    Any bandings in April???

This weekend I've been hungrier than a mofo. Been eating everything in sight all weekend like my old self. Just got banded April 5th. Could it be time for a fill? Wondering if I should have chose the sleeve instead.

    Any bandings in April???

Welcome to the forum Miki. I'm a father and also do a lot of cooking for my family. Yes, it is hard but don't give into temptation. Continue with the shakes. Gotta have two per day after surgery too so it's just a part of life now. About being quiet, YES. Yes I stayed quiet about it. Even told my wife NOT to talk about it to friends and family members. I didnt want any of them to know about it. I guess I was kinda embarrassed about it. I kinda felt like a fat ass loser for having surgery instead of doing it the "old fashioned" way like I've done so many times before. Funny thing though- towards the end of my pre-op diet, I talked about it to my mother in law. My wife looked at me kinda crazy cuz I had been adamant about not talking about it to family. I don't know what changed or how it changed- maybe it was the fear of the surgery, maybe it was a sense of accomplishment for my newfound willpower sticking to the protein shakes. When my wife called me out for mentioning it to my mother in law, I changed my mind about talking about it. Now I'm 1 week post op and still a little hesitant to talk about it to everyone, but fact is, I've lost 30 pounds. So when people say "are you losing weight?" Or they ask "where were you last Friday? I've never seen you miss work?" I just simply tell them that I had lap band surgery. I can't and shouldn't lie about it. It's the truth. And although I was embarrassed about my decision and wanted it to stay private at first, my results and newfound willpower drive me enough to feel proud about the decision I've made to do this
  4. Did anyone else experience flu like muscle soreness within days of their pre-op diet? I swear it feels like I've been run over with a truck! For breakfast and lunch I'm just having the protein shake minus the fruit. Dinner- 7 oz baked Cod, 1 cup shreded cabbage 1/2 an apple and 1/2 cup dry spinach leaves. Maybe this feeling is due to my lack of sleep last night due to being woken up so much from the home sleep study equipment strapped to my head and nose! What should I do?
  5. I drank a combination of smoothie King gladiator Protein shakes and Labrada Lean Body Protein Shakes. No other supplements other than a Multivitamin.

    Sick, IDK why?

My surgeons instructions were to be on liquid diet for three weeks- 1st week juice and broth, 2nd week puréed soups and yogurt, 3rd week mashed soft foods- no water with meals, and protein shakes everyday to accommodate our need for protein. I'm following the diet so the body can heal. They say no pastas, rice, breads, etc for the first month, as they'll expand and damage the band.

    Any bandings in April???

Love this thread- good to see so much encouragement being passed around. I was banded on April 5 in Houston with true results- Dr Hollis. Great experience overall. With pre-op and time after surgery, total of 3 weeks dieting right I've dropped 30 pounds so far. Can't wait to see my results by end of April. If anyone has any questions about diet, protein powders, etc, just text me @ 281-773-8724 or email me at OakesRealty@yahoo.com. I'm a realtor and manager of a smoothie king so I have extensive knowledge of protein powders and supplements. Good luck to all of you. I know the results will be amazing.
  10. 5 days after surgery, down 28-30 pounds so far. Pretty good feeling, but DAMN I WANT SOME CHICKEN!!! This post op diet phase needs to hurry up and go. LOL

    Pre Op

Btw- 23-29 grams carbs isn't that bad, so as long as you're not adding milk or fruit to it- so finish what you've got of that powder and then switch to smoothie king gladiator. You'll be glad you did! The lower the carbs, the more weight you'll lose

    Pre Op

Smoothie king Gladiator protein powder is no day no carbs, doesn't taste as good as muscle milk but of course it doesn't, cuz muscle milk contains fat and sugar. Zero carb Isopure is great too, although extremely expensive and chalky tasting. You won't mind the taste of chocolate gladiator stirred with a glass of water or blended with some berries

    I'm in the hospital

I'm 5 days post op- pain is gone (except a little discomfort in my shoulder). Wonderful feeling to be lighter already after 3 weeks of dedication to the diet! Good luck!

    April bandsters..

I was banded the 5th of April. Had horrible gas pains that have migrated to my left shoulder. Today, 5 days later, I feel wonderful. Slight pain in my shoulder, back at work, busy and loving it
  16. Turns out I wasn't dying because of lack of carbs- I just had a wicked case of strep throat! Lol. Well anyways, I stuck to the pre-op diet. Lost 18 pounds in pre-op. my surgery was last Friday. I'm back at work, feeling so much better, down another 10 pounds since surgery five days ago. This is amazing.
  17. Inspiration for me to get it done. I look forward to my surgery!
