How do you decide?
balbuquerque replied to tess1964's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As far as diabetes is concerned the only WLS proven to literally cure it is the gastric bypass . There's are plenty articles about it right here on this site. Also as for as that post that said I should see my doctor, that's a bit presumptuous to think that I didn't go to my two week follow up. In any case if what I'm experiencing with the band one month post op is what life is after the band it's wicked. It would be extremely wicked of me not to share my experience. I refuse to be be that selfish. -

Riah.815 first of all I am so sorry that you needed WLS at such a tender age. My daughter had gastric bypass surgery 11 years ago at the tender age of 16 and no child should have to go through that. She also went off to college a couple years later and regained almost all of it back but two years ago she decided to try again on her own And she lost 100 lb. refocus and look for a lap band dr in your area. While you get the doctor issue sorted out, try your best to eliminate the bad food choices and control your portions. That will be a great start. Whatever you do don't give up and find a doctor that will help you. Lots of hugs to you.

How do you decide?
balbuquerque replied to tess1964's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tess you are loosing on your own, continue on that path. There are many people that do it that way, who's to say that you cannot do it. Any WLS is and should be the last choice for anyone. There are many people that are overweight but are not miserable. Read about it and do your research, go into all the forums positive and negative. And go from there. Best of Luck in your journey which ever route you take, the journey is a life long commitment and if you can do it with the band you can do it without the band. Remember the band doesn't guaranteed success only you can do that. -

Balancing my own emotions
balbuquerque replied to ashly.auld's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ashly Kathy worded it perfect, however I will like to add that for the sake of your own growth "tell the person exactly how you feel" . And stay in complete control of your temper when doing so. I had to tell someone today point blank that my surgery was not going to be the topic of conversation every time we had lunch, and it was not awkward at all, on the contrary. Hope you the best. -
Please make sure you don't schedule yourself to return to work too soon. Heads up.

' PB-ing', What is it!?
balbuquerque replied to Bandedlexi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Suzzane that sounds so encouraging. Isn't 7cc a big amount though? I don't have a fill yet, and I've lost 20 lbs while I was on the liquid diet, but not I'm soooo hungry sometimes. The great thing is that if I eat just a tiny bit of food, half cup, I'm satisfied. 53 lbs in four months sounds. Very encouraging. When did I have your first fill? -
' PB-ing', What is it!?
balbuquerque replied to Bandedlexi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly thank you, I really will like for my sleeping habits to have change also. I know that I need to eat slow. I've been telling myself "the food is not going anywhere" eat slow. And I've been cutting all my meats very small as if for a two year old. -

balbuquerque replied to Bandedlexi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you Donna for the encouraging words, it's good to hear. I'm 28 days post op, and just going through a rough phase I hope. I'm lucky in the sense that I've never liked dry foods so that will be easy. Stews have always been my preference so just cut small, eat slow and chew mindfully. I hope the discomfort goes away soon Thanks again. -
' PB-ing', What is it!?
balbuquerque replied to Bandedlexi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wildrose why do you think is different now since you never had an episode? I don't have a fill yet and I am scared of getting one. God knows I want to loose weight but not like that. I'm so questioning whether I did the right thing or not. Specially considering my discomfort and inability to move in certain ways that I had no problem before the band. I am a housekeeping manager and yesterday while inspecting a room I tried reaching under a bed to pull a piece of dubree and was completely unable to do so. That is so discouraging. I can't sleep on my stomach as I've done all my life. -

It hurts but from inside. It was a lot worse and gradually getting better. But I miss holding my hubby at nite. maybe we'll have to rearrange our room because I can turn on the opposite. Side where the port is not. Maybe soon it will get better -

Secondary Achalasia due to AGB (warning, complication post) :). The Why??
balbuquerque replied to Baba Wawa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mrsinto yes I agree with you 100 percent. The way you worded it makes a huge difference. We just must be vigilant in our after care, and pray that if something goes wrong our doctors don't hesitate to help us. Enjoy the journey and follow the rules. My hardest one to follow is to eat slower. I write down and repeat it constantly even if I'm not eating. Have a good night sleep. -
New to this.. 4 days since my surgery.. Looking for support/advice from experienced, lovely people?

balbuquerque replied to Baba Wawa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Kitti thank you for sharing in a nice manner. Mrsinto that's what it's all about sharing information. I'm 25 days post op and I'm not feeling well yet. I think that it will get better and I am doing everything the right way. But I'm also concerned. And we make our decisions based on the information that we have. Hope you feel better soon. -

Secondary Achalasia due to AGB (warning, complication post) :). The Why??
balbuquerque replied to Baba Wawa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've had seven surgeries in my life, Two c-sections, hemorrhoidectomy, Carpel tunnel, shoulder surgery, fibroid embolization, and the lap band. By far the lap band has been the longest recovery. I like when people share their experiences, regardless of whether I can identified with them or not. It's about sharing, and being generous with your knowledge.
