I have anything at all. When I had the surgery I felt restriction and was not hungry but when the swelling went down the hunger came back full force and I am in need of a fill which I will be getting on the 17th of this month. My gas pain went away about the second week and I am still bloated and passing a lot of gas. I use fitness pal and I love it ! ! -
During this time it is easy to gain the few pounds you lost during those first couple weeks from surgery because your band is not fill and you can really at this point eat as you did before. Im not telling you to but until you get that fill you will be hungry, try to drink your protein shakes to help with the hunger.

Oh I see. Ok I went through true results and they offer all of that. I have an advocate I can call with any concerns. Maybe you can look around to join some support groups in your area. I am sure there are plenty. Im here just inbox me if you need any advice, help or just need to vent.

Im not sure I had the EDG done before my surgery and discovered I had the hiatal hernia and had it repaired when I got the band.

I AM NOT HUNGRY????
cassandramontes replied to ladyjordan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That's the goal is not to be hungry right? That's what the band is suppose to do take away hunger. If your drinking liquids its great because remember that's what you were doing pre op and the first couple of weeks after your surgery. -

5 Days Post Op, How much protein a day?
cassandramontes replied to fashionstylist's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Why are you posting this on here???? You could have called me. Girl you just had surgery you are going to feel weak. That's normal to feel weak you just had surgery like what 4 days ago and you need at least 60 grams of protein a day. Are you looking for the protein to give you strength? -
Feeling week!!
cassandramontes replied to amy alexander's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bounced back within a week and was driving the second day. Everyone body is different and you have to remember you just had surgery only 5 days ago. Have you ever had surgery before? -
Well you just and surgery you are going to be weak and sore. That comes with any procedure that is done. You were cute on of course you are going to be sore and your weak because you were cut on and are on liquids right now. Its not going to be like this forever only a few weeks if that. Your doctors office don't have a support group for the lap band or a nutritionist?

PISSED nothing but sliders
cassandramontes replied to BriannasBand's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
One inch is pretty big when dealing with the band to be honest. You need to have half of that at a time in my opinion. That should work. Chew good before swallowing as well. Im curious to know if the smaller bites work. Let us know -
How often for a fill after a year of being banded?
cassandramontes replied to Bailey Jan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you are doing good and in the green zone why would you want another fill? Just curious? -
Work after 1 week post-opt.
cassandramontes replied to Adrienne21's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I wish I could give you some pointers but I experience none of that. I was not sore after surgery, no staples I didnt have to get the pain medicine filled. In fact my doctor told me I better slow down. Everyone is different and I have read many times on here and I agree that people say just listen to your body. -
First Fill Question?
cassandramontes replied to txsonicguy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow you had no information before the surgery? The band is so popular and all over the internet and I am surprise you didn't have a sit down with an advocate or someone to explain the procedure to you and what to expect. No offense but I would not to into a procedure with out knowing what it all about. The fills are pretty painless but a word of advice read through some of these forums or ask your doctor to hook you up with an advocate. That's is someone who has had the surgery and has been successful with it that can answer any questions that you have. Good luck -
How do you know if you need a fill?
cassandramontes replied to Novemberbabies's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you are doing that good it could be possible that you are in your green zone and do not need a fill. That is possible some need 1 fill others need 6 and some need none. It just depends on the person.
