My surgery date is May 21st, I had my last weigh in May 6th and no longer need weigh ins. I was wondering if you get weighed one last time before surgery? I'm concerned about being disciplined from now until then, I need that accountability. My surgeon told me it's not necessary to see me again until surgery day.

I'm so excited, got my date today.....May 21st it is!!!!! Really happy with how quickly this is happening for me. My first office visit was April 9th and here I am today 14+ lbs lighter and a surgery date in two weeks! The official count down begins Had the TNE today - not fun at all; boy was that uncomfortable but luckily everything looks good. Throat and nose still really sore but that's normal.

Psych eval tonight - nervous

Wasn't that bad - asked me questions about my family, background, why I wanted the lap band over the other choices, etc. Easy breezy! Cute little MD too - had to be all of 80! -
Self pay psych visit costs???

I'm required to go to two appts as well. I was referred to a psych office that doesn't take my insurance and out of pocket would be $150 per visit. I did some shopping around and found one that accepts my insurance so I only have a co-pay. -
I'm having my surgery done at Ellis hopefully in May, I live in Scotia, NY.

Beginning the journey

Congrats on making the decision to a healthier life! For me it's going pretty quickly, I told the MD that I have a small window of opportunity because I'm losing my insurance soon so luckily they are helping me get things done rather quickly. My insurance did not require a 6 month diet thank goodness! I had to attend two support groups, which I did ahead of time; had my first consultation which was originally scheduled for 4/18 but I asked to be on a cancellation list and luckily got a call and had that done 4/9; I scheduled my psych eval for 4/23 and 4/30 (they require two sessions); had bloodwork done 4/9; got my gyn stuff faxed to them quickly, Medifast teaching is tomorrow. So now the only thing I'm waiting on is obviously losing the first 10%, have to do the TNE and chest xray which will be next week hopefully. I started all this on 4/4/13 and was told surgery could be done end of May! -
I have my first consultation appt 4/18; I'm really nervous about my window of opportunity here since I'm losing my insurance end of May. I've already verified with my insurance they will cover it. I will be applying for Medicaid once this insurance runs out so I'd hate to have to go through the whole process of verifying again if I don't have to. I'm going to one of the two required weight loss support groups tonight. What, if anything, can I do or schedule ahead of time to help speed the process? Thanks!

Hi everyone. I'm in the early stages of the process, waiting for my MD to write me a letter of medical necessity so I can bring it with me to the seminar April 4th. Can anyone tell me typically how long the whole process takes from waiting for insurance approval to being on the table? I know generally it's different for every situation but looking to get a ball park idea. I'm so anxious to see if I will be able to get this surgery or not.
