Lets try this again...Those who were BANDED the week of December 17th...
CajunCutie replied to ~Trixie~'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just got back from my appointment. My seroma was drained again. It was much smaller this time, only 75 ccs of Fluid came out. And, I was able to get a fill!!! I got 3 ccs in my 10cc band. In 2 weeks I go back and will probably get another fill. I did however gain 8 pounds back....ugh. Hopefully I will feel some restriction with this fill. -

I was banded on Dec. 19th. I have the realize band. I can eat pretty much anything...which sucks. I have NO restriction. My 1st fill will be on Jan. 31. Honestly, I think I gained weight over the last 2 weeks. I have a seroma (pocket of fluid) that is about the size of a grapefruit. I had it drained once, and have to go back tomorrow for another draining. Gross huh? It is not infected, its just Fluid. -
losingjusme goes for plastics

LJM, You are doing so great! You have had AWESOME success! You are a huge inspiration to me. -
I had a large area around my port that was filled with fluid. (It was the size of a grapefruit.) I went to see the nurse. She drained 218 ccs of fluid from that area. Has anyone else had a problem like this? She said that it happens sometimes and it could come back. Well, it has. Share your experience if this happened to you.

Does $17,000 Seem too High for this surgery??????
CajunCutie replied to JaxFab44's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did a lot of research when I was selecting my surgeon. I finally selected Dr. Lavin to be my surgeon b/c of his experience. Also, his staff is wonderful!!! My surgery cost $13500 which includes 1 year of fills. After the 1st year, fills are $50. -
Drowning in a Liquid Diet
CajunCutie replied to MovinForward's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, every post op diet is different. I was on clear liquids for one day, full liquids 2 days, then yogurt and pudding for 2 days, well cook veggies, and today (eight days out) I am eating eggs. Why do you think the post op diet varies so much? After reading what others are eating at this stage, it makes me wonder if I should go back to full liquids. -
I went to my post op appt today. All looks good. I am down 8.5 PBS since pre op!

Surgeries The Week Of December 17
CajunCutie replied to nhlapband's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 12/19. Is the weird feeling in my chest normal? It feels like something in my esphagus. I don't feel it all the time. Mainly at night. It doesn't hurt, just feels odd. I can get liquids and yogurt down fine. Tomorrow I get to advance to applesauce and pudding. Also, I have a bruise the size of my whole hand around the port site. Anyone else have this issue? -
Kennergirl, Thank you. I was only able to go to work for an hour today. Last night was a little rough. I had trouble getting my pain medicine down. I felt like I was going to throw up, but didn't. My surgeon was Dr. Lavin. He and his staff are wonderful!!!! Good luck with your surgery. You will do fine. Amy

Hi. I was banded yesterday, Dec. 19th. All is good. Not much pain. Only hurts when I move around a lot. I am not hungry. I have been super thirsty though. I have been drinking clear liquids all day. So far it is a good experience. I might even go to work for a few hours tomorrow.

JC2008.....I am having surgery Wednesday and Dr. Lavin is my surgeon. Where are you from? I live in LaPlace. Do you ever attend the support groups? Amy
-
My surgery is Wednesday. I have to be there at 5:30am. Which means I have to wake up at 4:00am to shower and drive there (over an hour away). Who is up that early??? I am nervous, excited, freaking, happy, etc. I have a lot to do to keep me busy this weekend (Christmas shopping, cleaning, etc) to get my mind off of surgery.
-
Pre-Op and final meeting with my surgeon went very well today. The surgery is paid for. All my test are done. Now, I am just waiting til surgery (Dec. 19th) and trying not to freak out!!!
-
I have been waiting for over a year and I will finally be banded on December 19th!!! OMG! I am scared, happy, worried, freaking, and having every other possible emotion!!! I can wait to join everyone in the banded world. :whoo::banana:banplease::cheer2::Banane20:

CajunCutie replied to CajunCutie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks guys! I am very excited!!!! -
Hi. I am new to this thread. My surgery date is December 19th!!!!
-
Glad to hear you are doing ok. Hang in there. Before long you won't have any pain.
-
I have seen the documentary and I agree that is was an eye opener. I suggest to anyone that hasn't seen it, to watch it.

All 4 of my wisdom teeth were impacted. I got them all removed at once. I had to get mine removed by an oral surgeon because of the huge roots. I have told everyone if you have to get them removed, do it all at once because you won't want to go back. The pain medicine will take care of the pain. I had purple bruises on my jaw line and cheeks. It was very hard to open my mouth. I didn't eat much for a week. Ice packs help a lot. Do as your doctor tells you and take your medicine and you will be fine.

I live close to New Orleans which made the list. Of course with all the great food surrounding our culture down here, I am not surprised.

doc says i have to lose weight befor surgery
CajunCutie replied to big tom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Tom, I also have to get down to 400 before surgery. My highest weight recorded was 441 pounds. I have 8 pounds to go and they are the hardest! My surgeon has preformed hundreds of surgeries on people 400-500+ pounds. He even laughed when I asked him if I was his biggest patient. I just know losing the few more pounds before surgery will be safer for me in the end. Just know that you are not the only one struggling with this battle. Congrats on your 15-20 pounds lost so far. -
How can we find out more info on this run?

What the heck is wrong with me???????
CajunCutie posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not banded yet. I have 13 pounds to lose before I can get my surgery scheduled. So, if I only have 13 pounds to lose, why in the heck can't I stick to my program??? Last week I did great, only cheated twice, and started walking every night. When I got on the scale Monday, I gained 4 pounds. How did I gain 4 pounds??? So, I was at only having to lose 9 pounds, but now I am back to having to lose 13 pounds. The gain of 4 pounds has really stressed me out. It was a HUGE disappointment. I am so close to having surgery, but the scale is going the wrong way. So, instead of being hard-core on my plan, I have been cheating all week (ice cream, cake, bagels, coke, chicken nuggets). I know if I stepped on the scale right now, I won't be happy. Then I start stressing about how will I manage to do what I need to once I get banded. It is all a vicious cycle. I am soooo close to getting the band. I am frustrated, disappointed, pissed, stressed, and just want to scream (and eat)!!!!! I need some MAJOR encouragement. :help:
