    Before/after - self image

Man, it could be me writing that. I've always felt I was fat, and like you it was self fulfilling prophecy. I'm down 125lbs now and should feel good about myself but i don't. I've stalled and I can't seem to get my drive back. I still did it for the same reasons, I want better health but I can't seem to get there because of other factors in my life including low self esteem. The surgery is not a magic pill but I thought I'd feel better about myself, I mean, geez I've lost a whole person!! It sucks, I feel your pain. But I get up each day and try to have hope. Best of luck!!

    Shoe size!?

I have two pairs of shoes that are now just too big for me. They were 6.5W, but I haven't been shoe shopping so not sure what I am now. I went to wearing snickers for now. I just don't want to spend the money. I already had to buy new bras!

    My last pcp appt

    Don't give up, fingers crossed!
  6. I never had the pain when eating. I had pain when I'd be sleeping. It totally went away after a month or two. I wouldn't worry about it unless it persists or if you're really worried call the surgeon's office. Best of luck!
  7. I've had the same problems. You just have to hang in there. It's all in our head and therefore you have to do a lot of self talk. And it is tiring. I clean, organize a closet, a kitchen drawer instead of doing a hobby. Distract myself from thinking about food. The pureed stage is tough just remind yourself why you are doing this in the first place. And the band will make it easier. I was mad that I couldn't eat the way I used to but I had to tell myself that that is what got me here in the first place. But I also know that it isn't a forever "no". I can eat whatever I want, in moderation. Especially when I get to my goal. I still have another 100 lbs. It will be worth it!!

    Average loss?

I had the band in July 2013 and lose about 6 lbs per month. I know others do way better, but that's my body. It took so much more to do on my own that I am grateful to now have the band. Who would have thought that I've now lost a total of 124 lbs? I have another 100 to go but I'm not stopping now! Don't put pressure on yourself comparing yourself to others, it isn't worth it. Each of use is unique. You took the first step already, good luck!

    Emotions + eating

Definitely emotions play a part for me. When something traumatic happens, have a bad day, I totally start eating. Boredom can do it too. I feel comforted. I just recall the memories growing up around good times involved food, baking, etc. Definitely a comforting feeling associated, takes the bad feelings away. I specifically remember about 20 years ago i was a bank teller and was held up at gunpoint. I had to go and have a banana split. Haven't had one since. I felt like what the helll? And it did makes me feel better. It's a tied together.

    Advice needed

I wasn't keeping food down and was getting so tired. All had to do with the amount of nutrition. This is common with WLS. What vitamins are you taking? The surgeon should have you on bariatric vitamins. Good luck!!! Check out the high iron vegetables.

    Out to Eat....

I have enjoyed Red Lobster post surgery. The biscuits I ate just in tiny bits and I could only about half of one whereas before, geez! scarf! And then ate Mahi Mahi, a soft white fish and broccoli that I chew like the dickens. Eating out isn't bad if you know your limitations and feel confident that leftovers are okay. I eat soup alot but that isn't good for sustained feeling of fullness. So amazed at how much less food I eat now. Yippee!
  14. I agree with the others , she's not much of a friend. She should try and see it from your perspective. It isn't an easy decision to have WLS. You just want your health. That's why I did it. The aesthetic is a nice side effect but I just want my health and quality of life back. As i got bigger the world got smaller. I refuse to let it rule my life. You don't need people like her. You will make other friends who will be supportive. Good riddance!

    Getting this tightened up!

Good for you! I'd be more nervous too but I think that's only natural . I can only hope that I can have a tummy tuck and upper thigh lift when I'm done. How did you get insurance to pay for the tuck? Good luck/!
  16. Really liked that blog, very inspiring. I'm at that point where I worry that the way I look isn't a true reflection on how I feel or what I've accomplished. But I want to get to my goal weight and meet my doctor's expectations. The plastic surgery and finishing touches will have to come later. The health part is the most important. Thanks for sharing!!

    Pop Tarts

If you want it you might as well have it. If you were a newbie I'd say think about what it is....full of sugar...do you really want it? I know what you mean about pop tarts. I can't have them in the house. But you've made such great progress you know what you are doing. Enjoy!

    Banded July 2013

I was banded last July as well. I've lost maybe 65 lbs since the surgery. I lost 60 lbs before on my own. I'm kind of stuck myself. I was at 230 forever. I just couldn't break 230. Now I'm 228 since I really have focused on exercise and it seems to be happening for me. I really thought I'd be at 200 by now. It seems like you're exercising plenty. When I feel like I'm hungrier than I should be I get a fill. Due for another now. Talk to your doctor. Write down what you are eating and show him, he'll have some advice for sure. Good Luck!!!

Hi all, i got my date !

Great!! And so it begins :-) Good Luck, it will be here before you know it.
  20. It depends. i don't think people really started saying anything until 30+ lbs lost. Now I get it all the time from people. It's good to know they notice. I reallly like it but I don't look for the compliments I just psyched from wearing all the stuff that hasn't fit for so long. Keep it up and you'll get more of it!!
  21. Awesome! I know I just stared and stared at the number on the scale. I lost 60lbs on my own and have lost another 67 so far after surgery. It's an amazing feeling. Way to go!!!
  22. Other than what you are already doing I have no idea. Do you have any discomfort? The Miralax can take a couple of days but it does work. Good luck to you!! Been there myself
  23. Good news, thanks for sharing. I never thought it would have any affect on polycystic ovarian syndrome.

    My story

Just stick with it and continue finding support at the groups. They are so important. It's hard when no one you know is going thru the same thing. It really helps to hear other people's stories and good tips. Exercise is key along with eating the right things. Never give up, that's what I keep telling myself. Best of luck!
