    Anyone experience bleeding

I am on day 24 and I still have a huge bruise from the shots. The bruising IS healing, but it has taken forever. I did bleed from one spot. It was like I rubbed the scab or something after a shot and I started bleeding. It was very strange, but being a MA I knew it was from the shot and medication than anything else.

    one month post op =(

Your doctor was being harsh. If it were me, I would question the doctor next time you go in (maybe the doctor was having a bad day?). There is no reason for you to feel like a failure. Two pounds is nothing really.

Types of excersizes 6 days post op?

I was told to walk, walk, walk. You don't want to do something and have your port flip on you. I was told no lifting either because you want the muscles to heal around the port. As for the shakes, I don't really have an answer. I have mine with Silk Light Soy (8 ozs), one scoop of protein shake and two small scoops of no sugar added ice cream. It's my sweet treat now that I can't have milk shakes from Braums.

    Coffee

You can get the e-juice for the e-cig without nicotine. I used to make my own and didn't put any nicotine in it.

    Coffee

Have you tried e-cigs? That might be a way to help you. I stopped smoking when I had my tonsils out and used an e-cig for about 6 months or so. It really helped. I can't say the craving is gone, but it's been over 4 years and still smoke free. Hugs!!! We are here for you Hun.

    Coffee

Oh my! LOL! You should have put a warning on your post. I took a sip of my shake while I've been reading posts and had to spit my shake out when I read your post.

    Coffee

I was told to only have decaff coffee and wanted me to start it before my pre-op diet. I went 1/2 caff 1/2 decaff. Now I'm on full decaff and, at first, it killed me. I was tired all the time, but I've gotten used to it.
  8. I was told I could take capsules and caplets and some pills as long as they aren't bigger then the tip of my pinky. I usually take Tylenol in caplet form and it's fine. I do only take one at a time though.
  9. For the first 7 days after being banded with the plication, I had fairly painful hunger pangs. At day 19, it's not as bad. I think mine was more of mind over matter. If the growling started, I would grab a Protein shake and even if it were just a few oz that I drank it would help a lot. Good luck! Hopefully the hunger pains will go away for you.
  10. I hope you feel better soon! I had that junk about 3 weeks before surgery. I was so scared that I'd have to put off my surgery because of the cough. Luckily, it went away before surgery, but I hadn't been that sick in a long time.

    March 2013 Bandsters

Hiya March Banders! I was banded March 27th. I've lost 14 pounds so far. My first fill is May 7th. I'm still on the mushies stage. On Wednesday I get to start solids (soft fruit, veggies and MEAT!!!!) finally. Yay to us!!!
  12. Dr Keith and PA Winter Bathe banded me on March 27th. Yes! I had to do a sleep study too, but I had sleeping issues. Or thought I did. He is a fantastic doctor and really listens to his patients. I am so glad I found him.

    Milkshake protien shake

I use 8 oz of Soy milk (since I can't tolerate milk now) and one or two small spoons of no sugar added Vanilla ice cream. It reminds of me a chocolate milk shake from Braums.

    Removing glue?

My doctor took off my strips on my post-op appt (8 days after surgery) and told me that I could use finger nail polish remover or just straight acetone. I used baby oil on the site where my IV was and it came off good.

    Protein Powder

Ah protein! I bought the bag of Bariatric Advantage in chocolate because the single serves were great. I opened the bag yesterday and oh my goodness! There is a horrible strawberry taste to it. I called the Dr's office and asked them if anyone has called with concerns and I was the first. Now I need to find another kind. I can't take the taste. Any suggestions?

    proud of myself...

I am at day 9 now. I had surgery on March 27th. I'm excited to see the weight come off like that. That is one of the motivating factors for me.

    proud of myself...

My proud moment came when I went to my first appointment on April 4th and found out I lost 10 pounds. I did the happy dance on the scale and my husband just looked at me. ~Snicker~

    Gas

I am 7 days (not using weeks yet...LOL) post-op and I still have some rumbling of gas. I have a 4 oz Meal Replacement three times a day and inbetween I've found sugar free popsicles and some sugar free Jello. I take my Omeperzole and my Lexapro on a daily basis. I am able to expell the gas, but I have never had gas like this before surgery. Help! Any ideas? Linda

    Gas

Thank you all!! At least I know it's "normal" so I won't worry too much. I will remember the GasX and keep moving.
  24. I am so glad that I found a place like this. My lap band journey started in August. Well, actually it started many years ago when Tricare said they pay for it. I spoke with my husband over and over about it and he was still in the mindset of "you don't need surgery, you need self-control." Little did he know, I knew my body much better than he did. Ten years later and he finally saw what I had been telling him. I had high blood pressure, high cholesterol (uncontrolled even on medication), and borderline diabetic. I went to one of Dr Keith's seminars and it was a packed seminar. Two weeks later I get the phone call I've been waiting for. I started making all my appointments and then all of a sudden we are deep in debt and I have to push off my appointments because the bills are piling up that weren't there just a few months ago. I started at a horrible job and lasted a meer 4 weeks until I told the doctor I was working for to shove his job where the sun doesn't shine. Not my best moment, but life does go on. I started back on my appointments using my Pell Grant money (after classes and books are paid for) and used that just for the appointments insurance wouldn't pay. I, again, had to look for a job, but I was very upfront and let my wonderful boss know that I was going to have weight loss surgery by the end of Feb. She was so happy for me and I was hired that day. I had a small set back and ended up having to see a cardiologist because I had Ventricular Tachycardia. I went through the appointment and stress test with the cardiolgist stating that he believes the problems I have is weight related and that I was cleared to have surgery. Yay! Surgery day is here. I have March 27th, 2013 circled and ready to go. I was at the hospital at 5:45am and at 7:28am I was given the "boom boom" as my husband called it. I am 5 days post-op and are a little worried about the Protein drink and always heading to the bathroom afterwards. After my long winded post...Hi! Linda
