Anyone have Hepatic Lobe Lesions before surgery?
alisluv posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went for my heart and gallbladder ultrasounds yesterday, and the Dr's office called and said the radiologist had seen a "hepatic lobe lesion" (which is something on/in the liver) - that he wasn't concerned, didn't think it would be an issue....BUT....they want to send me for an MRI. Not only will this delay my surgery (which hadn't been scheduled but I was hoping for a June date), but it's very expensive! Just wondered if anyone else had gotten these results from a gallbladder ultrasound, and if so, what was discovered. I'm not terribly worried since my bariatric Dr. didn't seem to be but........ Any stories would be helpful! Thanks! Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk -
Anyone have Hepatic Lobe Lesions before surgery?

Thanks for the info and personal insights, guys! I am trying not to be worried about it, because everything I've read says it's probably nothing but what y'all mentioned. I definitely am glad to get any possibile issues dealt with before lap band - I just (selfishly) don't want to delay my surgery, because I'm trying to get it done in early June so I can recuperate before going back to work in August (I'm a teacher). Of course I know my overall health comes first, and I will update with results. Thanks again for the feedback!! Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk -
2-Week Pre-Op Liquid Diet? BRING IT ON!
alisluv replied to HelloGoodbye's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all, and congrats to you for your upcoming surgery dates! I don't have mine yet; meet with the surgeon next week, and will hopefully have it within the next 30 days! My question is going to seem weird, I guess but -- my surgeon does NOT require a pre-Op liquid diet. In fact, it's a high-protein, low-fat, low-carb diet, but still eating 1200-1500 calories a day! The only liquid diet pre-op is the 24 hours before surgery, and of course the days after. Does this seem strange, or do different doctors just do different things that (hopefully) have worked for their patients? I don't want to have bad results from not doing all I can ahead of time, but if my surgeon doesn't require it....I'm thinking I'm not going to torture myself! LOL Has anyone else NOT had to do a liquid diet pre-Op? Thanks for any info! -

I'm in the beginning stages of WLS -- getting ready to go through all the classes/testing, etc., before even getting a surgery date set. I've done LOTS of research and reading and talking to people - and I can't quite seem to get a (consistent) concensus on hunger! So I'd love to know what people here can offer with personal experiences: I've "heard" that the band will make you feel full after eating the 4 ounces or whatever, that you will NOT be hungry, and you'll be satisified with your new limited portions. Then again, I've "heard" that yes you WILL still be hungry! If you're still hungry and you can't eat, then how is it as easy as everyone says? Please hare personal experiences so I can make a more informed decision! thanks

Thanks everyone for taking the time to share your stories and offer advice/suggestions! It really means a lot that 'strangers' care enough to support someone who is still trying to make the right decision. I am so sorry that some of you have had less than desirable experiences, and of course I know that statistically, that's to be expected. I'm sure you're wondering "why me?" -- I know I would be! My wish is that you find all have success with those stubborn places (whether it's hunger, lack of fills, doctors who won't listen, etc.) and become the healthiest YOU you wanted to be when you started! And congratulations to those who have had the successes you dreamed of - your experiences are enlightening and encouraging. I'm a very positive person (sometimes too much so), and I tend to think the best WILL happen in every situation, and this one is no different. I will be looking forward to my nutrition and mental health appointments this month, and in finally getting to meet the surgeon (why won't they meet you before you jump through the hoops?). I'd also love to hear more comments/advice from any of you who have the time and desire to share. I know how important a support system is, and though I do have about 5 people in my personal life that have had either LapBand or bypass surgeries, I'd love to have an online network of friends to commiserate/celebrate with! thank you again for your time and input! :-)
